The following weapons appear in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City:
Handguns
Has a theme color of yellow. Can be put to good use while robbing a store.
Colt M1911A1
Referred to as the 'Pistol', the M1911A1 appears as the game's first handgun. It is the most popular weapon in the game, used by the Vice City Police Department, all gang members, Patrol Invest Group (PIG) guards and many more. This is virtually the only weapon used by armed NPC's in free-roam outside of missions and sub-missions, the exceptions being the AmmuNation store shopkeepers, the Golfers and the soldiers around Fort Baxter (programmed similar to gangs) and Tommy's Gang after completing the storyline missions. Although it incorrectly uses a large magazine capacity of 17 rounds, it is the only firearm model in-game to be recycled from Grand Theft Auto III.
Colt Python
The Colt Python appears possibly as an homage to films like Dirty Harry and Taxi Driver, although not being a S&W. It is an extremely powerful handgun, usually being able to kill someone with one shot, except for SWAT, FBI and National Guardsmen with protective armor. This weapon is very rare in the game, but is sold in two out of the three AmmuNations. It is not used by any NPC in the game except for the AmmuNation store-keeper in Downtown Vice City. Interestingly, Tommy uses one in the cutscene at the end of the mission Rub Out even if you don't have one in your inventory. It holds 6 rounds, and incorrectly ejects shells upon firing.
Submachine Guns
Has a theme color of yellow. All can be used in drive-bys and can be fired to the front or sides while riding motorcycles. Interestingly, when fired from a vehicle, they all have the sound-bites of the Uzi, and a drastically much higher damage, so that one bullet will usually kill virtually every type of NPC.
Intratec TEC-9
The TEC-9 has a somewhat low rate of fire compared to other submachine guns in the game, moderate damage, and a high capacity magazine of 50 rounds. Used most prominently by Street Wannabes and low-level thug muscle in a few missions, but also by other gangs and the respawning Mafia attackers in Keep your friends close.
MAC-10
The MAC-10 is a very rare weapon in the game, as it is never used by NPCs during any missions - It is only wielded by the storekeeper of the AmmuNation Store that sells the weapon in Vice Beach, but on the PC version only (On the PS2 version, he is unarmed). Interestingly, the game icon for this is actually a Micro Uzi. The weapon also was originally supposed to have a silencer. The silenced version can be seen on the game's official website, and text strings in the game files also refer to the weapon as "Silenced Ingram". MAC-10 with silencer back in the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.
IMI Uzi
Considerably the second most popular weapon in the game. The IMI Uzi has moderate damage and a very fast rate of fire. Used by some law enforcement officers (SWAT, Cheetah Undercover Officers), gang members such as Haitians and Cubans and many more NPCs throughout the game.
Heckler & Koch HK94A3
One of the most powerful weapons in the game. Despite being referred to as 'MP' in-game (short for MP5), it is actually a converted Heckler & Koch HK94. It has a high rate of fire but slightly less than the Uzi's, able to fire long ranges and a moderate magazine capacity of 30 rounds. Can be found on FBI agents and US Army officers. Ricardo Diaz uses one when Tommy and Lance take over his mansion.
Shotguns
Has a theme color of dark green. When fired the shotgun shell can be erroneously seen leaving from the barrel in multiple directions.
Ithaca 37
The Ithaca 37 is a good reliable shotgun with a sort of fast firing rate. Has a medium-low damage. Called "Chrome Shotgun" in game.
Ithaca 37 "Stakeout"
Called the 'Stubby Shotgun'. It is based on a customized Ithaca 37 "Stakeout" used by Philip Michael Thomas in Miami Vice.
Franchi SPAS-12
The most powerful shotgun in the game. The SPAS-12 has a very fast rate of fire with good damage but small ammo capacity.
Assault Rifles / Carbines
Has a theme color of orange. Allows aiming option by clicking the secondary fire mode button.
Ruger Mini-14F
Called the 'Kruger', the Ruger Mini-14F is the first assault rifle the player encounters in the game. It has a slow rate of fire and somewhat inaccurate with moderate damage. Tommy and Lance use two of these weapons to cover Diaz during a drug deal gone wrong with the Cubans. It is also used during the mission "All Hands on Deck" when Colonel Cortez's (voiced by Robert Davi) sailor's wield these, and Tommy has one too.
Colt Model 733
The Colt Model 733 is an assault carbine with a high rate of fire and damage, and is incorrectly referred to as an 'M4'. (While "M4" is used as a general term for many newer AR-15/M16-type carbines, Colt's actual M4 Carbines, the Model 777 and Model 920, are not the same weapon as the one used in-game, and the designation "M4" is itself anachronistic, as that designation wasn't introduced until 1994.) Tommy and Lance use Model 733's during their assault on Diaz's Mansion. Also used by soldiers at Fort Baxter and found spawned across the map.
Sniper Rifles
Has a theme color of pink. Allows telescopic sight view by clicking the secondary fire button.
Remington 700
The first sniper rifle the player will most likely encounter in the game. The Remington 700 has good damage and only fires one bullet at a time.
Heckler & Koch SR9(T)
The Heckler & Koch SR9(T) is the most powerful sniper rifle in the game. Comes with a 7 round magazine (though the real weapon only takes 5, 10, or 20 round magazines), and a laser magnifying scope (which is more accurate in the long run). Can destroy a car with a whole magazine. Called 'Sniper .308' in PS2 version. Appears to be modeled after the mockup SR9(T) from Sniper. This configuration is an anachronism, the SR9 series was not introduced until after the 1989 import ban. There is also a nonfunctional suppressor on the rifle (absent in original PlayStation 2 release).
Heavy Weapons
Has a theme color of purple. Carrying such a weapon will slow down your speed and prevent you from jumping and sprinting.
M60 machine gun
Highly effective machine gun with a 100 round capacity. The M60 machine gun can easily take down vehicles and can kill a person in one shot. Tommy uses a helicopter mounted one while on a mission for Diaz with Lance, which he later takes off the Heli for use in combat and keeps the weapon after the mission.
Hand Held GE M134
The Hand Held M134 Minigun can be bought off from Phil Cassidy after you complete his mission string. It is an homage to iconic action films of the 1980's and early 90's which feature the hand held minigun, such as Predator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Extremely high rate of fire and damage.
RPG-7
The RPG-7 rocket launcher is extremely effective against helicopters and pretty much anything else.
Flamethrower
A hand held flamethrower that scorches anyone in front of it. It has a medium-long range.
Grenades
M67
The M67 hand grenade is featured in the game and comes in two different versions. One type which acts normally (exploding with a timed fuse) and another that explodes with a detonator (called 'Remote Grenade').
M7 CS Gas Grenade
The M7 CS gas grenade appears in the game, where it is called simply 'Tear Gas'. Usually found behind police precincts and billow out a big grey cloud of gas, entering which causes your vision to go blurry and you slowly take damage. Can only be found in the original PS2 version. It was removed from later versions for unknown reasons.
Other
Hughes M230 Chain Gun and AGM-114 Hellfire ATGM (AH-64 Apache mounted)
The Hunter attack helicopter (based on the Hughes AH-64 Apache) is armed with an M230 Chain Gun in a chin mount, and wing mounts containing eight AGM-114 Hellfire anti-tank guided missiles in two packs of four, as well as two non-functional Hydra 70mm rocket pods. Can be found at the military base, and the helipad in Ocean Beach when all missions and all hidden packages are completed. You can also use this for vigilante missions, although these missions are called "Brown Thunder" instead (a spoof on the film, Blue Thunder).
Guns inside AmmuNation
Guns on the shelves/racks in AmmuNation stores are: IMI Galil, FAMAS, H&K G3A3, AK-47, H&K MP5K, Steyr AUG, Tommy Gun, IMI Uzi, Intratec TEC-DC9, various versions of the Calico series of machine pistols, Walther MPL, Spectre M4, Colt Model 733, as well as various shotguns and bolt-action rifles.
Unusable Weapons
Desert Eagle
The Desert Eagle is a non-player weapon. It is only seen during the Intro to "Supply & Demand" & "Rub Out". Also appeared in the Cutscene for "The Shootist" being duel wielded by Phil Cassidy. The same model later appears in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Colt Carbine
When Lance arrives outside Diaz's mansion in the opening cutscene for the mission "Rub Out", he opens the trunk to reveal two Colt Carbines, different from the Model 733s used in-game (when gameplay begins, they are replaced with Mod. 733s). The carbines resemble either Colt Model 653's (AKA M16A1 Carbines) or Model 723's (M16A2 Carbines), and the front sight is modeled correctly, unlike the gameplay M733 that has the front sight mounted backwards. These carbines are the same as the original 733's from the original PlayStation 2 release (The versions for X-Box, PC, and the PS2 re-release featured new, slightly different models for some weapons). Another Colt carbine is used by one of the thugs in the game's opening cutscene, and one is carried by Tommy Vercetti in the ending cutscene of the final storyline mission.
Heckler & Koch MP5K
The Heckler & Koch MP5K is only seen in the opening cutscene being used by one of the thugs that ambushes Tommy's drug deal. Initially MP5K was supposed to be one of the guns used by the player, but it is not available in the final release.
AK-47
One of the loading screens as the game is starting up (on PS2 version), depict Phil Cassidy holding a AK-47. It seems the developers were planning to use the AK-47 in the game, but it was later cut and replaced by the Ruger Mini-14F. However, the weapon still remains in the game files, and it is the same model as in the GTA III, WASR-2.
Cut Weapons
These firearms were cut before the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City final release. They can be found only in the files of the PS2 version.
