Stawka wieksza niz zycie (English: More Than Life at Stake) is a Polish produced war espionage television series directed by Janusz Morgenstern, which ran from 1967 - 1968. It tells the story of the Polish intelligence officer Stanislav Kolicki alias Julek (Stanislaw Mikulski), who is sent to Nazi Germany as a secret agent J-23 instead captured Abwehr officer Hans Kloss. His rival and main negative character is a Gestapo officer Hermann Brunner (Emil Karewicz). In each episode are his ally and also adversary the beautiful women, represented by the famous Polish actresses (Janina Boronska, Wanda Koczeska, Jolanta Wollejko, Lucyna Winnicka, Iga Cembrzynska, Barbara Soltysik, Joanna Jedryka, Lidia Korsakówna, Beata Tyszkiewicz, Anna Seniuk, Aleksandra Zawieruszanka, Barbara Brylska). In Eastern Europe had become a cult TV series, that was replacing viewers stories of James Bond.
