Sherlock Holmes is the famous literary character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that is considered one of the most important staples of the mystery genre. The character has been featured for over a century in various forms of media including feature films and television series.

  • The Sign of Four (1923) - A 1923 British screen adaptation of same title novel, starring Eille Norwood as Sherlock Holmes and Arthur M. Cullin as Dr. Watson.
  • Silver Blaze (also released as Murder at the Baskervilles) - A 1937 British movie, very losely adapted from "The Adventure of Silver Blaze" short story, starring Arthur Wontner as Sherlock Holmes and Ian Fleming as Dr. Watson. This is the fifth and the last screen appearance of Wontner as Sherlock Holmes.
  • Sherlock Holmes and the Voice of Terror - A 1942 movie, the third of Rathbone-Bruce filmes, with the story set during WW2. The story isn't adapted from Arthur Conan Doyle's works but include elements of "His Last Bow".
  • Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon - A 1943 movie, the fourth of Rathbone-Bruce filmes, with the story set during WW2. The story isn't adapted from Arthur Conan Doyle's works but include elements of "The Adventure of the Dancing Men".
  • Sherlock Holmes in Washington - A 1943 movie, the fifth of Rathbone-Bruce filmes, with the story set during WW2. Original story, not based on Arthur Conan Doyle's works.
