The Heckler & Koch MG5 is a 7.62x51mm NATO general-purpose machine gun manufactured by Heckler & Koch and is a possible successor to the Rheinmetall MG3 as the German military's new GPMG. The weapon was originally named the HK121 by Heckler & Koch, however the name was changed after it was given an official designation by the German military.
