Season 16 of Law & Order saw the return of Jesse L. Martin as Det. Ed Green, following his character having been wounded in the line of duty late in Season 15. His temporary replacement, Det. Nick Falco (Michael Imperioli), also made an appearance this season as a person of interest in a murder.
This would be the final season for both Dennis Farina, who had played Det. Joe Fontana for two seasons, and Annie Parisse, who had played ADA Alexandra Borgia for a season and a half. Within the show, Fontana retired from the force, while Borgia was killed off in the season finale (meaning that ADAs had a higher mortality rate than the cops on this show.) Det. Green would be bumped up to the role of senior detective for Season 17, with Milena Govich, who had appeared as a different character this season as well as the Dick Wolf series Conviction, joining the show as Det. Nina Cassady, and Alana de la Garza would be introduced as ADA Connie Rubirosa.
Cast:
- Law
- Detective Joe Fontana - Dennis Farina
- Detective Ed Green - Jesse L. Martin
- Lieutenant Anita Van Buren - S. Epatha Merkerson
- Order
- Executive Assistant District Attorney Jack McCoy - Sam Waterston
- Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Borgia - Annie Parisse
- District Attorney Arthur Branch - Fred Dalton Thompson
The following weapons were used in Season 16 of the television series Law & Order:
Revolvers
Smith & Wesson Model 19 Snub Nose
Detective Joe Fontana (Dennis Farina) carries a Smith & Wesson Model 19 Snub Nose as his service weapon. Although the Model 19 was not on the NYPD approved carry list, Fontana (like Dennis Farina) had started his career in the Chicago Police Department, and may have been grandfathered in.
Smith & Wesson Model 36
A Smith & Wesson Model 36 is found in "Flaw" (S16E02). Another is found in "New York Minute" (S16E08).
Smith & Wesson Model 66 "Non Gun"
Robert Barnes (Thomas Sadoski) uses a Smith & Wesson Model 66 "Non Gun" in "Criminal Law" (S16E09).
Colt King Cobra
Vincent (Johnny Mez) is seen with a Colt King Cobra in the cold open of "Invaders" (S16E22).
Pistols
Glock 19
Detectives Ed Green (Jesse L. Martin) and other NYPD officers are armed with Glock 19s.
Taurus PT92AFS
Dan Flood (Ari Fliakos) uses a Taurus PT92AFS in "Ghosts" (S16E03). Cyrus Lowell (uncredited) uses one in "Thinking Makes It So" (S16E18).
M1911A1
An M1911A1 is used as the murder weapon in "Criminal Law" (S16E09).
Beretta Jetfire
Jeremy Miller (Eugene Jones III) shoots himself with a stainless Beretta Jetfire in "Positive" (S16E19).
Kahr K9 Stainless
Henry Young (Bambadjan Bamba) threatens Det. Nick Falco (Michael Imperioli) with a Kahr K9 Stainless in "Hindsight" (S16E21). He later hands it over to Falco. Since the K9 was approved for use by the NYPD at the time, there's a chance this is Falco's personal backup weapon.
Unknown handgun 1
Ratko Petrovich (Uliks Fehmiu) opens fire on ESU with an unknown handgun in "Kingmaker" (S16E20). It's likely the PT92AFS used all seasons, but there's not enough to make a proper ID.
Unknown handgun 2
Kevin Almonte (Ritchie Coster) carries an unidentifiable handgun in a shoulder holster in "Invaders" (S16E22). It is impossible to make an ID.
Shotguns
Ithaca 37
ESU officers carry Ithaca 37 shotguns.
Mossberg 500 Cruiser
Vincent (Johnny Mez) fires a Mossberg 500 Cruiser in "Invaders" (S16E22).
Rifles / Carbines
M4 Carbine
ESU officers are armed with M4 Carbines.
AK-type rifle
Iraqi insurgents are seen using an AK-type rifle in a videotape. It's impossible to make a proper identification.
Other
Collection of Guns
Dets. Fontana and Green bust an illegal arms dealer in "Heart of Darkness" (S16E13).
