Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is the first television spin-off of the series Law & Order. The series (sometimes referred to as Law & Order: SVU) focuses on the detectives of the NYPD's Special Victims Unit, who investigate primarily sexually-based offenses. Joining the regular cast would be Dann Florek, who reprised his role as Captain Don Cragen from the first three seasons of Law & Order and Richard Belzer, who had previously appeared as Det. John Munch from the series Homicide: Life on the Street in a crossover episode of Law & Order and became a full time cast member for this series.
