'Forgotten Hope' is a 2003 modification for Battlefield: 1942. Featuring maps based on key battles in the Second World War, from the invasion of Poland in 1939 to the fall of Germany in 1945, the action takes place across all four major theaters of the war - Western and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean and the Pacific. With eleven different countries available, players can use dozens of authentic WW2-era small arms and vehicles. Due to the popularity of the mod, a sequel, Forgotten Hope 2, was released in 2005 for Battlefield 2.
NOTE: For the original game, see Battlefield: 1942.'
The following weapons appear in the video game Forgotten Hope:
Sidearms
Colt M1911A1
The Colt M1911A1 is the main sidearm for U.S. troops. It should be noted that, unlike in Battlefield 1942, sidearms are issued to only a few select classes, such as Officers, Snipers and Antitank Gunners, rather then as a back-up for all classes.
Enfield No.2 Mk.1*
The Enfield No.2 Mk.1* is carried as a sidearm by Commonwealth (British, Canadian and Australian) units.
Tokarev TT-33
The Tokarev TT-33 appears in-game issued to Red Army infantry.
Star Ruby
The Star Ruby is carried by French forces in-game.
Luger P08
The Luger P08 is one of two pistols carried by German and Finnish soldiers, along with the Walther P38.
Walther P38
Alongside the Luger P08, the Walther P38 is one of two pistols issued to German and Finnish infantrymen in-game.
Nambu Type 14
The Nambu Type 14 is the sidearm for the Imperial Japanese faction in-game.
Beretta M1934
The Beretta M1934 is carried by Italian soldiers in the game.
Submachine Guns
M1928 Thompson
The M1928 Thompson is used by the U.S. and Commonwealth factions in-game. It always fires with a 50-round drum magazine.
M1A1 Thompson
The M1A1 Thompson is also carried by U.S. and Commonwealth forces. It uses a 20-round stick magazine.
M3 "Grease Gun"
The M3 "Grease Gun" makes an appearance amongst the U.S. faction in some maps.
Sten Mk II
The Sten Mk II makes an appearance amongst the British and Canadian factions, particularly in maps set post D-Day.
Sten Mk V
The Sten Mk V is used by British paratroopers.
PPSh-41
The PPSh-41 is the main submachine gun of the Red Army faction in-game. It uses both a 35-round stick and 71-round drum magazine.
PPS-43
The PPS-43 is also used as a submachine gun by the Soviet faction.
Mors Submachine Gun
The Polish faction in-game uses the Mors Submachine Gun.
MAS-38
The MAS-38 is used by the French faction.
MP40
The MP40 is the submachine gun of the German faction in-game.
Bergmann MP18
The Bergmann MP18 is used as a submachine gun by the Imperial Japanese Army faction. This is actually not a historical liberty, for the Bergmann MP18 was fielded by Japanese Marines and saw combat in China and the South Pacific before being replaced by the Type 100 in 1942. It uses a 32-round box magazine.
Beretta Model 38A
The Italian faction uses the Beretta Model 38A.
Suomi KP/-31
Finish soldiers use the Suomi KP/-31 in-game.
Rifles
M1903 Springfield
The M1903 Springfield is used by U.S. troops in early maps, set before the M1 Garand became widely available.
M1903A4 Springfield
The M1903A4 Springfield is used as a sniper rifle by U.S. infantrymen. Unlike in Battlefield 1942, where a Sniper class was available, scoped rifles in Forgotten Hope are rare to come by and function as "easter eggs".
M1 Garand
Unsurprisingly, the M1 Garand is the main-issue battle rifle for U.S. troops in-game. On some maps and for some classes it can be fitted with a rifle grenade. The M1-C variant, fitted with a telescopic sight, is available on some maps.
M1 Carbine
The M1 Carbine is the main weapon for the U.S. faction Officer and Engineer classes.
M1A1 Carbine
The M1A1 Carbine can be used on maps featuring the 101st Airborne Division.
Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I
The Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I is the main battle rifle for the Commonwealth factions. On some maps and for some classes it can be fitted with a rifle grenade.
Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I(T)
The sniper version of the No.4, the Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I(T) is used by Commonwealth factions.
Boys Mk1 Antitank Rifle
The Boys Mk1 Antitank Rifle is the main antitank weapon of the Commonwealth faction in early maps.
Mosin Nagant M91/30
The main weapon of the Red Army faction in-game is the Mosin-Nagant M91/30. A scoped M91/30 is available as an "easter egg". It is also used by the Finnish faction.
Mosin Nagant M38 Carbine
The Mosin Nagant M38 Carbine also appears amongst the Red Army and Finnish factions.
Tokarev SVT-40
Also used by the USSR faction in-game is the Tokarev SVT-40. A scope SVT-40 is also available as an "easter egg".
PTRD-41
The PTRD-41 is used by Soviet antitank troops.
PTRS-41
The PTRS-41 is used as a secondary antitank weapon by the Soviet faction.
WZ29 Polish Mauser
The WZ29 Polish Mauser is used by the Polish Army faction.
Wz.35 Antitank Rifle
The Wz.35 Antitank Rifle is used by the Polish faction. Under the designation of M35, it is also used by German antitank troops in early maps (the Wehrmacht did use the Wz.35 in combat in real life, as did the Italians).
MAS-36
French Forces in-game carry the MAS-36.
Karabiner 98k
The Karabiner 98k is the main weapon of the German faction in-game. A version fitted with a Zeiss ZF42 scope is also available.
Gewehr 43
The Gewehr 43 is also used by German forces. As with the Karabiner 98k, both normal sights and a ZF 4 scope variant are available.
Sturmgewehr 44
The Sturmgewehr 44, with both normal sights and a ZF 4 scope, appears as an "easter egg" for German forces.
FG 42
The FG 42 also appears as an "easter egg" for German forces.
Arisaka Type 38 Carbine
The Arisaka Type 38 Carbine is used by the Imperial Japanese Army faction.
Arisaka Type 99
The Arisaka Type 99 is the main weapon of the Imperial Japanese Army faction. It is never seen without a bayonet, although the bayonet cannot actually be used in melee combat. A scoped Type 99 can be found in some maps as an "easter egg". In reality, there was no scoped version of the Type 38/99; instead, two specific models, the Type 97 and Type 99 were developed.
Carcano M91
The Carcano M91 is the main weapon of the Italian faction in-game.
Carcano M91/38 Short Rifle
Also used by Italian troops is the Carcano M91/38 Short Rifle.
