Brothers in Arms 3 Sons of War

Release Date: 2014
Developer: Gameloft
Publisher: Ubisoft
Series: Brothers in Arms
Platforms: IOS
Android
Genre: Third-person shooter

Brothers in Arms 3: Sons of War is a portable spin-off in the Brothers in Arms series and the fourth game in the series developed by Gameloft

The game is a third person cover shooter with the player having one AI "Brother" per level that they can choose from a selection, with each squadmate having a unique ability and using a different firearm.

The game also features an upgrade system, so many weapons have inaccurate stats. (Such as starting with below a regular magazine initially then increasing over the realistic capacity when maxed out.)

Also infamously, the game added "Experimental" weapons, frankengun fictional weapons firing electified bullets that can pass through walls, (Something not even the in-game Anti-Tank Rifles can manage.) outside of the lack of realism, these weapons required a massive grind or paying for a special currency to unlock and dominated the game's multiplayer mode.

The following weapons appear in the video game Samz/Sandbox:

Pistols

Colt M1911A1

The game's protagonist, Sergeant Cole Wright, carries a 1911 in a leg holster during the game, it is unusable by the player.

Luger P08

The Luger P08 appears on a table that is flipped over in one cutscene, like the Colt, it is not usable.

Luger P08 - 9x19mm
The Luger P08 mid-air.

Unknown Modern Pistol

An unknown modern pistol, presumably re-used from Gameloft's Modern Combat series, appears during two cutscenes in the game, once in the hands of Sam Foster briefly and used by Cole Wright in the final cutscene, it is the only pistol technically usable by the player, if only in a cutscene.

It's inclusion is odd considering how there are two era appropriate pistols already included.

Shotguns

M30 Luftwaffe Drilling

The M30 Luftwaffe Drilling appears as the cheapest shotgun, it holds only 2 shotgun shells initially and when upgraded holds 3 shells. (Presumably the rifle barrel is treated as if it holds shotgun shells.)

NAM (also known as Napalm on some versions) is a Vietnam war set FPS developed by TNT Team on the Build engine.

After initially making a Platoon themed total conversion mod for Duke Nukem 3D, TNT Team licensed the engine and developed NAM as a standalone game.

They would later create WWII G.I with it's Platoon Leader expansion pack reusing weapon sprites and other assets from NAM.

The player plays as Sgt. Alan "The Bear" Westmoreland, a Marine who's been given an experimental combat serum in his tours of duty in Vietnam.

Rifles

M16 (SP1) with M16A2 hand guards

The M16 (SP1) with M16A2 handguards appears as the player's default weapon and is the only weapon that needs to be reloaded after 20 shots.

"Grunt" AI Marines can use the M16 if given a "special command" while not following the player, oddly in Single player/Deathmatch, they shoot at any player including the one who was ordering them and only in Capture the Flag do they not shoot at the player and their team who gave the order. (This makes them functionally useless in single player as they will only target the player and not any enemies.)

Other AI Marines/stationary sprite Marines also carry the M16 but none of them actually use their rifles and the sprite is reused for Vietcong machine gunners (The manual claims they are using the RPD but the sprite is clearly the M16) and suicide bombers who don't actually fire it.

XM21 Sniper Weapon System

A scoped rifle that the game claims is an M14 Rifle appears as one of the available weapons with a max ammo count of 20 shots. It also appears to be used by Vietcong snipers as they use a similar looking rifle with the same sound.

Explosives

M18A1 Claymore

The M18A1 Claymore appears as the game's mine.

M18A1 Claymore Anti-Personnel Mine.
The Claymore in-game, Claymores have a black line which is presumably a "wire" like the vietcong traps encountered but in reality probably a re-skinned laser due to reusing Duke Nukem 3D Tripmine code.
Surprisingly, the Claymore's directional blast is somewhat emulated by having the Claymore explode multiple times in a line towards the tripwire.

M72 LAW

The M72 LAW appears as the game's rocket launcher and can be used by "Grunt" AI marines.

M72A2 LAW - 66mm. The "Empty" marking makes it clear this is a spent tube.
Aiming the LAW at an enemy tank.

M79 grenade launcher

The M79 grenade launcher appears as one of two weapons in the player's 7th weapon slot alongside the M14. Oddly, due to reusing Shrinker code from Duke Nukem 3D, the M79 "charges" and shakes for a second before actually launching a grenade. (which wrongly uses the same sprite as the hand grenades but detonates on impact.)
