Octopussy (1983)
Original Theatrical Poster for Octopussy (1983)

Octopussy is the 13th entry in the official James Bond film series. The 1983 installment follows James Bond (Roger Moore) as he travels to India and West Germany while investigating the death of a "00" agent who was in possession of a rare Fabergé egg. Of note is the switch from Bond's traditional Walther PPK to the then-new Walther P5 and for one of the earliest appearances of the Steyr AUG. This film was also released the same year Sean Connery returned to the role of Bond in the rival film Never Say Never Again.

The following weapons were used in the film Octopussy:

Handguns

M1911

In the film's opening, a bearded, hefty, lascivious cigar-smoking South American V.I.P. (Brian Coburn) (suspiciously a Fidel Castro look-alike), and Bond (Roger Moore) is seen with holstered M1911 pistols. After getting caught trying to plant a bomb inside the hangar, Bond's gun is taken by a South American Officer (Michael Halphie) who holds it to his back and takes him into custody.

Colt Junior

Octopussy (Maud Adams) carries a nickel plated Colt Junior with pearl grips during the attack on Kamal's palace that is knocked out of her hand by Gobinda (Kabir Bedi). One is also featured in the opening credits.

Walther P5

The Walther P5 is the sidearm of James Bond (Roger Moore) in this film, despite having told Q that he "mislaid my PPK". The P5's use was to appease Walther, who wanted to promote the new pistol. Interesting to note is that the P5 was the same pistol used by Sean Connery in Never Say Never Again, the rival film version of Bond released the same year as Octopussy.

TT-33

General Orlov (Steven Berkoff) carries what appears to be a TT-33 pistol in his holster. He uses it to smash a Fabergé egg to peices for causing them problems by leading Bond there.

Colt Python

One of the U.S. Air Force Base security police guards manning the gate at the West German U.S. Air Force base carries a Colt Python, which he draws on Bond when he attempts to enter with the German Police hot on his tail after stealing the car he is in. Because of the many civilians milling around, the guard is forced to fire his six shots into the air, to alert his comrades to the security threat.

Smith & Wesson Model 36

Shotguns

Assault Rifles

FN FAL

Dressed as Toro, Bond (Roger Moore) passes some South American soldiers carrying FN FAL rifles in the opening scenes. Guards at the Brittish Embassy in West Berlin and a few of Kamal Khan's guards in India also carry these.

MGC M-16 Model Gun Corp.

Most South American soldiers wield Japanese MGC M16 Model Gun Corp. replica rifles with 20 round magazines. The soldiers guarding James Bond (Roger Moore) after his capture are armed with these M16s, after Bond pulls their parachute ripcords, he commandeers one of the soldiers' rifles (which becomes a blank-firing M16A1 the next moment).

M16A1

After pulling the soldiers parachute ripcords sending them up into the air, Bond (Roger Moore) commandeers one of their rifles, now an actual blank-firing M16A1, and uses it to shoot out the truck's left front tire, causing it to crash. Another actual M16A1 rifle appears later on in the hands of a soldier as his comrades are firing a missile at Bond's BD-5J.

Norinco Type 56

Old milled receiver export versions of the Type 56 assault rifle are the armament of the Soviet soldiers accompanying General Orlov (Steven Berkoff) to India. Some of the soldiers in East Germany, as well as the board guards, are also seen with these Chinese made rifles.

Armi-Jager AP-80

Most of the Soviet soldiers in East Germany are seen with Armi-Jager AP-80 rifles.

Steyr AUG

Oddly, carbine versions of the Steyr AUGs are used by a few Soviet soldiers in the movie. This is likely the earliest appearance of the Steyr AUG in a Hollywood film.

AKM

As Bond is trying to escape the circus area in the stolen Mercedes, a soldier can be seen with an AKM just as he gets hit by the barrels Bond bumps over with his car. In an extended clip of that scene, shown in a trailer for the movie, a side view of the front of the rifle is seen when the soldier fires, clearly identifying it as an AKM. Another soldier is seen with one where the car is getting lifted out of the river.

AKS

Orlov's car is inspected by soldiers after its lifted out of the water, one of whom is seen equipped with an AKS in a sling on his shoulder. During the final fight at Kamal's palace one of his guards can also be seen with one as they're trying to kill Bond who is pursuing the Afghan prince.

A soldier is seen with an Sa vz. 58 V assault rifle as General Gogol (Walter Gotell) asks for Orlov's current location after seeing the jewels in the trunk of his car. One of Kamal Khan's guards is also seen with one, using it to shoot at Bond (Roger Moore) who kills him, takes the gun, and uses it (most notably while sliding down the banister).
