Amongst Vultures (original German title Unter Geiern, alternative English title Frontier Hellcat) is a 1964 Eurowestern directed by Alfred Vohrer. It is the fifth movie in Winnetou film series, based on the novels by Karl May. In Amongst Vultures Winnetou (Pierre Brice) and his friend Old Surehand (Stewart Granger) help the Texas settlers and the Shoshone tribe to counter the vile plans of "Vultures" gang to kindle the war on frontier.
The following weapons were used in the film Amongst Vultures:
Handguns
Arminius HW-1S Revolver
All "Vultures", including their chief Preston (Sieghardt Rupp), his second-in-command Stewart (Voja Miric) and "Reverend" Weller (Miha Baloh), carry 5-shot Arminius revolvers with 6" barrels, identified by the typical shape of the frame, ejector rod and sometimes seen logo. It appear to be the long barreled version of HW-1S signal revolver. Except for "Vultures", Arminius revolvers are also seen in hands of Martin Bauman Jr. (Gotz George) and Baker Jr. (Terence Hill) (although main guns of both characters are Single Action Army revolvers). Annie Dillman (Elke Sommer) manages to disarm "Vulture" Bloomfield (Dusan Bulajic) when she is abducted. Baker Sr. (Vladimir Medar) takes a revolver from slain "Vulture" during the final battle.
Single Action Army Revolver
Martin Bauman Jr. (Gotz George), Wabble (Milan Srdoc) and Baker Jr. (Terence Hill) carry Single Action Army revolvers of "Quick-Draw" model. Preston's henchman Gordon (Louis Velle), posing as the US Army Lt., is armed with "Cavalry" model. The revolvers appear to be European replicas.
Derringer
Gordon (Louis Velle) also carries a Derringer as backup weapon. Old Surehand (Stewart Granger) disarms Gordon and finds that the gun belonged to Surehand's slain friend. The Derringer isn't seen close enough to be identified for sure but its general outlook with "bird's beak" grip resembles Colt Thuer Derringer (probably it's an European replica as original Derringers are rarely seen in Old World).
Shotguns
Double Barreled Shotgun
Double Barreled Shotgun with exposed hammers is the favoured gun of Martin Bauman Sr. (Walter Barnes). Such shotguns are also used by Baker Sr. (Vladimir Medar), Judge George Leader (Renato Baldini) and many settlers during the final battle.
Rifles and Muskets
Winchester Model 1894
The Winchester Model 1894 is Old Surehand's (Stewart Granger) weapon. In the scene in Shoshone camp he temporary hands the rifle to Winnetou (Pierre Brice) and then to Wokadeh (Gojko Mitic). Martin Bauman Jr. (Gotz George) carries the Winchester Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine in several scenes.
"The Silver Gun"
The double barreled rifle, named "The Silver Gun", is Winnetou's (Pierre Brice) signature weapon.
Single Shot Rifle 1
Various characters, including Wabble (Milan Srdoc), Martin Bauman Sr. (Walter Barnes), Annie Dillman (Elke Sommer), Judge George Leader (Renato Baldini), Bauman's farmhands Davy (Mirko Boman) and Jemmy (Vladimir Bacic), and numerous settlers, use single shot top-break hunting rifles. Such rifles were (and still are) produced by various manufacturers in Europe and America; They are often referred by the German term Kipplaufbüchse.
Single Shot Rifle 2
Some Shoshone warriors, including chief Wokadeh (Gojko Mitic), carry another model of single shot rifle. While its outlook resembles Martini-Henry rifles, it is clearly seen to be break action guns.
Jaeger Rifle
What appears to be a kind of German Jaeger Rifle is seen in the dining hall on Bauman's farm, used as decoration.
Flintlock Musket
A Flintlock Musket, used as decoration, is also seen in the dining hall on Bauman's farm. It has the shortened stock that makes it look like a hunting gun rather than a military one.
Flintlock Carbine
A flintlock cavalry carbine is also used as decoration on Bauman's farm.
