'''Viy or Spirit of Evil''' (Russin: ''Вий''; '''''Viy''''') is the 1967 Soviet mystery horror, based on the novel of the Nikolai Gogol ''Viy''. Beeng the fourth ecranisation (the previosly three (1909, 1912 and 1916 are belives to be lost) it's very close to original text. The novel also was another three ecranisations (1990's ''Holy Place (Sveto mesto)'', 2006's ''[[Talk:Lembit Ulfsak|The Power of Fear (Vedma)]]'' and 2014's ''[[Forbidden Empire]]'' althought the last two versions are very loosely based on the novel. Accisentely, this is the only Soviet horror movie.
