Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (MoHAA) is a first-person shooter video game developed by 2015, Inc., on a modified version of the id Tech 3 engine (Quake III Arena engine). The game was published by Electronic Arts for the PC and released between January 22-February 15, 2002, later published by Aspyr for Mac OS X on August of the same year, and again for Linux in 2004. It is the third main installment of the series, the first to be developed for the PC rather than consoles. The game was a critical and commercial success, considered to be a foundation for many future first-person shooter games inspired by it. One iteration is the Call of Duty (CoD) franchise, originally created by Infinity Ward (IW). Incidentally, the franchise was founded by MoHAAs former lead designers, Jason West and Vince Zampella, both whom later founded Respawn Entertainment after their departure from Infinity Ward. Also worth noting is retried USMC Captain Dale Dye has served as a military advisor for the development of the game, as well as provided voice-over for the background instructor in the training mission of MoHAA.
The main sidearm used for all US Forces is the Colt M1911A1 pistol. It is the standard pistol for US forces in multiplayer.

The game's story is a revised and continuous version of the original game, set between 1942-1945 in Algeria, Norway, France, and Germany. Once again, the story follows Mike Powell, another US Army lieutenant; an infantryman first served with the 34th Infantry Division, later assigned to the 1st and then 2nd Ranger Battalions, finally recruited to the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the same as the original game's protagonist, Jimmy Patterson. Both characters are either assigned to different missions or fighting on the same grounds simultaneously, though story-wise they do not meet each other whatsoever.
The High Standard HDM pistol is available only in some singleplayer missions in Allied Assault, where Powell goes undercover. It makes no appearance in either Spearhead or Breakthrough, where it is only usable by a cheat. It is not available in multiplayer, except on modified servers.

Webley Mk.IV
+
MoHAA received two expansions, both introducing new single-player campaigns, multiplayer maps and game modes, weapons, characters, and various fixes or gameplay additions. the first expansion, Spearhead (MoHAA:SH), was developed by TKO Software, Inc. and released on November 12, 2002. The story of Spearhead follows Sgt. Jack Barnes (voiced by Gary Oldman), a paratrooper with the US Army's 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. The campaign takes place in Normandy, Belgium and Berlin, as well as introducing two new allied factions; the British Army and the Soviet Red Army.
Refered to simply as the "Webley revolver", the Webley Mk. IV revolver appears in the D-Day missions of Spearhead, where the British paratroopers give one to Barnes. It is also available to the british forces in multiplayer in Spearhead and Breakthrough.

The second expansion, Breakthrough (MoHAA:BT), was developed by EA Los Angeles and released on September 22, 2003. The story of Breakthrough follows Sgt. John Baker, an infantryman with the US Army's 34th Infantry Division. The campaign takes place in Tunisia, Sicily, and Italy, as well as introducing a new axis faction; the Italian Army.
The Nagant M1895 revolver is available to Barnes in the first Berlin mission in Spearhead. It is also available to the Russian forces in multiplayer in Spearhead and Breakthrough. An inaccuracy during gameplay can be noticed during the revolvers reloading sequence, the revolver is shown as being reloaded whilst the hammer is cocked, this is not possible in real life as the cylinder is locked in place when the hammer is cocked.

Walther P38
+
As usual for early Medal of Honor titles; the player can only use a pre-assigned loadout of weaponry with enemy weapons that fall under the same category instead providing ammo to the player when picked up (even when both weapons wouldn't share ammo like the Thompson and MP 40) though oddly unlike the PS1 games, this is not a technical limitation as grenades, cheats and a few specific instances do give the player multiple weapons in the same category slot.
The Walther P38 pistol is used by the German forces in both single and multiplayer.

All Handguns can be used for a melee attack in the original game as a last-ditch attack with the expansions adding this feature to most other weapons.

MP 40
The Beretta M38 sub-machine gun is used by Italian forces in Breakthrough. The game simply calls it "Moschetto".
+
The MP 40 is used by German Wehrmacht and SS soldiers, usually seen in the hands of officers and NCOs. In the single-player campaigns, the MP 40 is one of the most common weapons seen in the missions. In multiplayer, it is the dedicated SMG used by the German faction.

The MP 40 in-game is one of the weapons that lacks a modeled bolt handle. Meaning that when reloading the weapon, the handle is actually missing, although the animation does show the character pulling an imaginary handle. Also, the handling animation show the character gripping the weapon from the magazine, which in real life is very inaccurate.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault - Spearhead (2002)
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault - Breakthrough (2003)

Incidentally, the franchise was founded by MoHAA's former lead designers, Jason West and Vince Zampella, both whom later founded Respawn Entertainment after their departure from Infinity Ward. Also worth noting is retried USMC Captain Dale Dye has served as a military advisor for the development of the game, as well as provided voice-over for the background instructor in the training mission of MoHAA.

The following weapons appear in the video game Medal of Honor: Allied Assault:

Handguns

All Handguns can be used for a melee attack in the original game as a last-ditch attack with the expansions adding this feature to most other weapons.

Beretta M1934

Introduced in the Breakthrough expansion pack, the Beretta M1934 incorrectly features a 15-round magazine, when in reality it only has a 7-round magazine. Appears simply as "Beretta".

Colt M1911A1

The main sidearm used for all US Forces is the Colt M1911A1 pistol. It is the standard pistol for US forces in multiplayer.

High Standard HDM

The High Standard HDM pistol is available only in some singleplayer missions in Allied Assault, where Powell goes undercover. It is not available in multiplayer, except on modified servers. It is oddly depicted as manually-operated as the player character has to manually operate the slide to chamber a round after every shot.

Webley .38 Mk IV

Refered to simply as the "Webley Revolver", the Webley .38 Mk IV revolver appears in the D-Day missions of Spearhead, where the British paratroopers give one to Barnes. It is also available to the british forces in multiplayer in Spearhead and Breakthrough.

Nagant M1895

The Nagant M1895 revolver is available to Barnes in the first Berlin mission in Spearhead. It is also available to the Russian forces in multiplayer in Spearhead and Breakthrough. An inaccuracy during gameplay can be noticed during the revolver's reloading sequence; the revolver is shown as being reloaded whilst the hammer is cocked, but this is not possible in real life as the cylinder is locked in place when the hammer is cocked.

Walther P38

The Walther P38 pistol is used by the German forces in both single and multiplayer. It is only usable via cheats in single player outside of Spearhead where Barnes is equipped with captured German weapons in the Bastogne missions.

Ironically, for comparison: the in-game Browning Automatic Rifle M1918A2 which also has the bolt handle on the left side, does actually feature a modeled handle. It is unclear why the developers have overlooked this part when modeling the MP 40.

PPSh-41

The PPSh-41 is introduced in the Berlin mission in Spearhead. In the first expansion pack, Spearhead, it incorrectly had a 45 round magazine and a low rate of fire, in stark contrast to the real weapon. The second expansion pack, Breakthrough, keeps the low rate of fire and corrects the magazine size to a 71 round magazine.

Thompson M1A1

The Thompson M1A1 is used by US Army soldiers, usually seen in the hands of officers. In the single-player campaigns, it is either already available within the player's inventory, or can be picked up from fallen NPCs. In multiplayer, it is the dedicated SMG used by the US faction. The Thompson in-game is one of the weapons that lacks a modeled bolt actuator. Meaning that when reloading the weapon, the actuator is actually part of the weapon's texture, although the animation does show the character pulling the actuator back.

The L42A1's appearance is anachronistic, as it did not appear until the early 1970's. A more suitable weapon that could have been used would have been the Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I(T).

Machine Guns

Breda Modello 30

The Breda Modello 30 is introduced in the Breakthrough expansion pack. Similarly to the Degtyaryov DTM-44, it is seen in fixed positions, despite being intended as an infantry-portable light machine gun; the Breda Modello 37 would be more appropriate for this role. A portable version was added in a patch but it only appears in multiplayer, even with cheats.

M18 Smoke Grenade

The M18 smoke grenade is used during Spearhead's D-Day mission to provide temporary cover. What appears to be a slight reskin of the M18 is available to the Russians, incorrectly referred to as the "RDG-1". Oddly despite being fully functional against AI in both Spearhead and Breakthrough, only the former gives the player smoke grenades in its campaign, with Breakthrough only having smoke grenades in multiplayer without cheating.
