In the third season, Jimmy starts a full-scale war against his older brother Chuck after learning that he secretly recorded his confession to committing a crime. At this time, Mike begins working for Gustavo Fring, as it is in both of their interests to hurt the Salamanca Family's business. The season premiered on April 10, 2017.

Continuing a scene from the end of Season 2, Mike (Jonathan Banks) holds a snub-nosed Smith & Wesson Model 629 Performance Center revolver in "Mabel" (S3E01) trying to find the mysterious intruder. Later in the episode he takes the revolver with him while following a courier Diego (David DeLaO) with a GPS tracker.

What appears to be a Smith & Wesson 659 is carried by the guard of the Cartel truck (Mariano Mendoza) as a sidearm in "Sunk Costs" (S3E03). The distinctive safety lever, grips, and profile are enough to positively identify it as the 659.

In "Sunk Costs" (S3E03), the guard of the Cartel truck (Mariano Mendoza) is armed with a custom Mossberg 500 Cruiser with an MP5K foregrip. He puts it together with other weapons in a buried cache before crossing the border.
