The Expendables 3 is the third installment in The Expendables film trilogy, which began with 2010's The Expendables and continued with 2012's The Expendables 2. The 2014 sequel was directed by Patrick Hughes and Sylvester Stallone returns as Barney Ross, the leader of his team of mercenaries, who this time is forced to confront the co-founder of The Expendables, a rogue arms dealer named Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson). In the third film, several more action film icons in addition to Mel Gibson make their Expendables debut, including Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Robert Davi and Antonio Banderas. The majority of the Expendables from the first two films returns for the third installment along with new additions Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz, Glenn Powell, and Kellan Lutz.
The following weapons were used in the film The Expendables 3:
WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Handguns
Colt Single Action Army
Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) carries the same customized Single Action Army that he used in the two previous films.
Custom Kimber Gold Combat II
Barney Ross uses a pair of Kimber Gold Combat II pistols as his sidearms in the film, the same Kimber Gold Combat II pistols that he wielded in the first film. In this film, the Kimbers' grips feature small "Expendable" emblems on both guns. The same symbol is also seen in Barney's toothpick knife. Smilee (Kellan Lutz) picks up one of the Kimbers and tosses it back to Barney.
SIG-Sauer P226 (Two-tone)
A two-tone SIG-Sauer P226 is used by Luna (Ronda Rousey).
SIG-Sauer P226R
SIG-Sauer P226Rs are used by several of the Expendables, namely Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Doc (Wesley Snipes), and Galgo (Antonio Banderas). Toll Road (Randy Couture) is also seen with a P226R during the final firefight, and Goran Vata (Robert Davi) is briefly seen with one, as well as enemy soldiers.
SIG-Sauer SP2022
Luna (Ronda Rousey) is briefly seen using a SIG Pro SP2022 during the final firefight.
Smith & Wesson Model 500
A 4" Smith & Wesson Model 500 is seen used by Stonebanks as his sidearm.
Springfield Armory XD9 Tactical
Yin Yang (Jet Li) is seen dual-wielding Springfield Armory XD9 tactical handguns while clearing out the rooftops with Trench (Arnold Schwarzenegger). This footage is only available in the Blu-Ray unrated cut.
Heckler & Koch P30
Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren) is seen firing a Heckler & Koch P30 at a gun range and presumably carries it as his sidearm throughout the film.
Heckler & Koch USP
Trench Mauser (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is briefly seen holding a USP of unknown caliber on Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) when Ross sneaks back to the airbase.
Heckler & Koch USP Match
Krug (Ivan Kostadinov) can be seen with a Heckler & Koch USP Match holstered throughout the film. He notably pulls it during the ambush in Bucharest while protecting Stonebanks (Mel Gibson).
Makarov PM
In a continuity error, a tank crewman's P226R briefly turns into a Makarov PM before he is shot by Toll Road (Randy Couture).
Glock
During a fight with Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), an enemy commando pulls what appears to be a full-size 3rd gen Glock 17.
M1911 Variant
During the ambush in Bucharest, Stonebanks (Mel Gibson) is very briefly seen firing a nickel or chrome 1911 of unknown make and model.
Submachine Guns
FN P90
Luna (Ronda Rousey) and Smilee (Kellan Lutz) are both seen with FN P90s during the finale.
Arsenal Shipka
Smilee (Kellan Lutz) commandeers an Arsenal Shipka from a dead soldier and uses it during the finale.
Heckler & Koch MP5KA1
Doc (Wesley Snipes) is seen with an MP5KA1 during the finale of the movie.
Heckler & Koch MP5KA5
Thorn (Glenn Powell) can be seen armed with the Heckler & Koch MP5KA5 which has a four position selector switch, low profile sights and a PDW-style stock.
Heckler & Koch MP5K
One of Stonebanks' bodyguards is seen briefly with an MP5K in Bucharest, as distinguished from the MP5KA1 by its sights.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
Yin Yang (Jet Li) is seen with an MP5A3 when he and Trench (Arnold Schwarzenegger) are clearing the roof. Mars (Victor Ortiz) is also briefly seen with one when leaving the building. It has an EOTech sight and a Surefire 628 weaponlight foregrip. In some scenes, Yang's weapon lacks a protruding barrel, perhaps because the SMG was an airsoft replica with the orange plug removed.
Heckler & Koch UMP45
Luna (Ronda Rousey) is seen retrieving a Heckler & Koch UMP45 from a fallen enemy soldier during the finale.
Rifles
Heckler & Koch G36K
Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) is seen with a Heckler & Koch G36K, fitted with a G36V-style export sight. This weapon is also seen in the hands of Stonebanks' men, as well as being briefly carried by Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren).
Heckler & Koch G36C
Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson) uses a Heckler & Koch G36C with some optic. Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) also carries one with an EOTech sight.
Steyr AUG
Doc (Wesley Snipes) uses a Steyr AUG carbine in the film, sometimes with a suppressor.
Noveske/Colt Hybrid
Throughout the film, Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) carries a rifle consisting of a Noveske 16" Infantry upper receiver and a Colt lower receiver (as the weapon is seen firing on full auto). His rifle is mounted with a C-more sight, a Surefire M900, and Magpul BUS, as well as occasionally mounting a suppressor.
M4A1 Carbine
Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Gunnar (Dolph Lundgren) carry the M4A1. During the ambush in Bucharest, Smilee (Kellan Lutz) and Luna (Ronda Rousey) use a suppressed M4A1s fitted with Trijicon ACOGs and what appear to be a thermal or night vision optics. The same weapon is picked up briefly by Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) on the highway. An M4A1 is also used by Mars (Victor Ortiz) as part of the CornerShot weapon system. Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) temporarily commandeers a modified M4A1 during the finale during the "Christmas Gauntlet" scene available in the Blu-Ray Unrated Cut.
Heckler & Koch HK416D
Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) carries a Heckler & Koch HK416D with a 10.4" barrel, mounted with a C-more and a Surefire M900. The HK416D is also seen in the hands of Galgo (Antonio Banderas), with a 14.5" barrel. Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) appears to use an outfitted HK416D during the ambush in Bucharest, although it is not seen very clearly.
AK Variants
Multiple AK-47 variants are seen being utilized by Stonebanks' henchmen, most of which are of the early milled receiver "Type III" variant. The bakelite furniture that these rifles are equipped with suggests that they are Bulgarian made copies, rather than the original Russian models. They are occasionally commandeered by the Expendables, namely by Caesar (Terry Crews) and Toll Road (Randy Couture) in Mogadishu, and by Galgo (Antonio Banderas) and Luna (Ronda Rousey) during the finale.
SIG SG 552
Toll Road (Randy Couture) is briefly seen with a SIG SG 552 during the finale. In a continuity error, it is shown both with and without an EOTech sight.
SIG SG 551
Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren) is seen firing what appears to be a SIG SG 551 carbine at a gun range. Note the type of charging handle which is only used on the SG550/551/553 but not the 552. It is seen being fired in three-round bursts.
Shotguns
Saiga-12 (mocked up as AA-12)
"Trench" Mauser (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is seen using an AA-12 shotgun fitted with a weaponlight and a drum magazine as he did for the climax of the second movie. According to ISS that own the only 2 AA-12s in Hollywood, the AA-12 in this movie is actually a mockup built from a Saiga-12.
Mossberg 590
Mars (Victor Ortiz) is seen with a Mossberg 590 during the finale. It has a heat shield, extended magazine tube, SpeedFeed stock, and two shell carriers.
Machine Guns
Handheld M134 Minigun
A mockup of a hand held M134 Minigun is seen used by Hale Caesar (Terry Crews). In several promotional images, he is seen wielding an actual minigun. It is notable that in this film the characters talk explicitly about the ammunition reserves only lasting ten seconds, which is clear once Caesar fires the weapon. This is much closer to being realistic than other films that depict a Minigun being fired with ammunition stored in a backpack.
M134 Minigun
What appears to be an M134 minigun is forward mounted on both Drummer's helicopter and the helicopter that opens fire on Galgo.
FN Minimi Paratrooper
Toll Road is seen carrying the FN Minimi Paratrooper.
FN MAG/M240G Machine Gun
Trench (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Yin Yang (Jet Li) are seen using the M240G Machine Gun when riding in the attack helicopter flown by Drummer (Harrison Ford).
PKM Machine Gun
PKM machine guns are seen mounted on several technicals in Mogadishu. One is briefly commandeered by Toll Road (Randy Couture).
KPV Heavy Machine Gun
The KPV heavy machine gun mounted on a ZPU-4 quad anti-aircraft mount is seen during the intro.
NSV Machine Gun
The NSV heavy machine gun is mounted in a turret of a military MT-LB.
M197
The M197 Vulcan appears in the film as the forward mounted gun on the Agusta A129 Mangusta attack helicopters that attack Drummer's chopper.
Launchers
M203A1 Grenade Launcher
Lee Christmas has an M203A1 Grenade Launcher attached to his M4. Judging by how it's only attachment point is at the rear of the handguard, it may be an airsoft version.
M202A1 FLASH
An M202A1 FLASH is seen being fired by a soldier during the film's finale.
RPG-7
The RPG-7 features in the film.
GP-25
The GP-25 is seen mounted on AK-47s used by Somali militiamen.
Milkor MGL Mk 1L
Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren) briefly carries the Milkor MGL Mk 1L, as previously seen in The Expendables 2, during the finale. It is also uses by one of Stonebanks's men to fire on the team's truck upon their escape from Bucharest.
Heckler & Koch XM25 (mockup)
The Heckler & Koch XM25 is being demonstrated by Mars (Victor Ortiz), who incorrectly refers it as an assault rifle. Upon closer inspection, the weapon is a mockup consisting of a plastic shell over an L85A1.
FGM-148 Javelin
An FGM-148 Javelin is seen during the arms deal between Stonebanks and Vata.
Automatic Grenade Launcher
Doc (Wesley Snipes) commandeers what appears to be an automatic grenade launcher mounted on the armored train during the intro.
Other
CornerShot
Mars (Victor Ortiz) uses a CornerShot fitted with a suppressed M4A1 carbine during the ambush in Bucharest.
Hand Grenades
Several members of the team use hand grenades during the finale, notably Lee Christmas (Jason Statham). The training versions of both the Mk 2 and M67 hand grenades are seen.
