The following firearms were used in the film Maverick:

Single Action Army

Bret Maverick (Mel Gibson) carries a Single Action Army with a five inch barrel as his sidearm. Many other characters also carry SAAs. Maverick evidently keeps it with all six loaded, as opposed to many actual Old West gunfighters, evident in the scene in which Annabelle Bransford (Jodie Foster) accidentally discharges his revolver when she falls on his holster and when Maverick tells her and Coop that he has "six bullets" when facing off against the bandits (although he fires many more than six shots without reloading).

Colt Single Action Army w/ 4.75" barrel, referred to as "Quick-Draw" or "Civilian" model - .45 Long Colt

Maverick draws his SAA inside the Crystal River saloon when he meets Mrs. Bransford.

Maverick with his SAA drawn against Johnny Hardin (Max Perlich) (Most likely a reference to Old West gunfighter John Wesley Hardin).

A boy in the street holds Maverick's SAA during Maverick's first major fight.

The bank robber (Danny Glover) holds a nickel Quickdraw model during the robbery when Maverick discovers Eugene (Geoffrey Lewis) was holding out on him. Glover's appearance is a nod to the Lethal Weapon series in which he and Gibson starred (as is the music playing when they "recognize" each other).

One of the men Maverick paid to fight him holds a nickel Quickdraw SAA in his face.

Maverick draws his SAA on Annabelle and Coop.

Maverick de-cocks his SAA while hanging on the cliff.

Angel (Alfred Molina) loads a Henry 1860 onto his horse before he fights Maverick's cronies.

Marshal Zane "Coop" Cooper (James Garner, who played Bret Maverick in the original TV series) carries a silver-gripped Remington 1875 as his primary sidearm.

Marshal Zane Cooper (James Garner) keeps a Bisley Colt SAA with white grips as his backup weapon, which Maverick (Mel Gibson) grabs and fires during the confrontation aboard the Lauren Belle after the poker game.

Colt Single Action Army produced in Bisley, England. 5" barrel known as the "Bisley Colt". Note distinct grip and hammer shape.

Coop draws his Remington and Bisley outside the outlaw camp.

Mrs. Annabelle Bransford (Jodie Foster) keeps a Sharps Pistol, which she lends to Maverick (Mel Gibson) to use during his battle with the outlaws.

Kentucky Flintlock Rifle

The Russian Grand Duke (Paul L. Smith) has a Kentucky Flintlock Rifle when Joseph tells him to go hunting for an "Injun'" (Maverick in disguise) in order to get back the money to pay Maverick.

A woman ejected from the poker game on the Lauren Belle has a Colt Thuer Derringer in her purse, which falls out.

Angel (Alfred Molina) keeps a Remington 1866 Derringer up his sleeve on a device similar to the one used by Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver.

Commodore Duvall (James Coburn) uses a Sharps 1874 with a telescopic sight when chasing after Coop.
