That's a very good question, with one answer: probalby the ammo box is hidden the same way the real leg is. The following weapons were used in the film Planet Terror:
Colt Python
Sheriff Hague (Michael Biehn) carries a Colt Python as sidearm throughout the film. Deputy Tolo (Tom Savini) uses a Colt Python outside the police station, but it switches to a Ruger Security Six at the hospital. Wray (Freddy Rodriguez) is given a Ruger Security Six by Sheriff Hague at The Bone Shack it then switches to a Colt Python and he uses it through the end of the film.
Ruger Security Six
Deputy Tolo (Tom Savini) uses a Ruger Security Six revolver at the hospital. Sheriff Hague (Michael Biehn) hands one to Wray at The Bone Shack (it changes to a Colt Python after leaving on the pocket bike). While Cherry hands him a Smith & Wesson Model 586 and was flashily twirled.
M1911A1
Lt. Muldoon (Bruce Willis) carries a M1911A1 throughout the film. Soldier rapist (Quentin Tarantino) uses a Rock Island Armory 1911A1 to threaten Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan) and Dr. Block (Marley Shelton).
Makarov PM
Abby (Naveen Andrews) uses a Makarov PM when the deal for the "shit" with Lt. Muldoon (Bruce Willis) goes bad.
Single Action Army
A Single Action Army is used by Earl McGraw (Michael Parks). It is amazingly seen firing seven shots when he uses it against the infected Dr. Block (Josh Brolin). Director Robert Rodriguez notes on the DVD commentary that he purposely added the seventh shot in the sound mix.
Smith & Wesson Model 36
Dr. Block (Marley Shelton) tells her son Tony Block (Rebel Rodriguez) to arm himself with a Smith & Wesson Model 36 that's stored in her glove box.
Smith & Wesson Model 586
Cherry hands a Smith & Wesson Model 586 to Wray (Freddy Rodriguez) to complement the Ruger Security Six given to him by Sheriff Hague.
Smith and Wesson Model 10 HB
A Smith & Wesson Model 10 HB is used by two police officers when the infected attack the police station.
Mossberg 500
Deputy Tolo (Tom Savini) carries a Mossberg 500 in the hospital when Wray is first picked up. Hot Female Deputy (Emmy Robbin) uses a Mossberg 500 throughout the film until it's taken by Military Unit. Babysitter Twin #1 (Electra Avellan) carries one when they flee The Bone Shack.
Deputy Carlos (Carlos Gallardo) use a Field Mossberg 500 with a vent rib barrel that has been sawn down until he is killed. Sheriff Hague (Michael Biehn) then uses it until they are forced to leave The Bone Shack,
12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun
A Savage/Stevens 311A Shotgun is J.T.'s (Jeff Fahey) weapon of choice.
M16A1 Rifle
The M16A1 rifle is used by the soldiers and the survivors at the Army base.
M16 Rifle
A number of the soldiers and survivors are seen armed with slab-sided M16 rifles with 30 round magazines.

M4A1 Carbine
Used by the soldiers.
Bushmaster Carbine
Wray gives Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan) a Bushmaster Carbine as her new leg.

The following screen captures show how the gun was integrated via CGI into the shots of Rose McGowan's performance. Her leg was wrapped in a green or gray-colored cast & the rifle was mapped over it to achieve the effect.
AR15
El Wray uses an AR-15 carbine with a night vision scope when he and Cherry first run into zombies, and he uses it to kill many zombies.
Browning M2HB
Several Browning M2HB are mounted on different military vehicles.
M136 AT4
A zombie uses an M136 AT4 to try and kill Cherry.
GE M134 Minigun
Used as Cherry's prothestic leg at the end.

Earl McGraw (Michael Parks) is seen handling a Winchester 1894 when he tells his daughter Dr. Block to go on without him at The Bone Shack.
Maruzen Pump action TEC 9
Babysitter Twin #2 (Elise Avellan) uses a TEC 9 until she is given Franchi SPAS-12 by J.T (Jeff Fahey).
Cobray M11/9
Babysitter Twin #1 (Electra Avellan) uses a Cobray M11/9 fitted with a flash suppressor until she is given a Mossberg 500. One of the survivors is then seen with it when they leave The Bone Shack.
Franchi SPAS-12
After retreating back into The Bone Shack J.T (Jeff Fahey) gives Babysitter Twin #2 (Elise Avellan) a Franchi SPAS-12 to use.
Glock 17
One of Abby's men is seen with a Glock 17 when Romy's balls are removed.
Gun Case
In the police stations armory several shotguns and rifles are seen.

After the senator hires Machete. The camera pans on several guns. This scene is similar to Escape from New York. Which John Carpenter directed, Robert Rodriguez uses music scores similar to John Carpenter themes during the film.
