Lone Survivor is a 2013 war drama directed by Peter Berg (Battleship). Based on the best-selling book Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10 by former U.S. Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, the film stars Mark Wahlberg as Luttrell, who was a member of an ill-fated SEAL reconnaissance team that was ambushed in the mountains of northeastern Afghanistan during Operation Red Wings on June 28, 2005. The film also stars Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster and Eric Bana, and went into limited release on December 25, 2013, with a wider release on January 14, 2014.
