I find it strange that sources say that the French called it a submachine gun, especially since all the sources are in English and none in French. A comment on the Wikipedia comment page for the weapon said that the Frenched called it pistolet mitrailleur not because it used pistol rounds, but because it had a pistol grip but no butt. Is there any source that confirms that? --[[User:Wuzh|Wuzh]] ([[User talk:Wuzh|talk]]) 02:20, 24 April 2018 (EDT)

Submachine Gun?

I find it strange that sources say that the French called it a submachine gun, especially since all the sources are in English and none in French. A comment on the Wikipedia comment page for the weapon said that the Frenched called it pistolet mitrailleur not because it used pistol rounds, but because it had a pistol grip but no butt. Is there any source that confirms that? --Wuzh (talk) 02:20, 24 April 2018 (EDT)

It strikes me that user is making a meaningless distinction, since nobody ever said the weapon was called a pistolet mitrailleur because it fired pistol rounds. Evil Tim (talk) 02:28, 24 April 2018 (EDT)

I will just make a note for now. I will try to find more reliable sources. --Wuzh (talk) 02:42, 24 April 2018 (EDT)
