The Zombie Walks (Im Banne des Unheimlichen (literally "Under the Spell of the Unknown"; DVD title The Hand of Power) is a 1968 German detective movie directed by Alfred Vohrer and very loosely based on the 1927 novel "The Hand of Power" by Edgar Wallace. Oliver Ramsey is killed in an airplane crash. During the funeral, eerie laugh sounds from inside the coffin. Soon a mysterious person dresses up in a skeleton costume begins murdering people who are connected with Ramsey family, using a poison-filled scorpion-shaped ring. Sir Cecil, the brother of the deceased, suspects that his brother isn't really dead. Inspector Higgins (Joachim Fuchsberger) teams with reporter Peggy Ward (Siw Mattson) to investigate the case.
The film is the 26st installment in the Rialto Film studio Edgar Wallace film series (1959-1972).
WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!
The following weapons were used in the film The Zombie Walks (Im Banne des Unheimlichen):
Mauser HSc
A Mauser HSc is Inspector Higgins' (Joachim Fuchsberger) handgun. Nurse Adela (Claude Farell) holds Higgins' pistol in the final scene.
Quadruple Handgun
When Inspector Higgins and Peggy Ward (Siw Mattson) pursue a stranger in the attic of the castle, Peggy arms herself with a large quadruple handgun. It is seen mostly in darkness so it's hard to say if this is a quadruple pistol or a pepperbox revolver. What is seen allows to guess that this is the same custom gun that is used in Eurowestern Thunder at the Border of Winnetou film series, made by same studio two years earlier.
Sten Mk II
"The Laughing Corpse" (SPOILER! Highlight to see description) Oliver Ramsey alias Ramiro (Peter Mosbacher)) uses a Sten Mk II in the final scene.
