Extra work on the SG-1 page
+
Infoboxes
Hey, I really like all the work you've done to make the SG-1 page into a comprehensive list of all the weapons that have appeared on the show. However, I must ask...would you be OK if I did some extra work on it just to make it a little less taxing on the eyes? When you have lots and lots of screenshots, it's usually a good idea to make them into thumbnails on the page so that they don't wind up being an eyesore.
+
Hey. So first off, a disclaimer, I am posting the following message for each of the Admins so don't think I'm spamming. Just want to get input from all of you. I have been working on a number of infoboxes for different pages (Template:Infobox Movie, Template:Infobox TV, Template:Infobox Video Game). I have already gotten some help from Bunni who installed an additional add-on to facilitate the templates. I would love to get some feedback from you (and other admins) regarding these. Do you like the format? Are there things you would like changed? Should additional information be added? The nice thing is that with the add-on that Bunni installed, you do not have to provide all the information for the infobox. Any variables left blank will simply not be printed.

Additionally, I'd also recommend you add episode info to each screenshot (if you've got it), as well as pictures of the guns from our archive so that anyone browsing this site will have something to compare it to. See what I've done on the section for the very first gun on the page (the Beretta M9) as an ex of what I mean.
+
Finally, I would like to see how you feel about my adding these to pages. I have gotten positive feedback from a number of users (including at least 3 admins) but before I add this to more than a dozen or so pages (which I have done for testing purposes) I want to really get full permission. I know that sweeping changes are a MAJOR no-no without full admin approval. Check out the thread in the forum (http://forum.imfdb.org/showthread.php?t=1942). I look forward to hearing your feedback! :-) --Zackmann08 11:15, 9 May 2012 (CDT)

-If you want to make the page better, go right ahead. I had no problems with the size of some of the pics cause I think it draws attention, but if you think it is better a little smaller, go right ahead. I'm still new to the wiki editting, so I don't know how to do everything.

Hello, good sir, I hope you don't mind me posting this here, if so please take every right to delete it. But, I have come to plead for your help and expertise. I have added some new discussion to Leon's handgun(s) in Resident Evil 6, and I am asking for your opinion, and if you agree with the evidence I have provided, that you could back me up. If you think I'm an idiot I will admit defeat haha I'm only asking for your expertise. Thanks, again.  --TheREwiz

GREAT WORK! on the SG1 screen shots.  I just wish more people knew how to do great screen shots and put them in the pages.  It really makes the page great! BTW: I will be doing more custom gun photographs soon and I will be photographing my own USAS-12 with both stick and drum magazines in place.  I try to grab as many real movie guns from my own inventory (plus guns from the inventory of professional colleagues as I can), but they're in the biz of making movies and get annoyed with me sometimes, since I always want to take softbox photos of their guns against a white background.  I will GET shots of the actual guns from T-2 perhaps in a month when I get a chance.  Great WORK on the SG1 pics!

Uploading image
Your pages for the Stargate movies and TV show are really awesome! Thanks for all the hard work you've put in! I wish I could do the same, except my POS laptop has been really acting up lately and I literally can't play any of my DVDs on it right now.
+
i need some help the gun i want to upload doesn't appear in the image's place how do i fix that User:Balin21

Anyway, I just thought I'd help out with some extra details, in case you find them relevant:
+
The Walking Dead video game
*(1.) Most of the M16A2s on SG1, especially in the early seasons, are actually M16A1s that have been fitted with A2-style handguards. You can tell because they have A1-style receivers which lack the brass deflector and the elevation-adjustable rear sight (look closely at the rifle in the top picture, for instance). A few of them (usually in non-firing scenes) are actually civilian AR15 SP1s which lack even the forward assist and the magazine fencing.
+
Have you heard about a walking dead video game by telltale games i think it might have alot of gun in it? User:Balin21

*(2.) I believe the AKs used by the Russian SG team are actually Norinco Type 84s, which is a Chinese AK variant that fires 5.56x45mm. In the show, they seem to be fitted with AK74-style folding stocks and muzzle breaks, but the design of the magazine (steel and ribbed, not plastic like the real AK74) gives them away.
+
Daryl's New Crossbow
*(3.) The AKs used by the Hondurans are a Yugoslav copy called the Zastava M70B.
+
If we identify what type of crossbow it is can we put it on the walking dead season 3 page?--Balin21 (talk) 15:04, 5 March 2013 (EST)

*(4.) Many of the M203s on SG1 are look-a-like 37mm Colt flare launchers, which is very common in many movies and TV shows when they don't want to spend the money - or go through the legal difficulties - of getting real M203s (which are NFA-regulated items).
+
Anime
*(5.) As far as the "Carter Special" (the little AR with the thumbhole stock) goes, the picture you posted to illustrate it is an airsoft replica. The guy who built it (for that "Stargate6.com" site that doesn't work anymore) once posted about it on Airsoft Retreat, years ago now. Somebody else actually built a real one, except that it was semi-auto only and had been registered as an SBR in that person's state. I wish so much that I remember where the hell I saw/heard about it! -MT2008
+
You will have to talk to Bunni about that. Best way to reach him is to shoot him an email. It says one of your contributions is Flashpoint. Respectively, I'd like to mention I've listed almost every gun on their and every picture, screenshots and all to the page. No offense of course, but I have to brag to someone :). I cleaned up you profile page, hope you don't mind.

::Alright, you did a lot of listing and then some pictures, but I also did some additions as well as add my own pictures. I mean, the series is pretty new, at the 4th episode and I named about 3 weapons and uploaded a handful of pictures. I think that much work than minor additions deserves to be "contributions" than on just "minor" additions. I mean if the series was complete and there is always a pretty complete page with photos and I jumped in and added my own, then yeah, that's a minor addition. But since I am doing my best with this new series since it's hard to find screenshots, I think I deserve a mention.

I PMed you on the forum. --Funkychinaman (talk) 22:52, 14 July 2014 (EDT)
We all love your pages, you make them well, but can you please put them in proper format? Copy it from another page if you must, because it's hard work changing it for you. I just finished doing it with the Gone in 60 seconds page, and then you bring up another. And don't forget to add stock pictures of the gun itself. That's why they have gun pictures for use on the site. I'm not trying to argue or anything but putting the pages into proper format is difficult with another person's page. By putting something in "thumb" format, you make the picture with a nice looking frame, and yoo can add a caption under it. I put your pic size at 500px because I figured you like the shots big(I do 400px). Also, the poster looks nice when you move it to the right. after each picture type in:

(double brackets)Image:whateverpicis.jpg|thumb|none|500px|Caption to describe picture(double brackets)

And for poster, instead of "none", type "right" to move it to the right.

Keep up the good work. -GM

Thank you so much for uploading screencapps for the page, I was afraid I'd have to see pictureless "Unknown" guns on the page the whole time until the DVDs came out. your shots look great. I would have kept doing it, but my screencapping system died, and I missed so many episodes, they stopped playing some on the CBS site, and I'd missed too many, and figured I'd just wait for the DVDs.

Are the screenshots you put up from just the trailer and are what episodes are these from? You didn't put any episode numbers in your screenshots and captions. The High Standard HDM is a maybe, the ruger II is a definate no. The gun clearly has a flat top and the slide is open top and in full. A Ruger has a concealed slide inside the gun with nothing but the toggle knobs visible. It may be a S&W 46, but it is hard to tell.

That is/was an M60E4/Mk43 Mod 1.  The GPMG is used by the SEALS and by the 5th SFG in "real life" so it would be logical for it to be in the Unit's inventory alongside the H&K 416. The addition of so many rails to the thing almost obliterates the classic outlines of the M60 (that and a major reworking of the feed system). Besides with Dennis Haysbert's size...the thing probably would look like a SAW. - Charon68

He's overestimating his contribution to at least the first two Telltale Walking Dead games. The majority contributor was me on those and I painstakingly screencapped many of the images from YouTube playthroughs (hence the varying quality) while others I got from the TWD Wiki (which I did with their permission, mind you). Not saying others didn't contribute as well, but "almost entirely" is a bit of a stretch. Spartan198 (talk) 00:13, 10 September 2019 (EDT)

I figured that the guy is a liar. I mean people have been kicked from here for being racist. I have a reasonable suspicion that the former user has a name here related to his Avatar on Quoara. The guy is not in fact banned but he was probably warned that his behavior was out of line. Rockwolf66 (talk) 02:10, 10 September 2019 (EDT)

I'm a bit torn on the matter. On the one hand, I agree that it's easy to get carried away with cartoons, which are basically not intended to be serious and rarely focus upon guns (the way action movies do). However, it is true that some cartoonists are actually gun guys and depict guns pretty realistically in their shows. Most seasons of South Park, for instance, feature very detailed images of M16A1s, SPAS-12s, S&W 5904/06, and a bullpup rifle similar to the G36 that were obviously intended to duplicate the real guns. In cases like that, I think it could be argued that the creators actually did show an attempt to depict guns realistically.

Apparently, what ultimately prompted him to write this is the fact that I indirectly mentioned him in the BF5 talk page, even though I was talking more about the situation that happened back then, not because it was specifically him. I mean, I barely had any interaction with him, and it doesn't matter which user it was, I would have made the same comment anyway. --Ultimate94ninja (talk) 02:44, 10 September 2019 (EDT)

: Lol this guy, huh? For the record, the chunk of his rant about his old 'Mary Sue' remark was me, so I apologize to Tim and/or you for getting smeared with that. ;P And I only merely thought it was worth mentioning because if he wants to waste time grandstanding on social and cultural etiquette maybe he could start by practicing what he preaches. I appreciate you providing screencaps for movies such as Pineapple Express. But...I have some reservations. I know your screencaps would have to be from a bootleg AVI or MPEG file, since the movie isn't out on DVD or Blu Ray yet. I am a bit concerned that if studio spies were prowling the net for stuff like this, they might come upon your screencaps and we'd get in trouble.
+
:::I know I'm not around much as I have a life and don't have time to do lots of screencaps or to get the lattest in movies. I will not delete the shots you've already uploaded, but in the future, I'd prefer that you didn't upload screenshots from movies that haven't come out on DVD yet, just in case we get in trouble. Plus, the DVD will always be superior quality, anyway. That is all.

Cheers. -MT2008 05:38, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

:Well, I dunno if you saw, but when The Incredible Hulk came out on DVD, I screencapped it all over again.

:Like I said, when a movie isn't out on DVD yet, the studios will know if they see screenshots on here that they could only have come from a bootleg. So yeah, like I said, please don't post screenshots of movies not out on DVD. I just don't think it's such a good idea. But the Pineapple Express shots you've got can stay.

:Thanks. -MT2008 05:44, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

::Sorry, man. Don't take it personally; it's just that I'm worried it might invite unwanted attention. -MT2008 05:51, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

:::That is a good question. The answer is, basically not. Technically, posting screencaps from DVDs - even those you've bought - falls within particular intellectual property infringements, but in practice, these have largely gone unenforced.

:::Downloading a bootleg copy of a movie, however, is another issue entirely. If you post screenshots from a movie that isn't out on DVD, you might as well be advertising that you were bootlegging. I'd just prefer we didn't do it, but this is perhaps a matter worth discussing with Bunni. -MT2008 06:09, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey, just took a look at the pistol you have listed as an "Unknown Gun" on the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles page. I'm not exactly sure what kind it is, though it does appear to be a Smith & Wesson semi-auto of some sort. It looks the most like a Smith & Wesson 4506, but the squared trigger guard looks like that on the Smith & Wesson 5906. ==RE:E==

Great job with the page (did you figure out how to crop the widescreen shots mid-way?). When I had first seen the movie, I wasn't a capper yet. I'm stumped on the SMG but I'm sure MT or MPM will know or find out (I'll check some of my sources if they don't know). I'll be working on the Dark Knight some more. Let me know if you need anymore help.

And with Taurus to Beretta, basically all Berettas except the first model 92 (seen in Hotel Rwanda have decocking safeties. The 92S has a rounded trigger and a right decocker. The 92SB has rounded trigger and ambi decocker. The Beretta 92F and FS are visually the same but have a squared trigger guard and an ambi decocker.

Now the have always had frame mounted slide stop safeties like 1911s. Most have ambidextrous frame safeties. The squared trigger guard is slightly more rounded (still reversed curve, but softer). The AF models are more recent and newer looking (they have widened cocking serations). For I.Ding, that's about the basics of it. - Gunmaster45

Flash Animations
I don't even like anime all that much let alone flash animations. The only way I'd except them is if he went through the work of screencapping them. And I doubt he'll do that. - Gunmaster45

:I'm getting tired of these flash animation pages myself. Time to put this trend to rest.

:I like the RE: Extinction page, though of course I must remind you to add links to the gun pages. I think you are right that the Polish subgun must be one of the newer variations, but I knew I recognized the receiver shape when I saw it.

:Also, thanks for ditching the images from the Tunnel Rats pages; I will delete them soon. I have been meaning to for a while, but I must admit I hesitated. -MT2008 02:10, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

::Let me rephrase, I don't like the animes that have guns that look nothing like real guns in which people guess. Those are annoying. - Gunmaster45

::Yeah, the professionally done anime deserves to be included on this site. I know those guys make a serious attempt to draw guns as realistically as possible (I believe they use airsoft guns as their references, but still, give 'em credit for making do with what they have, since Japan's gun laws are so strict). Cartoons like Family Guy are a bit of a stretch, but at least it's a professionally-done TV series, and at least they do make some attempt at realistic guns (i.e. the obvious XM8s in one episode).

::I appreciate you deleting the images, but to be fair, I dunno if I have a problem with low-quality DVD rips per se. When I was a new user here, I did plenty of pages with those myself (nowadays, I mostly use DVDs and iTunes movie rentals). Main reason I was nervous about Pineapple Express was that it was a big movie, and some studio spy might see our page, and he would know it was a bootleg because the movie wasn't out on DVD when the page was screencapped. MoviePropMaster agreed with me on that. Of course, Tunnel Rats is a Uwe Boll movie, which means nobody should get upset if it's bootlegged (that dude doesn't deserve to make money off his movies at all). But that's beside the point...-MT2008 02:41, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Resident Evil: Extinction
Hey, nice work on Resident Evil: Extinction, it looks like GM45 answered your questions. Anyway, as for Flash Animations, I have to agree with you and everyone else. Flash animations don't belong here, anyone can basically create crude animations and shapes with flash. Plus, other users will probably see pages like that, and think they'll be able to put up their stupid airsoft movies. Also, if you want, I could you give an admin recommendation to the head of the site so you can get rid of pages like that without having to wait around for someone else, let me know if you would like to become a mod.--Alienqueen11 02:57, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

:::First of all, it's kinda weird to be talking about him in third-person, since he can read our talk pages. LOL. Anyway, I don't think we were too harsh. The admins agree that flash animations don't qualify for IMFDB inclusion, and we make/enforce the law. Of course, the law hasn't been written, so I see no need to get angry at somebody for being ignorant of something that they couldn't have known. But I guess I would expect common sense to take over where law is non-existent...oh, well.

:::I do agree with you that DVD rips should generally not be used. I have not and will not use them anymore for any new pages I make - I now use mostly iTunes rentals (which are pretty high-quality). Just not sure we should necessarily reject/ban their use. Anyway, all of this is stuff I need to articulate in the IMFDB "constitution" which I hope to write soon. I apologize for not getting it done sooner, but between working 45-hour weeks and trying to get myself into M.A. programs, I have simply not had as much time to devote to this site as I used to have when I was in college and over the summer. Even doing the Hard Target page was a challenge to my schedule. -MT2008 02:59, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

:I second that. You've been on here quite a while and have made lots of excellent contributions, though of course I still must emphasize (being obsessive-compulsive as I am) that you should add links to the guns on all of your movie/TV/anime pages. :) But anyway, it's definitely time we had you "made". ==Airsoft==

they look pretty cool.  Certainly airsoft guns look a lot NEWER and CLEANER than the real ones I handle every day.  But I'm not into airsoft.  In fact a lot of the real hardcore live firearms guys aren't that into Airsoft.  I have NEVER fired an airsoft gun, ever, but we have used airsoft guns as non firing props or stand ins for live guns on set.  So I've handled quite a few of them.  Hopefully you can tell that my pics are of real guns, not airsoft guns.  :)  Airsoft is a great alternative to live guns when we don't want to hand the actors live steel.  Other than that, I have never had any interest in the airsoft gaming activities.  I find it funny when I run into young guys who only know the AIRSOFT names of rifles, rather than the real names of the real guns.  (like the proprietary King or G&G or Classic Army guns, which approximate real world guns).    Also, airsoft has the advantage of NOT rusting in wet weather.  I have to go check the vaults all the time during winter time to make sure the temp control and humidity is okay.  I just ran into a rack of rusting M1 Garands.  best regards. : I think Airsoft is pretty neat, though my experience with it is rather limited. I've only been to one game, and even then I had to borrow a gun from one of the other guys (an ICS M4A1, which I must admit was a pretty sweet AEG, had a metal reciever, barrel, & front sight and even stripped like the real thing). I sadly can't afford any airsoft guns of my own (to say nothing of the real weapons they imitate!), but have a laundry list of airsoft stuff I'd like to get if I did have the money. Hit me up on AIM, MSN, or YIM sometime and we can chat some more about it. Orca1 9904 10:55, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

I like airsoft guns to mess around with but I can't afford any of the heavy duty stuff you serious players use. I've played a few games with my friends on my property (130 acres of fun) but only have spring and replacable battery guns. Basically I buy airsoft guns resembling guns I can't buy in the real steel like assault rifles. My most expensive gun is a metal Marui copy of an AK-47, costed $80 on eBay. So while airsoft is fun, I don't have the gear to play it properly and really prefer real shooting to airsoft. (plus airsoft guns break a little too easy.) - Gunmaster45

Your Classic Army M4A1 is very nice . in Hong Kong more people like G&P more that Classic Army , why ? Because US ARMY use COLT not Armalite . They say : US ARMY are not use Armalite M4A1 . If marking is  Armalite  it is wong . But i think they can make some Civilian Rifles use safe and fire marking .

WE made a gas M4A1 , you think this is good for play ?

WA change to metal very expensive ...

:I used to mess around with airsoft quite a bit when I was younger, and still like to play around with my airsoft guns from time-to-time. My collection includes a Tokyo Marui "MP5A5" (what TM calls the MP5A5 is actually an MP5A3 with Navy trigger group in "real steel"), M16A2, a Western Arms Beretta 92F, and a really cheap CO2 Micro Uzi (can't remember who makes/made it). I used to own a springer Mark 23 (also TM) that got smashed to hell when I dropped it down a flight of stairs when I was 16. However, I've only skirmished a few times in my life, don't own any gear besides the guns/mags, and generally don't care much about the game itself. I mostly just bought the guns because at the time, that was as close as I could get to the real thing without going through my parents, and they refused to let me buy "tacticool" weapons. Now that I am legally old enough to own/buy real guns, those are taking up more of my time/money.

Flashpoint
You may have noticed I've been adding shots from the new season for Flashpoint, but there are three shots I've really wanted that I can't grab. One is a shot of Ed Lane with a Remington 700PSS from the first episode (I no longer have access to that one, and he is the main sniper, he should have a picture.)

The other two shots were from the episode when the robber holds up the bank with a Beretta. Before I realized my computer had a free capping ability, I ran out of my session and only nabbed one shot of the Beretta. There was a good shot were he charges the police before being shot and I couldn't grab it. There were a few other good shots I could have used of his Beretta. The other shot was in the same episode when Sam Braddock is aiming his Remington PSS. There is a great sideshot of him aiming it and plus there is a shot were you see his bolt is open even though he is shooting someone.

I can't get these shots so if you could find them or tell me some sites were I can, it would be much apprieciated. (I tried CTV, it doesn't work for me for some reason.) Thanks. - Gunmaster45

I appreciate the help on my Ultimate Force page. However, do you think you can start with Season 4? I already have the first three seasons on DVD, just not 4. If you did 4 and I did more work on the other three, I think that would be great.

Also, out of curiosity, have you seen this show before? -MT2008 02:35, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

:Yeah, the first two seasons were really good (plus, not so much focus on the soldiers' wives - except for Pete's). But the third season on is where they went downhill, which was mostly because of Chris Ryan leaving and not being around to provide technical advise. I've never seen the fourth, but heard it's really terrible.

:Also, I can add more screenshots of my own. Part of the reason I abandoned the page for so long was because my old laptop had gotten so messed up that I couldn't play DVDs on it anymore. Then when I got my new one, I had trouble getting it to play on multi-region settings (which I needed to watch this show). It was only about 2 months ago that I found a fix, but have been so sidetracked by one stuff that I just didn't get around to it. So I appreciate your work, but I can add shots from the DVDs of Seasons 1-3 now, which is why I'd prefer if you did Season 4, which I actually can't do. -MT2008 23:00, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

::So you mean Season 4 doesn't have any more modern M16 variants, either? Well, it kinda figures. If you check out the page for House of Saddam (made by the BBC), that mini-series shows American soldiers using old M16A1s with 20-round magazines...and this is during scenes taking place during the 2003-present Iraq War!

::Also, can please you please do the following for Ultimate Force:

::*Make sure that all gun entries that you've added have pictures of the weapons.

::*Make sure that all gun entires you've added link to the weapons page.

::*Make sure you images are the same thumbnail size as mine (some of yours are too big).

Clearing some things up
Please don't hate me for saying this stuff but someone has to. You've got to clean up your act on the site (not your personality, your page making). As an Admin., you are setting examples for other users who are learning the proper format and when you don't link actors or guns and don't add a gun pic, neither do the other users and more people do it wrong. Also, I've noticed on some pages you don't do it as completely as you should because you "didn't like the movie." This is kind of unexceptable because if you take on the task of screencapping a film, you should do it complete as any other film, no matter how much is sucks. And are you still using AVI rips? Because MT2008 has said not to use them before and it appears you are still using them for some pages.

I like you man, you know your stuff and you contribute to the site but you've been asked to follow the format before and as an Admin. it is kinda your responsibility to do it right. I can only imagine how much that Warrior must have eaten out of yours (of course, I dunno if you make more or less than I did). I think you made a great choice, though. ::Oh, I haven't had a real job since I graduated from college, either. I worked 30 hours a week at a law firm, and did an unpaid internship on the side for another 20 hrs. It was mostly to improve my resume so that I could get into a good M.A. program (which is what I'm starting in the fall).

::Most ranges have ammo you can buy there, but the costs are going up a lot, so yeah, shooting regularly isn't advised if you can't afford it. My grandfather actually gave me quite a few bags of spent .45 ACP brass when he gave me the S&W, and my Dad has ample reloading supplies (which he uses for his Colt SAA, though they work with both .45 ACP and .45 Long Colt) that he was able to use to fill 'em up. However, the last time I tried his reloads in the S&W, I kept getting stovepipe malfs and even some misfires (repeatedly), so I think I'm gonna have to get him to increase the amount of powder if I ever try them again. Anyway, if I could, I'd send you some of the reloads, since you need them more than I do. -MT2008 04:57, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

:::It was our first time trying to do .45 ACP reloads; my Dad had only done .45 Long Colt before that, so he wasn't sure of the optimal powder loads at the time. When my Grandfather did them, we didn't have the same issues. So I'd have to talk to him to make sure the powder content is sufficient, but, long story short, I think I can make the reloads work better. And that would mean lots of .45 ACP to shoot at much cheaper than what FFLs are charging these days. -MT2008 05:15, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

From what I got from the developer interviews, the idea wasn't for any weapon in the game to directly resemble any existing version of a real-life gun, rather they're designed to look interesting when viewed from above and to the left. So the M16 is more designed as a hybrid that conveys M16-ness, rather than to actually look like a particular version of it. Dongs 06:59, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Policy question
Just wondering; as far as IMFDB is concerned, when does a gun stop being a gun? I ask because I'm working on the article for Crysis at the moment; there's a few obviously fictional weapons [alien guns that fire ice beams, and such] which I'm not sure should stay there, and because the American tank's 120mm gun is a British L11A5; is that something that can be listed, or is there a line after which guns become too big to mention? I notice WW2-related articles don't usually feature towed guns like the big 88s, which is why I'm cautious about including it. Dongs 08:49, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

*Fair enough, I'll knock the more obviously inappropriate entries off when I get some extra screenshots and check a few things more carefully. Thanks. Dongs 09:00, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Team America
Though I despise the carton entries, I kinda disagree with deleting the Team America World police page.  I know some of the model builders and their scaled down models were amazing.  Ultimately, it's no big deal, the page should NOT exist until someone screencaps  these amazing down scaled guns.  But I 'may' do that sometime in the future.  Unlike artwork, these models actually existed and were based on real guns, despite the fact that they were wielded by puppets.  There are far worse offenders on IMFDB ;)  MoviePropMaster2008 07:30, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

artists rendition of guns
Well the same could be said for the countless VIDEO GAMES on this site.  Some of the renditions are so vague, the users are just making wild guesses as to what guns they are.  Just a note, most of the real world armorers don't like listing Video games since we're completely out of the equation and no real world gun exists.  Also the VG designers seem to delight to putting in artistic renditions of the most obscure and recent FOREIGN guns which have never and will never appear in a movie (like the Russian weapons) since no armory, here or abroad has those weapons in inventory.  I was looking at some of the weapons (not obvious ones like the WW2 ones which are clear what they are supposed to be) but some of the more 'tactical' custom jobs.  WTF?  Like the so called Winchester 1200 shotgun in Modern Warfare 2.  The 'real' gun pic,  that's no Winchester 1200, and the photo is of a Winchester 1300 Stainless Marine with ATI Stocks.  The 1200s are no longer made.  And yet someone figured it was a 1200 based on a hard to see video graphic.  Anyway, VG bug the hell out of me, but it's not cut and dry.  Some of the games very clearly show specific weapons, some are just too unclear to be sure. == VG guns ==

*quote*

Well some games can be forgiven to be a little bit lack of detail, but quite a few games do go out, record the sound of the real gun shots and use those in the final production, the bigger problem most gamers has with VG guns is more on their accuracy and power compared to the real thing. VG developers sometimes significantly just make guns that would be powerful and accurate as hell weak as fuck for the sake of game balance. And going with Modern Warfare 2, some of the guns are just stupid for what real world special forces would use. I mean the Bushmaster ACR? I can see how it has military uses, but I don't even think it was even considered for military use. Russian Ultranationalist using AUGs and FAMAS? Spas 12s? Oh yeah and the one big thing a Kriss Super V. That thing last I heard wasn't even in full production yet and they somehow have Russian terrorists get ahold of one? At least with COD4, they were semi consistent with what primary guns people use, the SAS and Marines using M4 weapons, the enemy using AKs, but the random USPs, Berettas and the one mission where you as the SAS trooper holding and M24 sniper rifle was just piss poor. To the mods:  Though my own preference is strongly towards chronological order, I can accede to the wishes of the majority.  I do like the format of Title First, before actor.  Please note all, in the Steyr AUG page that the title, then character, then actor template, dovetails nicely into the other genres (television) but also Anime and Video games.  Since there is no Character in some and no Actor in Anime or Videgame, I think this order maintains the same look from Film all the way down to VG.  Thanks and please look at the page to see what I was referring to.  Thanks again and I look forward to your input on this matter.  MoviePropMaster2008 04:31, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

"I do agree with the fact we should prohibit and make sure people understand that we have to understand the fact that we can't post images of movies unreleased on DVD no matter how high quality they might be as some I've found. And Gunmaster, you're 15, so I don't think you would bash your own age group. I don't remember what it was like being that age. - You"

You'd be surprised, I actually don't like most people in my age group because in my town they're all a bunch of dumbasses. My town is a strange one, 30% of kids are sheep-fucking hicks, 30% of kids are lazy potheads who get in trouble with the cops often, and then I make up some of the 10% of normal people, although people know I like guns so somehow, I'm the wierd one. Anyway, I prefer to hang out with people who are older (from 18 to 50+) and know how to have fun, but aren't idiots at all time. So, in a way, I do bash my own age group. Just clearing that up. ;) BTW, check out [[Face/Off] so far, I'm not done yet but I'm trying to finish it. - Gunmaster45

Hey I noticed you were the one who deleted the MAS-36 page.  Was there a particular reason (i.e.: page creator was being immature), and would it be okay for me to recreate it? -Run its a T-55 21:32, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

I think he was planning on revamping the page in full, which is why he's changing the format. I don't know, you should talk to him about this.

BTW, if you'd like to redo the format on the Mail Call page, feel free. I really don't look forward to fixing the format of such a monstrous page, as finding the time to do it all is difficult. If you do change it though, don't remove screencaps. I'll later decide what stays and goes. ;) - Gunmaster45

::Hmmmm, well, I don't agree with what he did. Even if he doesn't want to do it by gun type, something else would be nice to break up the size of the page. -MT2008

:::Alright, will do. In the meantime, you could change the Protection level to Sysops only, if you wanted, though that might bring about cries of abuse of power. Hopefully, we can resolve this through discussion instead. -MT2008 02:51, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Deletion of content in District 9
Hi, I was just wondering why you deleted the entry for the alien weapon in District 9, since fictional weapons are allowed to be listed if they play particularly important roles in the movie (and the weapon definitely is important if it is being used by a main character). Markit

:Direct me to where it saids fictional weapons are allowed. I mean if the weapon is a plastic shell over a real gun, but I have yet to see any indication of us allowing weapons that don't exist. Excalibur01 00:11, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

::How about previous examples such as the Sonic gun in Minority Report, the The Bio Force Gun v3.14 inDoom, or the Bazookoid from Red Dwarf?. None of those were built over actual weapons either and their effects were simulated.  Markit

(here is a note I've been posting around IMFDB)
I recently had the unpleasant experience of having some of the performers being insulted in some of our movie pages see what some of the IMFDB members write.  there are some pretty condescending remarks regarding horrible grips, gun stance, bad gun discipline and blinking while shooting.  I'm trying to promote the website and it's embarrassing to see actors getting insulted for pretty trivial reasons.  What are your thoughts regarding this?

See below:

I'm asking all members to stop with the sarcastic comments in the screencap descriptions

Too many members feel it's funny to be extremely sarcastic about actor's shooting stance, their blinking, their pistol grips.  Only if it's so over the top as for the average person to notice, then don't keep on harping on it.  Most actors are given only a bare amount of time to train, if at all.  Many times the editor picks the worst take for pistol grip, but best take for other reasons like acting.  Also much of the blame falls on the director.  Some directors don't want to be bothered trying to train the actors and don't allow us armorers to even give them more training than the minimum safety training.  People in the industry check out this website, and some think we're a bunch of obnoxious kids.  I am not happy when people in 'the biz' look at the site and scoff at the snarky remarks.  Some of them are the actual actors being insulted.  We can always put in criticism, but IMFDB members going forward going to criticize a film, should try to do so in a scholarly manner or not at all.  Thanks for your cooperation MoviePropMaster2008 05:53, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Mafia Wars
I'm wondering if you could delete the entry for Mafia Wars as it's a nasty little flash game popular on both Myspace and Facebook. As it's a flash game it's against forum policy and even the creator of the page admit's that it's not kosher.Rockwolf66 07:07, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Infoboxes

Resident Evil 6

Hello, good sir, I hope you don't mind me posting this here, if so please take every right to delete it. But, I have come to plead for your help and expertise. I have added some new discussion to Leon's handgun(s) in Resident Evil 6, and I am asking for your opinion, and if you agree with the evidence I have provided, that you could back me up. If you think I'm an idiot I will admit defeat haha I'm only asking for your expertise. Thanks, again. --TheREwiz

Resident Evil Apocalypse

I was wondering if I could have your permission to work on Resident Evil Apocalypse you know make the weapons all sorted out like it is on the resident evil extinction page? If not then I wont bother you again.

Thank you it will be great.

Stalker on Quora

Looks like you have a Stalker on Quora. I'm not sure what their name was but they have a big axe to grind against you. https://www.quora.com/What-are-you-banned-from-Why/answer/Steven-McReynolds-1

Rockwolf66 (talk) 22:59, 9 September 2019 (EDT)

Wow, talk about narcissistic much. Anyway, I'm pretty sure this guy is Godzillafan93, since he's the one that seems to have contributed most after me on the Walking Dead pages and his talk page has the exchange with Tim regarding "Jap" on it that this Steven McReynolds mentions. Spartan198 (talk) 05:34, 10 September 2019 (EDT)

I wouldn't call this guy a stalker. More like some disgruntled dude with an axe to grind. "not racist enough". Guess he doesn't know what race we all are. Excalibur01 (talk) 20:56, 10 September 2019 (EDT)

I think everyone who's been monitoring this long enough knows I actually haven't made any edits or messages in a long ass time. WACO was the last page I made. I really don't go out of my way to correct users unless to make a direct conversation. I really don't know what he's referring to about me correcting his racist comments. Though I am flattered that he'd address me as "Marine Corps" Excalibur01 (talk) 21:00, 10 September 2019 (EDT)

Ok, so apparently if someone calls a female character a mary sue, one of us is going to accuse us of being a misogynist? Are we the thought police now? I seriously don't believe Eviltim is like that. Excalibur01 (talk) 21:03, 10 September 2019 (EDT)

Lol this guy, huh? For the record, the chunk of his rant about his old 'Mary Sue' remark was me, so I apologize to Tim and/or you for getting smeared with that. ;P And I only merely thought it was worth mentioning because if he wants to waste time grandstanding on social and cultural etiquette maybe he could start by practicing what he preaches. A lesson I suppose he's learned now - "How pathetic does your life have to be for you to waste that much time on something this trivial?" Indeed. XD But whatever, I guess it's his life and all. Glad he's still using the site as a resource though - After all I always thought that's really what we're here for. ;) StanTheMan (talk) 21:29, 10 September 2019 (EDT)
To be fair, this site isn't the most well maintained. I haven't head from Bunni in forever. And also the Latest Updates page is still broken Excalibur01 (talk) 22:26, 10 September 2019 (EDT)
I know I'm not around much as I have a life and don't have time to do lots of screencaps or to get the lattest in movies. I still check the site from time to time but I just don't have the time to do stuff here. I posted the link because the guy is spewing a bunch of BS and he singled out Excaliber. Rockwolf66 (talk) 22:44, 10 September 2019 (EDT)
I think bunni does what he can but yeah, some things have fallen by the wayside. Seems to have lost a step with Zackmann being gone. As for this fool, eh, let him spew. He's hardly the only one out there doing that, even in regards to this site. StanTheMan (talk) 16:42, 11 September 2019 (EDT)
