The Sadness - Writer's commentary

Oh, boy.... this movie. I have a bit of a mixed relationship with it. For one, it's a seriously slickly-filmed piece of horror work with incredible practical effects, but at the same time, it's seriously sick, messed up, and honestly kinda traumatizing. I am still extremely thankful that the director didn't want to double down hard on the movie's gore aspect and still kept some restraint, at least. The scene where the Businessman rapes the stabbed-out eye socket of Kat's friend was actually filmed to show as little of the act as possible (only zooming in on the guy's face), but it would have been really different if the director was in a different state of mind...
I first found out about this movie from a friend who was watching it with some relatives. As they described what was happening in the movie, I found myself extremely disgusted... but curious. A while later, I eventually found a copy for myself and realized - this movie could actually be on IMFDB, and it'd make a nice addition to the really small Taiwan-produced category. Problem is, I got rid of my copy a long time ago by the time I realized that, and I was not at all willing to get a new one and go through it for the guns. Thankfully, TheExplodingBarrel volunteered to go through the movie himself for the weapons while I was busy (hanging out with some friends), and I was surprised to see that he actually did get the screenshots. Barrel, I'm still really thankful that you actually did that for me. Thank you so much, man.
The page is pretty small, but I still think that the gun selection is real interesting. I'm very much willing to bet that the doctor's Glock is said to be 3D-printed just as an excuse for the gun to break Far Cry 2-style in the middle of a tense scene. The president's head exploding from the grenade was pretty neat too, though it is surprisingly one of the most tame things in the whole movie. The stuff that they show in that movie is wild, like the baseball kids slamming a guy's dick into a pole with barbed wire wrapped around it, and the scene where a guy stabs and kills 5 people in a train and starts babbling and asking if he "broke the record" (a reference to the 2014 Taipei Metro attack, where 4 people died; the guy actually and quite literally did one-up the original metro stabber). The stuff in this movie is seriously messed up (I wonder how it even got away with an R-16 rating here when it was in cinemas, they HAD to have censored it), and if you value your sanity, I highly suggest not watching this movie at all.
All in all, it's a pretty interesting movie, but it's one I'm not gonna revisit anytime soon. --Dnkakusei (talk) 12:58, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

It was no problem buddy :). I think my exposure to real actual gore videos might have desensitised me a bit to the gore in the film, although I did still gag at one point while getting the screenshots. TheExplodingBarrel (talk) 22:48, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
