Ruger P85
The Ruger P85 is a full-sized DA/SA alloy-framed service pistol originally designed to compete in the US Military Joint Small Arms Program. Unfortunately the design wasn't finalized until after the trials. Luckily, the P85 found popularity on the civilian and law enforcement markets but many were recalled after an incident with the firing pin, resulting in a discharge. The P85 was then replaced with the updated P89 and the P85 was discontinued several years later.

Ruger P95
Introduced in 1996, the Ruger P95 is essentially a 9mm Ruger P94 with a high strength fiberglass-reinforced polyurethane frame, which reduced the weight of the pistol by four ounces. This was done to compete with other polymer weapons and also for ease of production. The Ruger P95 was popular but eventually was phased out by the Ruger SR series and discontinued in 2013.
