Jurassic Park: Trespasser is a 1998 PC video game that was released in conjuction with the 1997 film The Lost World: Jurassic Park.  Unlike traditional games, Trespasser used a lot of new things ahead of its time, including an early attempt at a realistic physics engine, and attempted to incorporate a realistic aiming system. Players were able to carry two firearms at a time, and must use the characters arm to aim the weapon with their iron sights of a chosen weapon to kill a potential target.

Worth noting is that the main character, Anne, only has one usable arm. This means all weapons are held and operated with just her right arm. The use of semi-automatic shotguns could have been a way to justify this.

Springfield Armory M1911
 +
A Springfield Armory M1911, called the "M1911A1," was present in early demos of the game but was sort-of cut from the final product. By "sort of," the only place it can be found is a ridiculous distance up in the air outside the map of the level Jungle Road, at the coordinates 22,79,2. If the player can successfully draw a bead on the pixel-sized levitating gun, it can be shot down and used: it is incomplete but functional, has no firing sound, has an absolutely absurd ammo count to the point that it takes quite a few shots before Anne actually says anything (eventually getting to "about 30") and has the "magnet" attachment point on the grip placed incorrectly such that Anne holds the gun sideways. It interestingly has a Springfield trademark on the slide, which might mean it was "removed" for legal reasons.

Simply Called the .357 Revolver, the Smith & Wesson Model 586 is one of the few starting firearms in the beginning levels and is perhaps the most common to be found early on but slowly starts to fade to becoming harder to find in later levels. Despite the power of the .357 Magnum round it is often one of the weaker pistols of the game, often taking 3-4 shots to the head to drop a single Raptor from either Raptor Tribe A or Raptor Tribe B. It is almost useless versus the Raptors in Tribe C, who often take the entire 6 rounds without dying.

Desert Eagle Mark VII
The Desert Eagle Mark VII Pistol in .44 Caliber is featured in-game as the most prominent pistol and is perhaps labeled the best pistol in the game. This is due to the good power and range of the gun with a decent sized magazine of 8 rounds as well as being the most commonly encountered pistol in the games levels. It is the Israeli Military Industries version of the Desert Eagle Mark VII with a nickel finish, as opposed to the more modern Israeli Weapon Industries Desert Eagle Mark XIX. The Desert Eagle .44 is capable of killing most Raptors in between 2 to 5 shots, with the rare occurrence of some Raptors (such as the Tribe C Raptors) taking 5 or 6 rounds to the head before dropping.

Contrary to most media usage, the Desert Eagle's presence here is rather appropriate, being primarily a sport and hunting weapon; since the game's story follows a few years after The Lost World: Jurassic Park, it is safe to assume (and implied in in-game audio logs) that it was a weapon used by the hunting parties.

:They were right to feature this version of the Desert Eagle in game, contrary to popular belief the Desert Eagle is a poor weapon choice in today's modern theater of combat and is primarily a sport and hunting pistol. Since the Story follows a few years after the Movie The Lost World: Jurassic Park it is safe to assume and is explained partially in the audio logs that is was one of the weapons used by the Hunting Parties.

Ruger Redhawk
+
The Ruger Redhawk with what appears to be a 7.5" barrel is another commonly encountered firearm in the game. It carries 6 rounds of .44 Magnum. Despite using the same round as the Desert Eagle it is more powerful with much higher range, at the cost of a slower firing speed and two fewer rounds over the Desert Eagle. It is often known as the one-shot-one-kill gun, as a single headshot is usually more than enough to drop a raptor from either Tribe A or Tribe B. Tribe C Raptors, being unusually tough, are capable of sustaining 2 or more rarely 3 headshots from this weapon. It is often left for the more popular Desert Eagle as many players prefer the faster rate of fire, lower recoil and larger 8-round magazine.

Heckler & Koch VP70M
The Heckler & Koch VP70 pistol is one of the very few 9mm handguns used in the game but is said to be the first polymer pistol in the game guide and manual. It fires in 3 round bursts, which doesn't seem possible in the game, as the weapon does not feature the select fire stock holster, meaning the weapon is stuck in 3 round burst mode (need some confirmation on this one) and fires with an 18 round magazine totaling to around 6 bursts a pop. It's surprisingly obvious that the VP70M is not as effective against most forms of Dino on Site B, often taking around 2 bursts or 6 shots to the head to a Tribe A Raptor or 9 or 12 shots or 3 to 4 bursts to a Tribe B Raptor. It is often labeled as the Weakest Handgun, even lower than the Beretta due to the smaller magazine. The main reason for it's unpopularity is that Ann, when close to an empty magazine will say "Nearly empty" when really it has spent all it's rounds in the magazine and cause players to experience the "Dead Mans Click".

It is often labeled as the weakest handgun in the game, even lower than the Beretta due to the smaller magazine. The main reason for its lack of popularity is that Anne will state "nearly empty" when firing the 16th round, not taking any note that the final 17th and 18th bullets went out with it, which can lead inattentive players to experience the "Dead Man's Click".

Beretta 93R
The Beretta 93R is another 9mm pistol featured in the game, firing in 3 round bursts like the VP-70 but is often favored more over the VP-70 due to the slightly larger magazine size of 20 rounds as opposed to 18. Unlike the VP-70 however, the Beretta is relatively in-accurate and is only useful at short range and it fires slower than the VP-70, as there is a noticeable pause between bursts. Much like the VP-70 it takes a lot of rounds to down most Raptor's but most players find the Beretta easier to aim.

The Tranquillizer Pistol featured in the game is actually a Pardini Fiocchi .22 Caliber Target Pistol, re-purposed as a short range Tranquillizer Gun. It carries 6 round and has a noticeable pause between shots, it often takes two shots to stop a Raptor completely for a short time, if the raptor "Awakens" it will become more aggressive. Due to budget constraints in development however, the target merely stands there motionless but you can still take damage if touch the jaws of the Raptor.

Due to budget constraints in development, the target will, once tranquilized, merely stand there motionless, only moving when shot by the player (in reaction to momentum imparted from the bullets) and only damaging them if the player deliberately contacts the damage-strip in their mouth; after a few seconds they will awaken and be more aggressive than before.

Hammond's Revolver is found in his bedroom in The Town, and resembles a Smith & Wesson Model 40. It has a nickel finish and wood grips. When the player collects it, Anne remarks: "Ah, lady's model." This suggests the Ladysmith over the Model 40, but a close look at the cylinder release latch shows a strong Model 40 resemblance. Though the grip safety of the Model 40 is not visible, Model 40s can have the grip safety pinned down.

The Calico MP50 (Calico M950) appears in the game as the Calico MP50 in-game. It is labeled as one of the hardest weapons to aim but carries the largest number of rounds in any hand held weapon, 100 rounds in it's helical magazine. It is fully automatic but unlike the other 9mm handguns it does less damage, players are usually able to kill at least 4 or 5 Raptors with well placed bursts to the head but due to the iron sight or lack there of, it's often known to completely use up half of it's ammo on a single Raptor, the rate of fire doesn't help much either in the accuracy department. It is often one of the rarer guns available, often hidden in one of the many Calico hiding spots.

It's fully automatic with a decent range, take note that the suppressed version does less damage and has nearly half the range of the un-suppressed version but makes it harder for enemies to find you. Both versions do less damage than the two 9mm burst handguns, but higher damage than the Calico. It is common in the early stages of the game but can be found later in large numbers in the later levels, most notably the suppressed version.

The Ingram MAC-10 is featured in-game as one of the fastest firing sub-machine gun's available. The MAC10 has horrid accuracy and very large muzzle climb when fired fully automatic, despite being in .45 ACP Caliber it does less damage than the HK MP5K and other 9mm handguns but is often the most commonly encountered SMG. It's often best used in close range, as a short burst is usually enough to finish off a Raptor from either Tribe A or B but C Raptors often take 2/3 or an entire magazine to kill one. One of the Shotguns encountered early on while slowly becoming rarer in the later levels. The Franchi SPAS-12 is perhaps the most iconic shotgun and most players prefer it, for it's power and ease of use not to mention it's relatively tight spread. A single shot is usually enough to drop a Raptor in a Single headshot, but Tribe C Raptors often take 2 or 3 shots before falling. It carries 8 rounds and has quite the kick when fired. In the last half of the final level, the SPAS 12 is found with only 4 shots as opposed to 8. It's likely placed in the game as a reference to the first movie Jurassic Park.

The Browning M1919A4 Machine Gun, named as the Browning M2 or Ma Deuce in-game is a mounted machine gun seen mounted to various platforms in the game. The grip and receiver of the in-game model are from the M1919, but the barrel is a duplicate of the M2's, including the distinctive perforated barrel support. The Browning is never found with a full magazine it's always found with half a magazine but fires 200 rounds, it's presumed to have a max capacity of 500, it does massive damage on a per shot basis but has massive recoil and is difficult to aim, like Barret most players have to move their body to aim and compensate for the recoil. It's effective on virtually anything but takes an entire magazine to kill a T-Rex, it's mostly used for Albertosauruses and large numbers of Raptors, there's usually no need to aim for the head as a quick burst from this will kill most Raptors in a short time frame.

Jurassic Park: Trespasser (1998)

The following weapons appear in the video game Jurassic Park: Trespasser:

Handguns

Springfield Armory M1911

Smith & Wesson Model 586

Simply called the .357 Revolver, the Smith & Wesson Model 586 is one of the few starting firearms in the beginning levels and is perhaps the most common to be found early on, but slowly starts to fade, becoming harder to find in later levels. Despite the power of the .357 Magnum round in real life, it is often one of the weaker pistols of the game, often taking 3-4 shots to the head to drop a single raptor from either Tribe A or Tribe B. It is almost useless versus the raptors in Tribe C, who often take the entire 6 rounds without dying.

Desert Eagle Mark VII

The Desert Eagle Mark VII pistol in .44 magnum is featured in-game as the most prominent pistol and is perhaps labeled the best one in the game.

Anne demonstrates her unique ability to rotate and spin her right arm, giving a nice profile view of her Desert Eagle.
Anne uses her firearms expertise to fire the Desert Eagle gangster style at an approaching raptor.

Ruger Redhawk

Anne admires her Redhawk at the shooting range. This appears to be equipped with a 7.5" barrel, the longest factory option for a Redhawk at the time.
Anne punctures a small crate with the Redhawk at the shooting range.

Heckler & Koch VP70M

The Heckler & Koch VP70M pistol is one of the very few 9mm handguns used in the game. It fires in 3 round bursts, which doesn't seem possible as the weapon does not feature the select-fire stock holster, and fires with an 18 round magazine totaling to 6 bursts. It's surprisingly obvious that the VP70M is not as effective as earlier pistols against most forms of dinosaurs on Site B, often taking around 2 full bursts to the head to a Tribe A raptor and 3 to 4 bursts to a Tribe B Raptor.

The VP70 appears to have the HK logo as well as all proper markings. The location of the logo on the front of the gun (as well as the presence of burst fire mode) indicates it is a VP70M and not the VP70Z model.

Beretta 93R

The Beretta 93R is another 9mm pistol featured in the game, firing in 3 round bursts like the VP70 but often favored over the VP70 due to the slightly larger magazine size of 20 rounds. Unlike the VP70 however, the Beretta is relatively inaccurate and is only useful at short range, and there is a noticeable pause between each burst. Much like the VP70, it takes a lot of rounds to down most raptors, but most players find the Beretta easier to aim, thus taking less ammo per raptor.

Anne demonstrates her inability to grasp this particular firearm as the Beretta 93R is bugged in the test map.
That's no better.
Still no.
Almost there.
Anne fires the Beretta 93R... somehow.
Success! Anne finds and correctly grips the 93R in the town.

Tranquilizer Pistol

The Tranquilizer Pistol featured in the game is actually a Pardini Fiocchi .22 Caliber Target Pistol, re-purposed as a short range tranquilizer gun. It carries 6 rounds and has a noticeable pause between shots.

Side view of the Tranquilizer Pistol.

Hammond's Revolver

Hammond's Revolver is found in his bedroom in The Town, and resembles a Smith & Wesson Model 40. It has a nickel finish and wood grips. When the player collects it, Anne remarks "Ah, lady's model". This suggests the Model 60 Ladysmith over the Model 40, but a close look at the cylinder release latch shows a strong Model 40 resemblance. Though the grip safety of the Model 40 is not visible, Model 40s can have the grip safety pinned down. Either way, it is not a Ladysmith, as evidenced by the lack of a visible hammer. Hammond's Revolver erroneously holds 6 shots, even though the both Model 40 and 640, and the in-game model, have 5-shot cylinders.

Submachine Guns

Calico M950

The Calico M950 appears in the game as the Calico MP50 in-game. It is labeled as one of the hardest weapons to aim but carries the largest number of rounds of any handheld weapon, 100 rounds in its helical magazine. It is fully automatic but does less damage than the other 9mm handguns, nevertheless players are usually able to kill at least 4 or 5 Raptors with well placed bursts to the head. It is often one of the rarer guns available, usually hidden out of the way hiding spots.

Heckler & Koch MP5K

The H&K MP5K is a submachine gun featured in-game and comes in two distinct varieties. It carries an incorrect 60 rounds per magazine and features a suppressed version. It's fully automatic with a decent range, take note that the suppressed version does less damage and has nearly half the range of the unsuppressed version but makes it harder for enemies to find you. Both versions do less damage than the two 9mm burst handguns, but higher damage than the Calico. It is common in the early stages of the game but can be found later in large numbers in the later levels, most commonly the suppressed version.

Ingram MAC-10

The Ingram MAC-10 is featured in-game as one of the fastest firing submachine guns available. The MAC-10 has horrid accuracy and very large muzzle climb when fired fully automatic, despite being in .45 ACP Caliber it does less damage than the MP5K and other 9mm handguns, but is often the most commonly encountered SMG. It's often best used in close range, as a short burst is usually enough to finish off a raptor from either Tribe A or B, but C Raptors often take two-thirds of or the entire magazine to kill. The weapon carries (an incorrect) 45 rounds a magazine, but is only loaded with 30 in the final level.

Shotguns

Franchi SPAS-12

One of the shotguns encountered early on while slowly becoming rarer in the later levels. The Franchi SPAS-12 is perhaps the most iconic shotgun and most players prefer it for its power and ease of use, not to mention its relatively tight spread. A single shot is usually enough to drop a Raptor in a single headshot, but Tribe C Raptors often take 2 or 3 shots before falling. It carries 8 rounds and has quite the kick when fired. In the last half of the final level, the SPAS-12 is found with only 4 shots as opposed to 8. It's likely placed in the game as a reference to Muldoon's use of the weapon in the first Jurassic Park movie.

Benelli M1 Super 90

Another shotgun featured in-game, the Benelli M1 Super 90 is prominent in the game's later levels. While powerful much like the SPAS-12 it is harder to aim and has a wider spread than the SPAS making it difficult to use over a distance and best at close range. It carries 7 shots and fires slower than the SPAS. Most players would often prefer using it as a club as opposed to an actual firearm.

Rifles

Browning Automatic Rifle Safari

The Browning Automatic Rifle Safari is featured in-game as the Browning High Power Hunting Rifle. It is perhaps one of the more commonly encountered firearms in the game and is once mastered can be considered an all round gun. It can drop a raptor from either Tribe A or Tribe B in 1 or 2 headshots, but the Tribe C Raptors can sometimes take between 3-4 headshots to down. It carries 10 rounds and is hard to distinguish what caliber it is, it's presumed to be in .308 Winchester or .30-06 Springfield, but most real life BAR Safari rifles carry only 4 rounds.

M14 Rifle

An M14 Rifle is featured as the most common semi-automatic rifle in the game. It carries 20 rounds and is usually able to down a Raptor from either Tribe A or Tribe B with 2 or 3 headshots, with rare occurrences of 4 or 5. Tribe C Raptors often take 6 or 7 shots before falling. The M14 carries 20 rounds and is both accurate, easy to aim and has moderate recoil. Some players often try to conserve the M14 ammo as much as possible, because most raptors fall with only a few hits.

Heckler & Koch HK91

The HK91 is a rare rifle in Trespasser which is often only encountered in select parts of the game. It has every right to be rare, as it is one of the best rifles in the game. It carries 20 rounds a magazine, is the easiest rifle to aim and usually drops most Raptors in 2 or 3 shots, give or take, this includes Tribe C Raptors who are often quite tough to begin with. It seems to be mounted with an under barrel flashlight but is never used in-game.

Norinco Type 56

The Norinco Type 56 rifle is featured in the game with the name "AG-47" and comes in two variants. The first version has high recoil with a standard 40 round magazine and decent damage, the second version features a heavier recoil with a 100-round drum magazine. Both are fully automatic. They are often effective on all varieties of raptor but are mostly effective on Tribe C Raptors and the 100-round drum version can be effective versus the Albertosaurus with a steady hand.

Lindstradt Tranquilizer Rifle

The famous Lindstradt Rifle from The Lost World: Jurassic Park returns. It comes in two versions, a regular version and an Enhanced version firing poison darts. Both versions feature a reflex sight and fire with a distinctive pause between shots, carrying respectively five darts (regular) or three (enhanced). The regular version can stop a raptor with a single shot for 120 seconds, as opposed to the tranquilizer pistol stopping them for 60. The toxic version, while very rare, kills almost all targets with a single shot, often showering the screen with an over the top blood spray. Its most apparent usage is in part 1 of The Ascent, where it can be found at the beginning of the level and its three rounds can either be used to quickly defeat the three Albertosauruses in the level, or saved to kill the final Tyrannosaurus with three well-placed headshots.

Barrett M82A1

The Barrett M82A1 .50 caliber anti-materiel rifle is a mounted gun featured in the game. It's incredibly hard to aim, most players find they have to move their body instead of the arm, the scope has a static zoom over a distance and a single shot is capable of killing most raptors in a single hit. Sadly, the weapon is extremely scarce and you don't get to use it that often unless you're a really good shot.

Machine Guns

Browning M1919A4 Machine Gun

The Browning M1919A4 Machine Gun, named as the Browning M2 or Ma Deuce in-game is a mounted machine gun seen mounted to various platforms in the game. The grip and receiver of the in-game model are from the M1919, but the barrel is a duplicate of the M2's, including the distinctive perforated barrel support covering only a small part of the rear of the barrel. The Browning is never found with a full magazine; it's always found with half a magazine (Anne will comment that it feels "half-empty" every time a fresh one is grabbed) but fires 200 rounds, presumably having a max capacity of 500. It does massive damage on a per-shot basis, but has massive recoil and is difficult to aim like Barrett, as most players have to move their body to aim and compensate for the recoil. It's effective on virtually anything but takes an entire magazine to kill a T-Rex, it's mostly used for Albertosauruses and large numbers of Raptors. There's usually no need to aim for the head, as a quick burst from this will lift the barrel on its own towards the head and kill most Raptors in a short time frame regardless.
