Dunkirk is a 2017 American-British-French-German World War II film directed by Christopher Nolan that tells the story of the evacuation of surrounded British, Belgian and French troops from Dunkirk in 1940 (Operation Dynamo). The film's cast includes Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, Fionn Whitehead, Jack Lowden, Cillian Murphy and One Direction member Harry Styles. The story had previously been told in a similarly-named 1958 film Dunkirk.

Vickers K

Vickers K machine guns are fitted to British Motor Torpedo Boats. This is potentially anachronistic because as a general rule Motor Torpedo Boats at the time were fitted with ground pattern Lewis Guns, not being replaced with the Vickers K until 1942. The actual boat used during production is MTB 102 which was actually present during the real Dunkirk evacuation (acting as the flagship for Rear Admiral Wake-Walker), and is, in fact, the sole surviving Royal Navy vessel that participated in the operation.

Bren Mk1

A Bren Mk1 is fired from an anti-aircraft mount on a Royal Navy destroyer. At least one British soldier carries a Bren gun.

Bofors 40mm

Several Bofors 40mm AA-guns are seen used by British soldiers at Dunkirk.

A Bofors behind Colonel Winnant. This gun is incorrectly equipped with an incomplete 1944-issue British-designed Stiffkey gunsight: while this has been stripped down to make it closer to a period sight, the triangular supporting assembly for the lead adjustment trapeze is still present.

Oerlikon 20mm Cannon

Oerlikon 20mm Cannons are mounted on the British Motor Torpedo Boat and the Destroyer Maillé-Brézé.

Webley & Scott No. 4 Mk. I Signal Pistol

Webley & Scott No. 4 Mk. I signal pistols are carried by the Spitfire pilots Farrier (Tom Hardy) and Collins (Jack Lowden).

Webley & Scott No. 4 Mk. I Signal Pistol - 37 mm

After ditching his fighter in the sea, Collins tries to use his Signal Pistol to try to break the glass of his plane's jammed windscreen and escape.

As panic sets in, he drops the flare gun into the seawater flooding the cockpit.

Farrier fires a flare into the cockpit of his Spitfire to burn the aircraft and prevent it from falling into enemy hands.

Supermarine Spitfire Mark IA

The Spitfires are armed with eight Browning .303 Mk II machine guns.
