The fourth season begins a new era of development for the series following the departure of showrunner Dave Erickson and his replacement by Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg. The main feature of the season is the change of direction from the Clark family to Morgan Jones (Lennie James), a character from the main show who left Virginia after defeating Negan. After finding new companions, Morgan meets the Madison group. Together, the heroes continue their fight for survival, confronting first a hostile group known as "The Vultures" and then a crazy woman named Martha. The season is directed by Michael Satrazemis, Magnus Martens and others, consists of sixteen episodes and was premiered on April 15, 2018 on AMC.

A custom nickel-plated Single Action Army revolver made by Cimarron is the sidearm carried by John Dorie (Garret Dillahunt).
Smith & Wesson Model 60
Leland (Clint James) uses a snub Smith & Wesson Model 60-15 revolver in Season 4's premiere "What's Your Story?" (S4E01).

Althea (Maggie Grace) is seen armed with what appears to be a XM177E2 with a regular birdcage flash hider in Season 4's premiere "What's Your Story?" (S4E01).
Inland M1 Scout Carbine
In Season 4's premiere "What's Your Story" (S4E01), one of Leland's men (Efka Kvaraciejus) uses an Inland M1 Scout Carbine. This gun is an anachronism since the outbreak started in 2010 and the Inland M1 was introduced to the US market in 2016.
Micro Draco AK
Nicholas Clark (Frank Dillane) carries a Century Arms Micro Draco AK in Season 4's premiere "What's Your Story?" (S4E01). Note: it's the same prop used in The Fate of the Furious from Xtreme Props.
Winchester Model 1873
John Dorie (Garret Dillahunt) uses a Winchester Model 1873 made by Cimarron in Season 4's Premiere "What's Your Story" (S4E01).
Shotguns
Remington 870 TAC-14
Luciana Galvez (Danay Garcia) uses a non-NFA Remington 870 TAC-14 with an older 870 handguard as her weapon of choice in Season 4, most notably in Season 4's premiere "What's Your Story?" (S4E01). According to Xtreme Props, this is a 870 TAC-14. Note: even though this shotgun is more than likely standing in for a real sawed-off 870, this particular 870 is an anachronism since the outbreak started in 2010 and the 870 TAC-14 was introduced to the US market in 2017.
12 Gauge Over/Under Shotgun
One of the men in Leland's group holds Morgan's group with a 12 Gauge Over/Under Shotgun in "What's Your Story?" (S4E01).
