Call of Duty 2: Big Red One is a part of the Call of Duty series set in World War II that was developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. It is the second time that Treyarch was involved as a developer after United Offensive and is the second console-exclusive game in the series after Finest Hour. The storyline consists of the history of the Big Red One, the 1st Infantry Division of the United States which is eponymous for the title. The game tells a side story of Call of Duty 2 which was also released in the same year. Conceptually, it breaks with its predecessors in the sense that throughout the game a soldier of one unit is followed.
Many of the weapon animations and models were reused in Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War - Final Fronts.
Note: An emulator was used to capture very high-resolution screenshots of this game for clarity. This upscaling required disabling some post-processing effects due to resulting graphical glitches. All screenshots have been checked against original PS2 footage to ensure that any glitches noted on this page are also present in the PS2 version.

Pistols
For the first time in the series, all pistols can be dual-wielded. However, dual-wielding works differently compared to future games, as it is not a selectable "attachment", but rather a class-specific bonus when a player obtains a specific number of points in multiplayer. Dual-wielding mechanics are different compared to other games, as weapons are fired in a fixed alternating fashion (as opposed to allowing the player to fire an individual weapon whenever they please); it is due to this that both weapons have a fixed on-screen reloading animation, depicting the player reloading both pistols rather than reloading one pistol at a time.
Pistols only appear in mulitplayer, they do not appear in singleplayer.

Walther P38
Submachine Guns
Beretta Model 38 Hybrid
A hybrid of the Beretta Model 38/42 and the Model 38/44, erroneously referred to as the earlier Model 38A, appears in the game; it has the 38/42's recoil spring extension at the back of the receiver, and the 38/44's unfluted barrel. It is used by the Italians during the Sicilian invasion level.
M1A1 Thompson
The player starts with an M1A1 Thompson after being promoted to Corporal in the Piano Lupo level. The Bonus Materials description inaccurately states that it was used by gangsters during the Prohibition era, whereas it was the M1921; in fact, the M1A1 wasn't in existence during that time.
MAS-38
The MAS-38 is used by the Vichy French forces in the second level.
MP40
The MP40 is one of the most common weapons found in the game, used virtually by every German later in the game; like the Beretta, it is incorrectly shown firing from a closed bolt.
Rifles
Carcano M38
The Carcano M38 is used by the Italians in the "Piano Lupo" level only. The world model, however, is a Karabiner 98k.
Gewehr 43
The Gewehr 43 is another widely used weapon that can be found on German soldiers later in the game.
Karabiner 98k
The Karabiner 98k is the rifle used by the Germans in almost every mission. A scoped sniper rifle version with a mounted Zeiss ZF41 scope can be found in some levels.
M1 Carbine
The M1 Carbine is another widely used weapon that can be found on U.S soldiers later in the game. It uses a V-notch rear sight instead of an aperture. The HUD icon depicts the M1A1 variant, which has a folding stock.
M1 Garand
The player starts with an M1 Garand rifle on most of the mission. Virtually every U.S soldier is equipped with this rifle in the game. When reloading, it appears that the player character uses his hand in a quick motion to prevent the bolt from slamming after inserting a clip, and then manually pushes it forward. This is the only Call of Duty game where this method is used; in the others, the player character either lets the bolt snap automatically forward or needs to push it himself. The M1 Garand in-game cannot be reloaded until the player fires all 8 rounds.
M1903A4 Springfield
The M1903A4 Sniper Rifle can be found in some levels.
MAS-36
The MAS-36 rifle is used by the French. Only available in the second level after the tutorial. It is incorrectly referred to as a self-loading rifle in the game's weapons list. Like the Carcano carbine, the world model for the MAS-36 appears as a Karabiner 98k.
Sturmgewehr 44
The Sturmgewehr 44 is an assault rifle mostly used by the Germans in the Omaha Beach level.
Machine Guns
Breda Modello 30
The Breda M30 can be found in the hands of the Italians in the "Piano Lupo" level.
Browning M1919A6
The Browning M1919A6 is a support weapon that can be found mounted on some walls. The player starts with the M1919A6 in the level "Operation Husky".
Chatellerault Mle. 1924/29
The Chatellerault M1924/29 is a support weapon used by the French in the second level.
M1918A2 Browning Automatic Rifle
The M1918A2 Browning Automatic Rifle is usable in some levels. The Bonus Materials description makes a similar mistake as with the Thompson, by stating that the M1918A2 BAR was Clyde Barrow's weapon choice when it was actually a cut-down version of the original M1918, and the M1918A2 wasn't in existence during his crime spree.
MG 34
The MG 34 is a support weapon that can be picked up and found later in the game.
Launchers
M9 Bazooka
The M1 Rocket Launcher "Bazooka" is an anti-tank weapon that is usually found in places where tanks are present.
Panzerfaust
The Panzerfaust is an anti-tank weapon found in the hands of the Germans. It cannot be picked up by the player in the campaign; it is only usable in multiplayer.
Panzerschreck
The Panzerschreck is another anti-tank weapon that is usually found more common than the M9 Bazooka. Just like the M9, it is usually found in places where an armored vehicle is present.
Grenade & Explosives
M18 smoke grenade
Low-detailed M18 smoke grenade are seen hanging on U.S. soldiers' uniforms.
Mk 2 hand grenade
The player starts with Mk 2 hand grenades on almost all the missions. It is thrown without pulling the pin and removing the safety lever.
Model 24 Stielhandgranate
The Model 24 Stielhandgranate is used by the Axis forces and can be picked up. Like the Mk 2 grenade, the Stielhandgranate is thrown without unscrewing the cap or pulling the string.
During the beginning of the mission "Operation Husky", several German naval mines at the coast of Sicily must be destroyed for a safe passage.
Tellermine 35
A field of Tellermine 35 AT mines is seen during the "Kasserine" mission. Several other teller mines are seen during the mission "The Last Crusade" attached on wooden logs.
Mounted Weapons
2 cm Flakvierling 38
Several Flakvierling 38s can be seen during the campaign. It is either spelled "Flak Vierling" or "flakvierling".
2 cm KwK 30
German Sd.Kfz. 222 scout cars are equipped with KwK 30 autocannons.
20 mm MG 151
Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighters have two MG 151 cannons mounted in their wings.
8 cm Granatwerfer 34
Granatwerfer 34 Mortars are used by the Germans and Italians throughout the campaign.
8.8 cm Flak 18
Several Flak AA guns must be disabled in the mission "Tankers". A Flak 18 is available for use in the mission "The Great Crusade".
15 cm Nebelwerfer 41
The 15 cm Nebelwerfer 41. In the missions "Counterattack" and "Crucifix Hill" some Nebelwerfers must be destroyed. They are called "Screaming Mimis" by the GIs.
Breda Modello 37
The Breda Modello 37 appears in the single-player campaign as the "BM37".
Breda Modello 38
Three Breda Modello 38 machine guns are mounted on the Italian Carro Armato M13/40 tank.
Browning M2
The Browning M2 is a heavy support weapon found in stationary positions around the game. As well as on vehicles.
Aircraft
During the campaign mission "Liberators", the player briefly takes control of several Browning M2 Aircraft machine guns.
Quad Mount
The Quad Mount of the Browning machine gun is also seen and used by the player character during the single-player campaign.
Browning M1919A4
Browning M1919A4 machine guns are seen mounted in the Light Tank, M3 Stuarts.
Browning M1919A6
The Browning M1919A6 can also be found mounted on some walls.
Cannone da 47/32 M35
The main gun of the Italian tank is the Cannone da 47/32 M35.
Hotchkiss M1914
A Hotchkiss M1914 is shown in the Bonus Materials. It doesn't seem to appear during gameplay though; Vichy French forces are seen using the MG 42 instead.
