Milk (2008)

Milk is a 2008 biographical film of the life and assassination of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man elected to a major political office in the United States. Directed by Gus Van Sant (Drugstore Cowboy), the film stars Sean Penn as Milk, a role for which Penn would go on to receive the Academy Award for Best Actor. The film's cast includes Josh Brolin, Emile Hirsch, Diego Luna, and James Franco.
