The Lost World: Jurassic Park
The following weapons were used in the film The Lost World: Jurassic Park:
WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Rifles
LAR Grizzly Big Boar (Modified)
Roland Tembo (Pete Postlethwaite) is seen in the film using a single-shot LAR Grizzly Big Boar, made out to be tranquilizer gun. Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore) is later seen using the same weapon to shoot the T. rex while in San Diego. Some of the hunters are also seen using LAR Grizzlies, mocked up as the original "Lindstradt" from Michael Crichton's novel The Lost World, outfitted with twin CO2-tanks.
Searcy Double Barrel Rifle
Roland Tembo (Pete Postlethwaite) keeps a .600 Nitro Express double barreled rifle, a large caliber rifle popularized in the early 1900's by ivory hunters (Holland & Holland being one of the more well-known makers of such weapons). These rifles are often referred to simply as a "double," referencing the two barrels per single rifle. Double rifles are the favored rifle for African professional hunters as the two barrels allow for a quick follow-up shot on animals without having to reload.
The weapon seen in this film was manufactured by B. Searcy & Co. of Boron, CA. Two rifles were made for the production of this movie. Steven Spielberg is said to own one of them himself. The location of the other is unknown. Both rifles made for the movie are real and fully functional. As with all double rifles, the intense amount of time and labor to make them dictates a price tag of several tens-of-thousands of dollars. A plastic model was made as well for stand-ins when the real rifle, which is heavy, was not necessary.
Heckler & Koch HK91A2
Dieter Stark (Peter Stormare) carries a Heckler & Koch HK91A2 with a Surefire 660 entry light and telescopic sight attached but is never actually used. Some of the other hunters are also seen using HK91A2 rifles, appearing to be the team's primary weapon. A San Diego Police sniper also uses an HK91A2.
Winchester Model 70
Ajay Sidhu (Harvey Jason) carries a Winchester Model 70 rifle as his weapon of choice through out the film, but never fires it.
Sako M995 TRG-S
Carter (Thomas Rosales Jr.) and some of the hunters carry Sako M995 TRG-S rifles.
AKMS
One of the hunters is seen firing an AKMS variant while being chased by the T. rex. It appears to have the early East German "Crutch" folding stock.
Valmet Model 412
A hunter is seen carrying what appears to be a Valmet Model 412.
M16A2
One of the hunters in the T. rex chase is seen carrying an M16A2.
Unknown Rifles
Some of the hunters during the trek are seen carrying unknown rifles.
Other
Lindstradt Air Rifle
Eddie Carr (Richard Schiff) is seen using a bolt-action air rifle with the name "Lindstradt" clearly shown on the side. It features a thread-on barrel and is fitted with a Bushnell HOLOsight 400 for the sighting system. Even though the layout is similar to the Dan Inject Model IM, it's based mostly on the Anschutz 1913 Super Match target rifle. It is the weapon of choice for Eddie but he never fires it. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) is also seen holding this gun in some scenes. In the movie, Eddie states it fires "Fluger impact-delivery darts" which, also according to Eddie, are "filled with the venom of the Conus purpurascens (South Sea Cone Shell) - the most powerful neurotoxin in the world."
Dan Inject Model JM
Some of the hunters are seen using these Danish-made, CO2 powered Dan Inject Model JM rifles.
Dan Inject Model IM
A genuine Dan Inject Model IM, which is the high end of the series, can be briefly seen carried by one of the hunters.
CODA Net Gun
One of the hunters is seen carrying a CODA net gun when a Parasaurolophus is being captured.
Shotguns
Franchi SPAS-12
Some of the hunters are armed with Franchi SPAS-12s fitted with a tactical flashlight. The SPAS-12 is also seen in the hands of an InGen worker who is examining the male T. rex's cage as the animal is being prepared for transport.
Handguns
M1911A1
InGen guards stationed at Jurassic Park: San Diego are armed with M1911A1 pistols.
Unknown Revolver
When the hunters flee into the long grass, one of them is seen brandishing a revolver. All shots of the revolver are too obscured to make a positive ID.
