The '''AK-12''' is the latest entry in the legendary [[Kalashnikov]] series of rifles. It was developed to replace the [[AK-74M]] and the AK-100-series of rifles. Unlike the previous AK's (particularly the 100-series), the AK-12 does not have a designation for the different calibers anymore. In its prototype stages (until Jan 2012), the rifle was known as '''AK-200''' and it looked more like an AK-74M/101/103 fitted with rails.
