Resident Evil 2 (2019) is a PC, PS4 and Xbox One remake of the original 1998 Resident Evil 2, in the same vein as the 2002 Resident Evil remake. The remake features significantly updated graphics, new third-person gameplay, and a retold storyline. Players are able to play as Leon Scott Kennedy, Claire Redfield, and will also be able to play as Ada Wong and Sherry Birkin during certain sections of the two player characters' campaigns. Additional modes featuring HUNK and Tofu will also be included.
The following weapons appear in the video game Resident Evil 2 (2019):
Handguns
Heckler & Koch VP70M
Like the original game, Leon starts the game with the Heckler & Koch VP70 pistol. It is called by the series' staple name for the gun, "Matilda". It uses Handgun Ammunition (9x19mm Parabellum rounds), and is underloaded to 12 rounds. The VP70 can be upgraded with an unrealistic 24 round extended magazine, the burst fire stock and a compensator to reduce recoil. The in-game weapon description states that the Matilda is a "Non-standard issue gun with problems that make it impractical for the general public", implying that it is Leon's personal carry gun rather than his RPD service weapon.
Smith & Wesson Bodyguard
Claire starts her campaign with the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard revolver, known under the name "SLS 60". It is a 5-shot 9mm handgun in-game.
Mauser HSc
Ada Wong carries a black Mauser HSc as her weapon of choice. In-game it is known as the "Broom Hc". The player can use it in Ada's playable section, though its power is rather anemic and it has no upgrades. It holds 9 rounds of 9mm Handgun Ammo.
Browning Hi-Power Mark III
Leon is seen using a Browning Hi-Power Mark III in the reveal trailer for the remake, which makes sense, as the Hi-Power is one of the stated official duty pistols of the RPD, though he cannot use one in the final game. In the final game, Claire can find the Browning in the boot of a police car at the Parking Garage, which requires a Car Key found near the Firing Range of the police station to be unlocked. It is called "JMB Hp3", "Hp3" obviously being a reference to the actual name of the gun, Hi-Power Mark III, while "JMB" likely stands for John Moses Browning. The JMB Hp3 is a 13-shot 9mm handgun that can be upgraded with an 26-round extended magazine and a laser sight.
Desert Eagle Mark XIX
A black Desert Eagle Mark XIX with custom wood grips and a modified safety appears as the "Lightning Hawk". While very similar to the original Desert Eagle from Resident Evil 2, its model is not based on the item sprite of the original. It can be acquired by Leon in the S.T.A.R.S. office after a somewhat lengthy treasure hunt. True to the other magnum pistols of the series, it is incredibly powerful but is hampered by its rare MAG Ammo, which are .50 AE rounds. It can be upgraded with a long barrel and a red dot sight that, oddly, behaves like a laser sight.
Colt Single Action Army
The Colt Single Action Army returns from the original Resident Evil 2 and appears as a new game plus weapon for Claire, under the name "Quickdraw Army". The SAA uses "Large-caliber Handgun Ammo" in-game, which are .45 ACP rounds.
M1911A1
The M1911A1 from Resident Evil 7 reappears as a new game plus weapon for Leon, under the same name, "M19". Like the SAA, the M1911 uses "Large-caliber Handgun Ammo", or .45 ACP rounds.
Beretta 92FS "Samurai Edge"
The S.T.A.R.S (Special Tactics And Rescue Service) standard-issue "Samurai Edge" custom Beretta 92FS Brigadier makes a comeback as preorder DLC. There are four different variants: the original basic model and Wesker's model, and also Chris and Jill's model, which are based on limited edition Tokyo Marui Samurai Edge pistols.
Heckler & Koch USP
HUNK uses a two tone Heckler & Koch USP pistol in The 4th Survivor, named "MUP" in-game. It has a 16-round capacity, and uses 9mm rounds.
Revolver
RPD Chief Brian Irons is seen using a revolver to threaten Claire in the Gamescom 2018 trailer.
Submachine Guns
Ingram MAC-11
The MAC-11 can be found in Claire Redfield's campaign, under the name "MQ 11". It uses "Submachine Gun Ammo", or .380 ACP rounds, and has a 24-round capacity that can be upgraded to 50 rounds.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
HUNK wields an MP5A3 with its iron sights replaced by an optic in The 4th Survivor game mode, known under the name "LE 5". Like the MAC-11, it uses .380 ACP "Submachine Gun Ammo" in-game, and holds 32 rounds.
Shotguns
Remington 870
Leon can acquire a Remington 870 in a pistol grip configuration early on in the game. It is known as the W-870 in-game and is initially found with a 4-round tube magazine which can later be upgraded to 8 rounds along with an extended barrel for a tighter spread, as well as a full stock for reduced recoil. Interestingly, it starts with black polymer furniture, but this is switched out for wood as the gun is upgraded.
Grenade Launchers
M79
Claire can find an M79 in her campaign. Named "GM 79", the grenade launcher starts with a pistol grip and fixed iron sights, which can be upgraded with a full length stock that reduces recoil and allows shots to travel in a more stable trajectory. The fixed stock upgrade also adds a leaf sight to the weapon. It should be noted that when the launcher has a pistol grip, it only takes up one slot in the inventory, while when it is full length, it takes up 2 slots.
