RE:Flare Pistol in Soldier Boyz

Thanks, glad I could help. When I found that page it was annoying me as well, as it is clearly real with a very distinctive design, but any search I did for flare pistols just came up with more conventional military style flare guns. It wasn't until I realised it was probably a cheap civilian thing and searched for "cheap flare pistol" and it came up on the first page. --commando552 (talk) 13:09, 20 June 2014 (EDT)

Revolver ID

I was going to suggesting bringing in JCordell, but great minds think alike. Since it's an older revolver, maybe Nyles as well. --Funkychinaman (talk) 15:41, 24 August 2014 (EDT)

Revolver ID

Well it's more of a guess, but I like to think of it being an educated guess. I believe it's a Manurhin MR-73 with a 5" barrel. The cylinder release latch and the design of the hammer is consistent with the MR-73. However it is the model with the adjustable rear sights. The front sight is too high for the fixed sight model. It appears that the rear sight was removed - possibly the actor kept snagging the rear sight on his clothing and other things.

It is not a Korth revolver and it lacks the ventilated top rib of the Colt Python and Colt Diamondback. When the movie was made (1983) there were five ,commercial, mass-produced revolver models with full barrel length lugs. The S&W L frame .357 magnum (586/686/581/681), Colt Python, Colt Diamondback, Korth and Manurhin MR-73. The MR-73 comes closest to matching the lines of the revolver in those screencaps. Hope this helped.--Jcordell (talk) 17:52, 24 August 2014 (EDT)

Well right now I have to say that the revolver in "Contraband" looks like it could be a Smith & Wesson Model 27 with the 3.5" barrel. It's a large framed revolver and has lines similar to the S&W N frame. Note that in the one screencap it's obvious that the cylinder does not fill the frame like it would on a Model 29 (44 Magnum) and the forcing cone is longer - like a Model 27/28. I have to go with the 27. Give me time on the other two. --Jcordell (talk) 11:24, 25 August 2014 (EDT)
S&W Model 27-2 - .357 magnum with 3.5" barrel.

Looks like a Smython. The barrel of a Colt Python fitted to the frame of the Smith & Wesson Model 19. This was a very popular conversion done by a few gunsmiths in the seventies and sixties. When Smith brought out the L frame models in 1980 the popularity of the Smython faded. Google and you'll find out more info. --Jcordell (talk) 01:59, 28 August 2014 (EDT)
Smython or sometimes called a "Smolt". Python barrel and a S&W Model 19 frame.
There was also the Couger. The Python barrel fitted to the Ruger Security-Six frame. --Jcordell (talk) 02:03, 28 August 2014 (EDT)

re:Riva Esterina Black Widow

I got that date from an Italian site, but after Google translating (I speak zero Italian) it the date wasn't when it was made, but rather talking abut some journal it appeared in in 1982 (I think). I'm not quite sure what this site is or what it is talking about, but it is one of the only sites on the web that even mentions this gun. --commando552 (talk) 12:16, 28 August 2014 (EDT)

Long weapon

I hear it a first time. This is nowhere so - just look at all other movies! Mívaj and 325 revolvers, some submachine guns - 375 (short), 500 long guns, etc! It looks even better as rifle 400px a width so there I do not see anything :) Where it here 300 and 400?!? - http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Pulp_Fiction#Remington_870

or where - http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Predator

and this is long or short? - http://www.imfdb.org/index.php?title=Predator&action=edit&section=16

and here is was? - http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Commando

or here - http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Rambo_III

and 100, 500, 1000 others ...

O.K. but to be about as hard to fix something for the hundreds of films on this web, it is too late, it would have to have been at the outset somehow identify. And pictures of weapons are different - there are oblong shape, in others squares etc. I did the approximate proportionality. I give 400 for smg, 300 pistols, 450 rifles or machine guns and 500 when they are belonging bayonet or silencer. But still I do not know how to determine the size Bazookas and rocket launchers and similar weapons. --Pandolfini (talk) 14:12, 17 August 2015 (EDT)

Andy Sidaris movie Guns

Good work, Greg, nice to see yet another 'bad' movie from Andy. Indeed I think he has a box of guns that he uses for all movies, that's why for gun ID you only have to check his other movies hahaha The unidentified pistol keeps me wondering again, I think it is really the same one as in "Savage Beach" but it still is a mystery to me. Looks like an unknown super-compact CZ-75, from what I see in your images - PeeWee055 (talk) 06:39, 31 August 2015 (EDT)
One thing I noticed when I had a last look at the Hard Ticket to Hawaii page; two actors don't have pages yet.Can you please create these? Hi Greg, your use of "Ik ben blij om u te helpen!" was correct, but "u" is Dutch for "you" in a sensed that you use it with teachers, parents and older people. Maybe I am older (haha) but for next time, please use "je" which is also Dutch for "you" but more informal and used by friends and colleagues. Have a good weekend, PeeWee055 (talk) 03:09, 15 January 2016 (EST)

Malibu Express

Hi Greg, thanks for completing yet another chapter in the "bible of bad taste"! Of course many guns are the same but it is good fun anyhow. By the way, the shotgun you mention as Remington Model 31 is more probably a Ithaca 37 long barrel Hunting Version. The wooden forestock of the Ithaca looks more like the one on the picture, with the ribs extending all the way to the front. Looking forward to the last movies on IMFDB, PeeWee055 (talk) 06:40, 4 June 2016 (EDT)

Ah, yes! You are right, thanks for pointing that out. It seems to have the forestock of the Ithaca but of course the absence of an ejection port is 100% proof that this is a Remington instead . After a few years on IMFDB I should know better, always try to find double-proof for your claim! Take care, PeeWee055 (talk) 09:05, 5 June 2016 (EDT)

Unknown pistol in "Cabbages and Kings"

Hello, Greg-Z! It's only my guess, but the unknown pistol in Cabbages and Kings looks similar to Broqua & Scholberg Marked .44 Russian Single Shot Pistol much more shots from differents racurses, that previosly appers in The Extraordinary Adventures of Mr. West in the Land of the Bolsheviks. Pyramid Silent (talk) 16:43, 27 November 2016 (EST)

It seems right. I'm also have another question: How do yot thing, is my ID in Mr West page correct, or it' King's pistol. Pyramid Silent (talk) 04:36, 14 December 2016 (EST)

Image restoring

Hello, Greg-Z! Sorry for unusial request: a few years ago, I had uploads the film:

Indian Trade Musket

for the page Shadow of the Wolf. Later, this file was unused (it's was wrong ID), and, it was delited. RE: Help with M16s

Well, there's some guys that are better than me on the ARs - I'm no super expert or anything. But I'll be happy to check 'em out nonetheless. ;) StanTheMan (talk) 15:03, 24 December 2016 (EST)

No problem. StanTheMan (talk) 16:48, 24 December 2016 (EST)
Made some remarks in the other one's talk page but as for Donato and Daughter, if you mean the 6906, I think that one is a solid ID. Can't make out the bulge in that pic but I'm sure it has it - The 3913 never had the 'hooked' trigger guard to my knowledge. And it has the third-gen grips which rule out the earlier 669.
