Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the third game in the second Tomb Raider reboot series. Developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix, it was released in September 2018 for the PlayStation 4, XBOX One and Microsoft Windows via Steam. The guns in this game have been deliberately redesigned to avoid copyright issues, and thus appear different to their real-life counterparts.
DLC weapons are marked with *
The following weapons appear in the video game Shadow of the Tomb Raider:
Handguns
All player-obtainable handguns in the game can be upgraded to have an attachable pistol sight and flare.
CZ-75
A Pistol based on the CZ-75 is called the "C&T S55" in game.
Desert Eagle Mark XIX
The Desert Eagle is imaginatively renamed the "River Hawk" and is the most powerful self-loading pistol in the game. Unlike a real Desert Eagle, the trigger guard is shaped differently, and there is no safety catch on the slide.
H&K USP Match*
A staple of the Tomb Raider series since Angelina Jolie stepped into Lara's boots back in 2001, this Heckler & Koch USP-based pistol is available as a non-upgradeable weapon called the "K&H KAP." The model is part of the Croft Edition Extras DLC.
Luger P08*
A Luger P08 with integrated suppressor is known as the "Silent Sting" in game. The name is likely an allusion to the 1962 environmental science book "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson.
M1911/Smith & Wesson 645 hybrid
A hybrid of an M1911 variant and the Smith & Wesson 645 is called the "AB .45" in-game (short for Altar Boy).
Smith & Wesson Model 19
The "J&D Model 27" is based on a Smith & Wesson Model 19. The number 27 may refer to the Smith & Wesson Model 27, but it has the longer cylinder and smaller frame gap of the Model 19. In fact, the game model's cylinder appears to have no frame gap at all.
Shotguns
Player shotguns can be upgraded to have attachable spreader chokes.
12-Gauge Double Barrelled Shotgun*
Appearing as part of the Croft Edition Extras DLC, a 12-Gauge Double Barrelled Shotgun appears as the "Sedgwick 707". Its name seems to hint that it is based on one of the Savage double-barrelled shotguns.
Benelli M3 Super 90*
The Force of Chaos Gear DLC features the "Whispering Scourge" suppressed shotgun, which is based on the Benelli M3 Super 90 with an external suppressor (it can strangely be fitted with the spreader choke at the same time). It appears to have been fitted with the foregrip from the M3's successor, the M4 Super 90, as well as a stock-mounted shell holder. It is only operated in pump-action mode. The developers decided to copy the animation from the Mossberg pump-action shotgun below. As a result, Lara holds the shotgun like it has a rifle grip, rather than using the pistol grip.
Daewoo USAS-12
The "WHWS-16" fully-automatic shotgun is based primarily off the Daewoo USAS-12, but it also borrows design elements from the SIG-Sauer SIG551-A1.
Franchi SPAS-12
The Franchi SPAS-12 is called the "TAEV 16." It functions in semi-automatic mode, offering a balance between fire rate and shot power.
Mossberg 500AT
The Mossberg 500AT forms the basis for the "Bishop 600" pump-action shotgun. A golden version of this gun is available as a Square Enix social reward.
Submachine Guns
H&K MP5A3
An SMG based on the Heckler & Koch MP5A3 is called the "WASP 11," with the sliding stock removed along with its adjustment lever (there is no sling hook as would be found on the SD1-style receiver cap). The magazine is also straight and comes down vertically. This model is placed in the "rifle" slot and thus uses the in-game rifle ammo, despite being a 9mm submachine gun.
MAC-10
An SMG based on the Ingram MAC-10 is known as the "NEP-14" in game. This is classified as a "handgun," so at least this model uses appropriate ammo. For game balance, it features a smaller magazine than the usual MAC 10, with a 20-round capacity.
Assault/Battle Rifles
AAC Honey Badger*
A non-upgradeable DLC weapon, the AAC Honey Badger-type rifle is known as the "Umbrage 3-80." It has an integrated suppressor and is also the only rifle to feature an actual mass produced grenade launcher rather than an improvised version. For some reason, the game model does not have a magazine.
FN FNC
A rifle resembling the Indonesian variant of the FN FNC, but also with a front hand grip and sight similar to an IMI Galil, appears as the "Vicar Mark II." As well as being in-keeping with the religiously themed names of Trinity's arsenal, its name also may be an allusion to the Vickers Mk1 machine gun.
FN FAL
Another highly imaginative rename, the FN FAL is known as the "GF RAL." Like the L1A1 SLR variant previously used by the British army, it only fires in semi-auto mode.
FN SCAR-L
FN SCAR-L CQC rifles with EOTech-style red dot sights and ACR stocks are used by Trinity soldiers. Despite the red-dot sights however, the front iron sights are still in their upright position for some reason. In stark contrast to guns that Lara can get hold of, this model is highly accurate to the original. This supports the idea that gun model inaccuracies were deliberate to avoid copyright issues.
Heckler & Koch G36KV
The Heckler & Koch G36KV rifle is used by Lara during the prologue part in Mexico. The rifle seems to be outfitted with custom gas block and some sort of RIS custom handguard. Besides that, it is modeled rather closely to the original weapon.
Custom AK rifles
Fictional AK-style rifle are used by Trinity mercenaries during the prologue part in Mexico. The rifle's design does not follow any specific real-world model, instead combining some of the overall shape of the AK-103 rifle, combined with AK-12/AK-15 style gas block, front sight post, and muzzle brake.
Machine Guns
FN M249
This FN M249-based machine gun is known as the "PN-TF-267" (PN-TF being an abbreviation of Pontiff). This is placed in the machine gun/assault rifle slot. Note the plastic stock, as on the later revisions of M249.
Other
Orion Flare Gun
All weapons that the game classifies as sidearms can be equipped with an underbarrel flare launcher, seemingly a stripped-down Orion Flare Gun.
RM Equipment M203PI*
As mentioned above, "Umbrage 3-80" rifle comes with an actual mass-produced grenade launcher, based on the RM Equipment M203PI, but with a differently-shaped grip.
