The Unbeliever is a 1918 silent propaganda film directed by Alan Crosland. The story is about the young naïve Philip Landicutt, who joins the U.S. Marine Corps to fight the Germans in France. Believing in quick glory, he and his comrades experience the everyday life of war. During an encounter with the Belgian girl, Virginie Harbrok, Philip falls in love with her.
The following weapons were used in the film The Unbeliever:
Handguns
Colt M1911
A Colt M1911 is used by German Lieutenant Kurt von Schnieditz (Erich von Stroheim).
Colt M1903
During the film's climax, Philip Landicutt (Raymond McKee) is seen with a Colt Model 1903.
Rifles
Springfield M1903
Philip Landicutt, "Lefty" (Darwin Karr), Albert Mullins (Moss Gill), and other American soldiers are armed with M1903 Springfield rifles. German soldiers including Emanuel Müller (Earl Schenck) can also be seen wielding Springfield rifles. Instead of their own Mauser rifles, two Belgian Army scouts are also armed with Springfields. Virginie Harbrok (Marguerite Courtot) holds Philip's rifle at the movie's climax.
Springfield Model 1873
The majority of German troops including, Emanuel Muller, carry Trapdoor Springfield Rifles standing in for accurate Mauser Gewehr 1898s.
Other
