Battlefield 2042 is an upcoming first-person shooter developed by Swedish game developer DICE and published by Electronic Arts. It is the twelfth main entry in EA's large-scale Battlefield FPS series, and is the first entry to take place in a modern/near future setting since 2013's Battlefield 4.
A direct sequel to Battlefield 4, the game is set in the year 2042 and features the United States and Russia as Earth's last two superpowers, after environmental disasters, economic crises, rising sea levels, and resource shortages plunged the world into chaos. As the world recovers from a decade of crises, the two nations use former military personnel from refugee groups, who call themselves "Non-Patriated", in Task Forces to fight each other in proxy wars for control of the new world that has emerged. These refugees are distrustful of the governments that exiled them and refused them safety in the previous years of hardship, but must choose a side to fight for their future.
The game features maps set in exotic locations, such as Egypt, Singapore, Seoul, and Antarctica, with weather events like sandstorms and tornadoes rolling in mid-match to affect the flow of gameplay.
The following weapons appear in the video game Battlefield 2042:
Overview
Battlefield 2042 foregoes the famous class system of all previous Battlefield games, instead using a system called "Specialists", who each have their own unique active and passive abilities, but they still resemble the old class system (Assault, Engineer, Medic, Support, and Recon). The rest of their loadout is fully customizable, allowing players more freedom in their classes and not forcing each class to use a certain category of weapon.
There are 10 specialists at launch (but only 4 are known at this point in time), each with unique abilities.
Handguns
Glock 18
The Glock 18 appears in the game as the "G57", implying that 9 new models come out after the Glock 48 in the coming years. In the current build of the game it incorrectly holds 16+1 rounds instead of 17+1; this is likely a simple oversight (setting it to hold "17 rounds"), not unlike the CZ-75 from Battlefield 4 (before it was corrected).
X-2 CO2 Dart Pistol
Support Specialist Maria Falck uses an X-2 CO2 dart pistol as S21 Syrette Pistol as her exclusive equipment. In reality this is an animal handling device.
Submachine Guns
KRISS Vector
The 2nd generation KRISS Vector appears as the "K30", seemingly alluding to it being a successor to the KRISS K10 prototype that previously appeared in Battlefield Hardline. Despite functioning like a full-auto Vector SMG, it is modeled after the civilian SBR version, as it lacks a select-fire lever.
LWRC SMG-45
The LWRC SMG-45 appears under the name "PBX-9". Markings on the side say "9MM|45 ACP" suggesting that the game's weapon customization system will allow you to change calibers. It's stock appears to use the bronze finish of the early models.
Shotguns
Remington 870 MCS
A Remington 870 MCS is seen in the trailer, fitted with an M4 stock adaptor and what appears to be Magpul's Remington 870 forend. The sight system seems reminiscent of a Mossberg 590A1, in the way that the rear sight is a larger ghost ring sight mounted on the receiver, as opposed to the 870 MCS's smaller notch sight mounted halfway down the barrel.
Rifles
AK-12
The production version of the AK-12 appears as the "AK24". It was first seen in the reveal trailer, fitted with a tan handguard, stock, and polymer magazine, as well as various attachments, including an OKP-7 sight.
Daniel Defense DDM4 V7 Pro
A Daniel Defense DDM4 V7 Pro with a Strike Switch safety lever appears as the "4V9". The distinctive stock is clearly visible in promotional material showing some cosmetic bundles, which features an Arctic camo on the DDM4.
FN SCAR-H CQC
An FN SCAR-H CQC is seen in the reveal trailer.
SIG-Sauer MCX Spear
The SIG-Sauer MCX Spear appears in the game as the "M5A3". It is also present on the cover art of the game, equipped with a Sig Sauer Romeo 8 and a suppressor.
Sniper Rifles
Chukavin SVCh
What appears to be a Chukavin SVCh appears in promotional artwork for the Specialists, mounted on its bipod on a crate in the background. It also briefly appeared in the gameplay trailer. It appears to be a .308 variant, and the in game model has a 10 round mag, whereas the HUD emblem has a 20 rounder.
DSR-Precision DSR-1
What appears to be a DSR-1 is seen. It can be made out specifically as a DSR-1 and not it's upscaled version, the DSR-50 by it's thinner profile. When we see it in the trailer, it has no rear magazine in it most times, and the bolt handle is in the entirely wrong place, so it seems that the guys at EA are under the impression that the rear magwell is for storage, and the front one is what it actually loads from.
Sako TRG M10
The Sako TRG M10 appears as the "TG-24".
Machine Guns
Knight's Armament LWAMG
The Knight's Armament LWAMG appears as the "LCMG".
PKP Pecheneg Bullpup
A PKP Pecheneg Bullpup is briefly seen in the trailer.
Launchers
Carl Gustaf M4
The Carl Gustaf M4 appears in the reveal trailer, used by a pilot executing the infamous "Rendezook" move, where the pilot jumps out of their fighter jet, shoots a rocket mid-air while falling, and jumps back in their jet.
FN EGLM
An FN EGLM can be seen slung under the SCAR-H in the gameplay trailer.
Mounted & Emplaced Weapons
Browning M2 QCB
The Browning M2 QCB appears on a futuristic "M1A5" Abrams tank and the Ripsaw tank in the reveal trailer. It also appears as part of the "SG-36 Sentry System" that Specialist Pyotr "Boris" Guskovsky has access to, fitted with a large muzzle brake.
Dillon Aero M134 Minigun
Dual M134 Miniguns appears mounted on the "MD540 Nightbird" helicopter in the reveal trailer and Griffon-type hovercraft in promotional images. Three are also mounted on the nose of the "MV38-Condor" transport; the pilot's HUD and passenger list strongly imply that each of its three Miniguns is operated independently by three different passengers in the vehicle.
General Dynamics GAU-22/A
The F-35B in the gameplay trailer appears with its underslung General Dynamics GAU-22/A gun pod.
Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-1
The Sukhoi Su-57 appears in the reveal trailer and promotional artwork, which is armed with the Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-1 autocannon.
M230 Chain Gun
The M230 Chain Gun is mounted on the "AH-64GX", a futuristic variant of the Apache attack helicopter.
Shipunov 2A42
Kamov Ka-52 helicopters seen in reveal media have Shipunov 2A42 autocannons.
