American Beauty (1999)

American Beauty is a 1999 comedy drama written by Alan Ball and directed by Sam Mendes and starring Kevin Spacey as an advertising executive who decides to quit his job and live his life in a completely new way. The cast includes Annette Bening, Chris Cooper and Mena Suvari. The film would subsequently be nominated for nine Academy Awards and would receive five, including the Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor for Spacey.
