The Heckler & Koch USP (''Universelle Selbstladepistole'', or "Universal Self-loading Pistol") was first introduced in 1993 and is still currently manufactured. It is offered in several calibers - 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. The .45 ACP version of the USP has a slightly longer barrel and a slightly taller grip than the 9mm and .40 S&W models. | The Heckler & Koch USP (''Universelle Selbstladepistole'', or "Universal Self-loading Pistol") was first introduced in 1993 and is still currently manufactured. − | + | The USP Tactical (.40 S&W or .45 ACP) features a threaded barrel for mounting sound suppressors, adjustable sights, and a match trigger. The 9x19mm version is called "USP SD". It notably lacks the "TACTICAL" nomenclature on the slide, and has a non-adjustable trigger. The KSK of the German Army and the German Navy Kampfschwimmer use the USP Tactical under the designation "P12".

− | + | A competition oriented version of the USP, the Match model was offered by H&K to appeal to target shooters. Being very similar to the USP Expert, like said pistol the Match came equipped with a lengthened barrel (though the Match's barrel was longer at 6.02 inches versus the Expert's 5.19 inch barrel), adjustable rear sight, ambidextrous safety and slide release, adjustable match-grade trigger and trigger stop, custom barrel weight (which contrary to popular belief is not a compensator and was intended to counteract muzzle climb, mounting directly onto the USP's frame rails) and an optional "Jet Funnel" extended magazine well.
− | + | The pistol was offered in 9mm, .45 ACP and .40 S&W calibers, but the Jet Funnel and requisite high-capacity magazines were only available on 9mm and .40 versions. It was discontinued in 1999 (due to low sales and buyers preferring the almost identical Expert and the Match being only good for target shooting and little else despite its distinctive appearance), and its appearance in movies and video games after being discontinuation has made it highly sought after today, with prices reaching up to $3,000 for a factory genuine good condition example.

While the USP Expert has a 5.19-inch barrel, the USP Elite has a 6.1-inch barrel. The Elite also has a more refined trigger and sights than the Expert. The Elite was designed specifically for the various large bore disciplines of the DSB, BDS and BDMP.

+ | The Heckler & Koch P8 is a variant of the USP adopted by the German army ''Bundeswehr'', chambered in 9x19mm. The P8 has minor differences from the standard USP model, these being translucent magazines, a reversed safety/decocker lever (to match the safety of the [[Walther P1]] it replaced), and a traditional lands-and-grooves barrel instead of a polygonal barrel.

Heckler & Koch USP
The Heckler & Koch USP (Universelle Selbstladepistole, or "Universal Self-loading Pistol") was first introduced in 1993 and is still currently manufactured. It is offered in several calibers - 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. The .45 ACP version of the USP has a slightly longer barrel and a slightly taller grip than the 9mm and .40 S&W models.

Heckler & Koch USP Tactical
The USP Tactical (.40 S&W or .45 ACP) features a threaded barrel for mounting sound suppressors, adjustable sights, and a match trigger. The 9x19mm version is called "USP SD". It notably lacks the "TACTICAL" nomenclature on the slide, and has a non-adjustable trigger. The KSK of the German Army and the German Navy Kampfschwimmer use the USP Tactical under the designation "P12".

Heckler & Koch USP Match
A competition oriented version of the USP, the Match model was offered by H&K to appeal to target shooters.
The pistol was offered in 9mm, .45 ACP and .40 S&W calibers, but the Jet Funnel and requisite high-capacity magazines were only available on 9mm and .40 versions.

Heckler & Koch USP Expert
Introduced in 1998, the USP Expert is designed for competition shooting. Unlike the standard USP, the Expert features a lengthened 5.19-inch barrel (similar to the USP Tactical's barrel but minus the threading for a suppressor) and slide, adjustable target sights, a "Jet Funnel" magazine well designed for higher capacity magazines in 9mm and .40 S&W, adjustable match-grade trigger and trigger stop.

Heckler & Koch USP Elite
Also designed with competition shooting in mind, the USP Elite is essentially just a USP Expert with a slightly longer slide and barrel. While the USP Expert has a 5.19-inch barrel, the USP Elite has a 6.1-inch barrel. The Elite also has a more refined trigger and sights than the Expert. The Elite was designed specifically for the various large bore disciplines of the DSB, BDS and BDMP.

Heckler & Koch P8
The Heckler & Koch P8 is a variant of the USP adopted by the German army Bundeswehr, chambered in 9x19mm. The P8 has minor differences from the standard USP model, these being translucent magazines, a reversed safety/decocker lever (to match the safety of the Walther P1 it replaced), and a traditional lands-and-grooves barrel instead of a polygonal barrel.
