|
The Vexxer is a 2007 German film comedy and the sequel to the 2004 film Der Wixxer which both parody the Edgar Wallace adaptations of the 1950s and 1960s. The subtitle "Still not based on a novel by Edgar Wallace" also testifies to this. Chief Inspector Even Longer and Inspector Very Long are once again investigating together on behalf of Scotland Yard in an already well-known case: he is once again on the loose in London; that terrible supervillain who, in his ghastly costume, has been terrifying the British capital for years. Also this time Longer and his always good-humored partner Long do not give up so easily.
At the end of the film, a sequel Triple WixXx is announced, but it was canceled in 2015.
The following weapons were used in the film The Vexxer:
Pistols
CZ 70
Unlike the Colt Python revolver in the previous film, Chief Inspector Even Longer (Oliver Kalkofe) wields a CZ 70 throughout the movie. This pistol could be a reference for the CZ 27 used in various Edgar Wallace movies.
Walther PPK
Inspector Very Long (Bastian Pastewka) remains faithful to his Walther PPK which this time he uses more often.
FN Model 1922
An FN Model 1922 is held by Lord David Dickham (Joachim Fuchsberger) at the film's climax which is most likely a homage to the FN Model 1900 he used in The Devil's Daffodil or its appearance in Face of the Frog, the first German adaptation of the Rialto Film series. Joachim Fuchsberger is one of four actors who already starred in Edgar Wallace films. The other ones are Ingrid van Bergen, Chris Howland, and Wolfgang Völz.
FIE Titan
What appears to be an FIE Titan pocket pistol is used by Victoria Dickham (Christiane Paul).
Walther P38
BND Agent Inge Lenßen (Hella von Sinnen) is seen with a Walther P38.
Rifles
Takedown Sniper Rifle
The Wixxer uses an unknown takedown sniper rifle.
Karabiner 98k
A Karabiner 98k is seen during Inspector Very Long's flashback of the unsolved death of his father.
Other
Gun Cabinet
During Long's flashback, a gun cabinet is seen containing several long arms.
