A 1911 is featured on the US promotional film poster of A History of Violence. Tom Stall (Viggo Mortensen) strips Leland (Stephen McHattie) of a .45 ACP 1911 of unknown make and uses it to kill both Billy and Leland as they try to rob Tom's diner.
