Detective Joe Fontana (Dennis Farina) carries a Smith & Wesson Model 19 Snub Nose as his service weapon. Although the Model 19 was not on the NYPD approved carry list, Fontana (like Dennis Farina) had started his career in the Chicago Police Department, and may have been grandfathered in.
Smith & Wesson Model 36
A Smith & Wesson Model 36 is found in "Flaw" (S16E02).
Det. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) shows the S&W 36 found in "Flaw" (S16E02). This episode was a direct continuation of the SVU episode "Design" (S07E02), which had air the night before.
