Massacre in Rome (original Italian title Rappresaglia) is a French-Italian 1973 war drama directed by George P. Cosmatos. The movie depicts the events of the Ardeatine massacre in Rome in March 24, 1944, when more than three hundred Italian civilians were executed by Nazi German occupation troops as a reprisal for a partisan attack against the SS Police Regiment "Bozen". The film stars Richard Burton as the head of Rome Gestapo Herbert Kappler and Marcello Mastroianni as Italian priest Father Pietro Antonelli.
The following weapons were used in the film Massacre in Rome:
Pistols
Mauser C96
Mauser C96 pistols are used by SS soldiers and officers, notably SS-Obersturmbannführer Herbert Kappler (Richard Burton) and SS-Sturmbannführer Domizlaf (Anthony Steel), during the mass execution of Italian victims in Ardeatine Caves. One of these pistol has 20-shot fixed magazine, others are standard C96s. Most pistols lack the hole in safety lever knob so they appear to be a "Wartime Commercial" model.
