List of firearms used by the Salvadoran F.A.E.S. (Fuerza Armada de El Salvador, complete... for now)
Overview
Throughout its history, the Salvadoran army used a large number of weapons in an eclectic attempt to improve its external and internal defense capabilities, the army and police were in a semi-deplorable state, it was after the Salvadoran civil war, the army and police were equipped with new weaponry, but due to the corruption of past governments in the 2000s, this was either directly or indirectly sabotaged (the violent gangs did not help either), it was not until the 2019 presidential elections, under the administration of President Nayib Bukele, that the army and police received a much needed (and ongoing) re-armament, re-equipment and re-organization.
