The Smith & Wesson Model 36 is the sidearm typically carried by the NYPD detectives in Season 1, including Detective John Kelly (David Caruso), Andy Sipowicz (Dennis Franz), Detective Greg Medavoy (Gordon Clapp) and James Martinez (Nicholas Turturro). Kelly's revolver is fitted with custom grips.
