Batman is the 1989 feature film adaptation of the DC Comics character. Directed by Tim Burton (Planet of the Apes), Michael Keaton stars as Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, who matches wits with the Joker (Jack Nicholson). This cycle of Batman films would span 4 films (including Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin) before Christopher Nolan's "reboot" of the franchise in 2005 with Batman Begins.
The following weapons were used in the film Batman:
WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Handguns
M1911A1
Bob (Tracey Walter) uses a M1911A1 throughout the movie on several occasions. A random goon also uses one later in the movie.
Colt New Service
Jack Napier/The Joker (Jack Nicholson) uses a Colt New Service throughout most of the film including the BANG flag gun at the film's climax and flashback, where young Napier (Hugo E. Blick) is seen using the revolver in an alley. The only exception is one small edit when he pulls back the hammer in the Axis Chemical plant. A different revolver was used for this one shot.
Smith & Wesson Model 14
In a brief shot during the factory gunfight, Napier's Colt New Service changes to a Smith & Wesson Model 14, then changes back.
Smith & Wesson Model 15-3
The Joker (Jack Nicholson) uses a Smith & Wesson Model 15-3 with a custom 21 inch barrel to shoot down the Batwing. We later see that the gun has a telescoping barrel when the Joker collapses it.
Smith & Wesson Model 1
The Joker (Jack Nicholson) uses a Smith & Wesson Model 1 during a confrontation with Bruce Wayne (Michael Keaton).
Smith & Wesson Model 19
Smith & Wesson Model 19 Revolvers appear frequently throughout the film, notably in the hands of Nick (Christopher Fairbank), a mugger, at the beginning of the film. Another Model 19 is seen carried by Lieutenant Eckhardt (William Hootkins).
Smith & Wesson Model 10
Gotham City Police Officers are seen with standard Smith & Wesson Model 10 revolvers.
Smith & Wesson M1917 Revolver
Carl Grissom (Jack Palance) tries to reach for what appears to be a Smith & Wesson M1917 revolver.
Webley Mk IV
Some of Joker's goons are armed with what appear to be Webley Mk IV revolvers in some scenes.
Submachine Guns
M1928 Thompson
The Joker's goons use M1928 Thompson Submachine Guns multiple times throughout the movie.
Beretta M38A (Villar-Perosa M1915 mockup)
One of the submachine guns used by the Joker's mime goons appears to be a Villar-Perosa M1915 SMG. This is the exact same mock-up that was previously used in the 1987 film The Sicilian (because both films had the same armorers - Bapty & Co.). The gun is made of two stripped, upside down, Beretta M38A SMG's with a pistol grip from a German MG42 mounted on it. The Beretta was stripped of it's wooden housing, triggers (dual on the Beretta), barrel shroud and muzzle brake.
Special
IMI Uzi
On Jack Napier's desk at his hideout, one of the photographs in a CIA file shows a dead soldier holding an IMI Uzi with a unfolded stock, having been killed by a nerve gas that the Joker would eventually modify as his Smilex gas.
Machine Guns
Browning M1919
The guns that pop out of the Batmobile's fenders are two Browning M1919s. Seen toward the end of the movie as the Batmobile is entering the chemical plant.
GE M134 Minigun
Batman (Michael Keaton) has a mocked-up GE M134 Minigun on the Batwing, and uses it to shoot at The Joker near the end of the movie.
Other
Krieghoff Model L flare pistol
The Joker uses a Krieghoff Model L flare pistol to shoot his TV, then proceeds to hand it to Bob. The film's novelization refers to the flare gun as a sawed-off shotgun.
