Jessica Jones is the Netflix adaptation of the Marvel superhero series Alias. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the series chronicles the adventures of Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), a former superhero who has given up her powers due to a traumatic incident that caused the death of an innocent person. She now attempts to continue with her life as a private investigator despite suffering from PTSD. The series, which premiered on Netflix on November 20th 2015, is the second of four original series set in the MCU that highlights Marvel's "street-level" heroes, who united for the 2017 miniseries The Defenders.
