Mother (original Mat' or Mat; also known as Zapreshchyonnye lyudi (literally "Forbidden people")) is a Soviet 1990 (filmed 1989) made for TV historical drama, directed by Gleb Panfilov and based on the novel by Maxim Gorky. It depicts the life of factory workers in a Russian town and their way to revolution. The movie is the third screen adaptation of the original novel after 1926 version by Vsevolod Pudovkin, and 1955 version by Mark Donskoy.
