Revision as of 17:39, 13 July 2012
ArmA II is a military-simulation video game developed and published by Bohemia Interactive Studio (BIS) exclusively for the PC. It is the third installment of the ArmA series, officially announced on August 22, 2007, and was built on the Real Virtuality 3 engine owned by BIS. The game was released between June 17-July 20, 2009 in various countries, and on June 26 in the same year for Steam.
On June 26, 2010, a stand-alone expansion pack called Operation Arrowhead (OA) was released, featuring a new campaign, new maps, new units, new vehicles, and new weapons, as well as new gameplay elements.
On August 29, 2010, a downloadable content pack called British Armed Forces (BAF) was released, featuring content of the British Army. Later on, a second downloadable content pack called Private Military Company (PMC) was released, featuring content of a fictional private military company faction. Both DLC's were bundled onto a pack called Reinforcements (RFT), and was released on April 1, 2011.
On June 4, 2012, a third downloadable content pack called Army of the Czech Republic (ACR) was announced, and will feature content of the Czech Republic military forces. The new pack will be released in Q3 2012.
The following weapons are featured in ArmA II, Operation Arrowhead, Reinforcements, and the upcoming Army of the Czech Republic:
ArmA 2
Weapons featured in the original game.
Handguns
Beretta M9
The Beretta M9 returns from ArmA: Armed Assault, and it is the standard sidearm of the USMC & US Army factions, typically carried by squad leaders and officers. A suppressed version of the M9 is available (fitted with AAC EVOLUTION 9mm suppressor), and used mainly by members of the Force Recon unit 'Razor' team.
Colt M1911A1
The Colt M1911A1 is incorrectly the standard sidearm of USMC Force Recon units and snipers, as the M-45 is the accurate sidearm. The M1911A1 is also incorrectly depicted as the main sidearm of British soldiers in the Reinforcements expansion, substituting for the L9A1 pistol.
Makarov PM/6P9 PB
Both the Makarov PM and its 6P9 PB suppressed version, returns from ArmA: Armed Assault. While the Makarov PM is the standard sidearm for most of the eastern factions involved in the game, including the Russian Army, Chernarussian Defence Forces, ChDKZ rebels, NAPA insurgents and the Takistani Army. The 6P9 PB is used mainly by Russian Spetsnaz operatives.
Submachine guns
Heckler & Koch MP5A5
The MP5A5 returns from ArmA: Armed Assault, and used by USMC pilots.
Heckler & Koch MP5SD6
The MP5SD6, distinguished by the presence of single, burst and auto firing modes and a Navy trigger group, is one of the few SMGs available in-game, though it is not act as a standard equipment among any of the factions.
PP-19 Bizon-2-03
The PP-19 Bizon-2-03 is one of the few SMGs available in-game, and features the early PP-19 folding stock. It is available with and without a suppressor and is used by Russian Spetsnaz anti-tank operators and sappers.
Shotguns
Benelli M1014 Joint Services Combat Shotgun
The Benelli M1014 JSCS, appearing simply as the "M1014", is the standard combat shotgun of the USMC faction. It fires both slug and pellet ammunition (as of v1.53), both of which have a very limited range compared to other rifles.
Izhmash Saiga-12K
The Izhmash Saiga-12K, appearing as the "Saiga 12K", is the standard combat shotgun of the Russian Federation faction, featuring an 8-round magazine, and same as the Benelli M1014 JSCS, the Saiga-12K fires both slug and pellet ammunition.
Assault Rifles and Carbines
AK-74
The AK-74 returns from ArmA: Armed Assault, and it is the standard issue rifle of the CDF, and available with a GP-25 grenade launcher. The AK-74 is used also by ChKDZ rebels, NAPA insurgents, and by Takistani militia in the Operation Arrowhead expansion.
AKS-74
The AKS-74 is used by squad leaders of the CDF, ChKDZ and NAPA factions. It is available either with a Kobra red dot sight or a PSO-1 scope. The Operation Arrowhead expansion introduces two new variants, one with a Soviet NSPU night vision optic and another with the GOSHAWK thermal weapon sight.
AKS-74U
The AKS-74U is used by tank crew and pilots of the CDF, ChKDZ, NAPA, Russian factions & Takistani Army. A suppressed version is also available, and used mainly by Spetsnaz operatives (AKS-74UN variant).

AKM
The AKM is used by ChKDZ insurgents and NAPA guerrillas. In the Operation Arrowhead' expansion, the AKM is used by Takistani militiamen.
AKMS
The AKMS is also commonly seen used by CDF soldiers, ChKDZ insurgents and NAPA guerrillas. A special gold version of the rifle (similar to the special AK-47 in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare) is also programmed to occasionally appear in the hands of insurgents as an Easter egg. The AKMS is also seen used by the Takistani militia in the Operation Arrowhead expansion.
Colt M4A1 Carbine
The M4A1 returns from ArmA: Armed Assault, and by far has the most variants of any available weapon in-game (with a total of ten variants). In ArmA II, M4A1s are used by vehicle crews, Force Recon operators (including "Razor" team), scouts, engineers, corpsmen (incorrectly referred to as "medics"), and officers of the USMC faction. This variants are available with carry handles/iron sights, Aimpoint M68 CCOs, Trijicon TA01NSN 4x32 ACOG scopes, EOTech 551 Holographic sights, unknown model of SureFire WeaponLights, AN/PEQ-2 TPIAL IR designators, Knight's Armament QDSS-NT4 suppressors, Knight's Armament vertical foregrips, and Knight's Armament M203A1 grenade launchers with leaf sights, as well either in black or woodland color schemes.
Two new variants were introduced with the Operation Arrowhead stand-alone expansion and used by Czech special forces operators, appearing as the "M4A3"s with desert camouflage scheme but featuring different accessories: the first is fitted with M68 CCO and a KAC vertical foregrip, whilst the other is fitted with TA01NSN ACOG scope, AN/PEQ-2 TPIAL IR designator, and a KAC M203A1 grenade launcher with leaf sight. Also, some units of the Private Military Company DLC are also using M4A1s.
A modeling mistake showing every M4A1 has an M16A1 pistol grip.
Colt M16A2
The M16A2 is one of the available and playable weapons in the game, though it is not normally used by any of the factions. A version with the M203 grenade launcher is also available, and is used by Takistani soldiers and militants in the Operation Arrowhead expansion.
Colt M16A4
The M16A4 is the standard issue weapon of the USMC faction in-game, and there are four variants available. Same as the M4A1s in-game, all of the M16A4s are erroneously modeled with an A1 pistol grip.
Heckler & Koch G36/G36K/G36C
The Heckler & Koch G36 rifle is not used by any of the game's factions (with the exception of the G36C that is used by a CDhKZ faction leader), but is available in the mission editor for single or multiplayer scenarios. Three versions are available: the G36A with ZF 3x4° dual optical sights, the G36K and the two versions of the G36C, including one with a suppressor and an EOTech sight. In the Operation Arrowhead expansion, German KSK soldiers utilize camouflaged versions of the G36A, G36K and G36C as their standard weapons.

Remington M40A3
The M40A3, camouflaged with Ghille material, is the standard weapon for USMC snipers. Besides the aesthetic differences, the weapon is otherwise identical in performance to the M24.
SVD Dragunov
The SVD Dragunov is available either in standard or camouflaged configurations and is used by all of the Chernarussian factions along with the Russian military. In Operation Arrowhead, a variant of the SVD with NSPU night vision optics is used by Takistani night ops soldiers.
VSS Vintorez
The suppressed VSS Vintorez sniper rifle is used by Russian Spetznaz and MVD units.
Machine Guns
FN M240G
The M240G is used by the United States Marine Corps both as an infantry weapon and mounted on up-armored HMMWVs and SH-60 Seahawk helicopters. In Operation Arrowhead, ELCAN M145-equipped M240s are used by U.S. Army units, but would be accurate to see M240Bs instead. It is also mounted on the ramps of the Army's CH-47F Chinook helicopters.
FN M249 SAW
U.S Marines use the M249 SAW as their standard infantry support weapon.
FN Mk 48 Mod 0

Grenade Launchers
Heckler & Koch XM320
The Heckler & Koch XM320 grenade launcher is mounted on the XM8 rifle.
KBP Instrument Design Bureau AGS-30
The AGS-30 automatic grenade launcher is available either as a static weapon or mounted atop of UAZ jeeps.

M136 AT4
The M136 AT4 is used by both USMC and U.S. Army factions. Although multiple launchers can be carried, only one appears on the character's back, giving the false impression that the weapon can be reloaded.
RPG-7
The RPG-7 is used by all of the game's factions with the exception of the USMC, U.S. Army, BAF and PMC, and can use different warheads including the OG-7V anti-infantry rocket or the PG-7VR tandem high-explosive anti-tank rocket.
RPG-18
The RPG-18 is a single-shot disposable launcher used by the Russian forces, and in the game functions similarly to the USMC's M136 AT4.
Mk. 153 Mod 0 SMAW
The Mk. 153 Mod 0 SMAW rocket launcher is used by USMC forces. The weapon can fire either High-Explosive Dual Purpose (HEDP) or High-Explosive Anti-Armour (HEAA) rounds.
AT-13 Saxhorn-2
The AT-13 Saxhorn-2 (Russian: 9K115-2 Metis-M) is available to the Russian Federation as a static ATGM launcher and man-portable system. With the static version, like the BGM-71 TOW, the missile requires the operator to guide it to the target. The man-portable version however acts more like the FGM-148 Javelin, in that it is a lock-on fire-and-forget missile system.
BGM-71 TOW
BGM-71 TOW launchers are available to USMC forces either as static launchers or mounted on top of Humvees. Like the static AT-13 Saxhorn, the missiles are guided by the player.

SA-18 Grouse
The SA-18 Grouse (Russian: 9K38 Igla) MANPADS was designed as the replacement to the SA-7 Grail, with improved resistance to counter-measures and a more accurate seeker. In the game, it is used exclusively by Russian forces.
Vehicle-mounted and Static Weapons
Browning M2HB
Browning M2 machine guns are mounted on fixed tripods and on many USMC and U.S Army vehicles, including the Humvee and the M1A2 Abrams. British forces in the British Armed Forces DLC use the L111A1, a version of the Browning M2 with an ACOG sight.

General Dynamics GAU-17/A
The GAU-17/A is mounted on UH-1Y Venom helicopter used by the USMC faction, the UH-60M Black Hawk and CH-47F Chinook helicopters used by the U.S. Army faction, as well as mounted on a unique modified version of a SUV introduced with the Private Military Company DLC. It is also incorrectly mounted on the AH-6J Little Bird instead of the M134 Minign. For some reason, the GAU-17/A mounted on the right side of an helicopter, is modeled reversed from the GAU-17/A mounted on the left side, easily noted by the position of the rail. Also, the rail itself is not detailed correctly, as it lacks the T-shaped spaces.
General Dynamics GAU-22/A
The GAU-22/A is mounted on USMC's F-35B Lightning II.
General Dynamics M197 Vulcan
The General Dynamics M197 Vulcan is mounted on USMC's AH-1Z Viper.

M18 Smoke Grenade
The M18 smoke grenade is used by both BluFor and OpFor (inaccurately) factions, and available in white, red, green, yellow, orange, purple and blue colors.
M67 Fragmentation Grenade
The M67 hand grenade is used by BluFor factions, incorrectly by the British Army too, as the L109A1 would be more accurate.
RGD-5 Frag Grenade
The RGD-5 frag grenade returns from ArmA: Armed Assault, incorrectly again as the "RGO Frag Grenade", and is used by OpFor factions.
Fire Support
SPG-9 Recoilless Rifle
The SPG-9 recoilless rifle is used by ChKDZ and NAPA factions as a static weapon, or mounted on UAZ jeeps.

ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead
Handguns
Glock 17
The Glock 17 is a weapon introduced in the Operation Arrowhead expansion, and is the standard sidearm of the Czech Army and also, erroneously though, German Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK) units; the real life German KSK units use the HK P8 as their standard sidearm. The in-game model features OD Green frame and a Glock tactical light.
Taurus Tracker Model 455
The Taurus Tracker Model 455 is a weapon introduced in the Operation Arrowhead expansion, and simply referred to as the "Revolver" in-game. The Model 455 is used by Takistani military officers, and is also available in a gold-plated version.
Submachine Guns
IMI Micro Uzi
The Micro Uzi was introduced in the Operation Arrowhead expansion, and simply referred to as the "PDW" (Personal Defense Weapon). A suppressed version is also available. Even though been a SMG, it is labeled as a handgun.
SA Vz 61 Skorpion
The SA Vz.61 Skorpion was introduced in the Operation Arrowhead expansion, and referred to as the "Sa-61 Scorpion". Even though been a SMG, it is labeled as a handgun.
Assault Rifles and Carbines
FN SCAR-L (Mk 16 Mod 0)
The FN SCAR-L, appearing as the "Mk16", was introduced in the Operation Arrowhead stand-alone expansion pack and depicts as the standard issue rifle of the US Army faction, assuming that the US Army decided to replace the M4 carbines and M16A4 rifles with SCAR-Ls. There are total eight variants of the SCAR-L available in the game.
SA Vz.58
The SA Vz.58 was introduced in the Operation Arrowhead expansion, included in two variations: The Vz.58P, and the Vz.58V used by the Czech Army soldiers. There are two variations of the Vz.58V available, one with iron sights and the second with Trijicon TA01NSN ACOG, though both have an RIS foregrip and painted in desert camouflage.
Battle Rifles
FN-FAL
The paratrooper 18" version of the FN FAL is the standard issue weapon of the Takistani Army soldiers in Operation Arrowhead expansion. It is also used by the Takistani Republican Militia, the Takistani locals and some ION mercenaries. Two variants of the FN FAL are available: regular and one with the AN/PVS-4 night-vision scope.
FN SCAR-H (Mk 17 Mod 0)
The FN SCAR-H was introduced with the Operation Arrowhead stand-alone expansion, and is used by most of SFOD-D operators. There are six variants available.
Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk. I
The Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I was introduced with the Operation Arrowhead stand-alone expansion, and is used by Takistani militiamen.
M14
The M14 was introduced with the Operation Arrowhead stand-alone expansion, and available only with an Aimpoint M68 CCO. The M14 is one of the standard weapons used by SFOD-D Sergeant Terry Graves during Operation Arrowhead's campaign.
Sniper Rifles
Knight's Armament Company M110 SASS
U.S Army Special Forces soldiers can use the KAC M110 SASS in the Operation Arrowhead expansion. It is only available in Night Vision and Thermal scope variants, and features a Magpul PRS stock. It lacks the ambidextrous bolt release catch of the M110, meaning it is based on an XM110, an SR-25 or an inaccurate airsoft replica.
Machine Guns
FN M249 SAW Paratrooper
The M249 SAW Paratrooper, appearing simply as the "M249", was introduced in the Operation Arrowhead stand-alone expansion and depicts as the standard automatic rifle of the US Army faction. There are total of three variants available in the game, either with iron sights, an ELCAN M145 Machine Gun Optic or an AN/PAS-13C(V)1 thermal scope, with the latter two fitted with Tango Down vertical foregrips, but all are fitted with AN/PEQ-15 ATPIAL IR designators.
M60E4
The M60E4 Machine Gun appears in Operation Arrowhead and used by Czech special forces operatives.
Grenade Launchers
FN EGLM (Mk 13 Mod 0)
The FN EGLM is a weapon introduced with the Operation Arrowhead expansion, and mounted on FN SCAR-L rifles, used by the United States Army faction. It is also available in a standalone version.
M79 Grenade Launcher
The M79 grenade launcher was introduced with the Operation Arrowhead stand-alone expansion. Though not issued to any faction, the M79 is available through the game's mission editor.
Milkor MGL Mk 1L
The Milkor MGL Mk 1L, appearing as the "M32", was introduced with the Operation Arrowhead stand-alone expansion and used by the US Army faction. This is in inaccurate, since the US Army doesn't operate Milkor MGLs in real life. A stock-less MGL Mk 1L with black finish is, hilariously, mounted on Kamov Ka-60 helicopters introduced with the Private Military Company DLC.
Anti-Tank Launchers
M47 Dragon
The M47 Dragon is a new addition to Operation Arrowhead, and is used by Takistani militants friendly to American forces.
Carl Gustav M3 MAAWS

ArmA 2: British Armed Forces
Assault Rifles and Carbines
Enfield L85A2
The L85A2 was introduced with the British Armed Forces DLC, and is the standard issue weapon of British soldiers. The in-game model features the new RIS handgaurd currently used by the British Army in Afghanistan, and is available with ACOG 4x32 scope (albeit with the standard ACOG rail mount rather than the correct TA61 mount unique to the SA80 series), SUSAT scope, EOTech Holographic sights, as well as the L17A2 grenade launcher.
Sniper Rifles
Accuracy International AS50
The Accuracy International AS50 is used by British anti-material snipers in the British Armed Forces DLC. In reality, the AS50 is not in British service, although the Barrett M82A1 (as the L82A1) and the AW 50 (as the L121A1) are used by the British Royal Marine Commandos and the Special Air Service, respectively.
L115A3 LRR
British snipers in the British Armed Forces DLC use the Accuracy International L115A3 LRR as their standard sniper rifle.
Machine Guns
FN L7A2
The L7A2 machine gun was introduced in the British Armed Forces DLC, both as an individual weapon and mounted aboard Land Rovers and Supacat Jackal patrol vehicles. The in-game model inaccurately uses the same model of the M240G used by both the USMC and US Army factions.
FN L110A1
The L110A1 was introduced with the British Armed Forces DLC and is fitted with an Aimpoint CompM4 red dot sight and AN/PEQ-15 ATPIAL designator. It features a number of inaccuracies for the L110A1 variant including a railed handguard, M249 heatshield, MIL-STD-1913 sight rail and regular Minimi/M249 rear sight. The real life L110A1 does not have a heatshield, uses an FN Minimi handguard and mounts a unique rear sight on a 19mm dovetail rail.
L86A2
Added in the British Armed Forces DLC, the L86A2 LSW is available with an ACOG gunsight (as with the L85, mounted on the standard ACOG rail mount rather than the SA80 series' TA61 mount). As in the real world, it is used as a designated marksman rifle rather than a light support weapon - BAF marksmen can start with this weapon rather than the L115A3 LRR if they choose.
Grenade Launchers
Heckler & Koch GMG
The Heckler & Koch GMG is available to British troops in the British Armed Forces DLC.
Anti-Tank Launchers
Saab-Bofors MBT LAW
The Saab-Bofors MBT LAW appears as the NLAW in the British Armed Forces DLC. The NLAW is a portable next-generation fire and forget missile launcher that has been adopted by the British military as the replacement for the LAW-80.
ArmA 2: Private Millitary Company
Shotguns
AA-12 CQB
The AA-12 CQB was introduced with the Private Military Company DLC, firing several types of ammunition including the high-explosive FRAG-12 round.
Assault Rifles and Carbines
Heckler & Koch XM8
The Heckler & Koch XM8 is one of the available assault rifles in-game, and was originally intended to be used in ArmA: Combat Operations, but later was cut-out of developing and ported to ArmA II. The whole XM8 family is included in the game, and ION Mercenaries of the Private Military Company DLC are using the XM8 as their standard issue weapon.
ArmA 2: Army of the Czech Republic

Grenade Launchers
CZ 805 G1
The CZ 805 G1 will be introduced with the Army of the Czech Republic DLC, and seen fitted on CZ 805 BREN A1 rifles in screenshots. It is unknown if it will be available as a stand-alone weapon like the FN EGLM above.
