Why does this exist?

A majority of the weapons aren't real and we don't do that kind of stuff here. How did this even get pass? Excalibur01 23:08, 16 August 2011 (CDT)

I was never told that the majority of the weapons had to be real, just that at least two did (or in this case, 6; the M61 Vulcan, the RPG-7, the Walther P5, the Heckler & Koch SMG, and the AK-47s and M16A1s in the ED) and even then we have plenty of quality pages that only denote one real firearm and get passes due to being well built and informative (as opposed to the dozens of anime pages that still lack screenshots, section descriptions and links or even proper formatting). Plus many of the fictional ones here (namely the futuristic Kalashnikov and the semi-auto pistols) could be mistaken for real world designs pretty easily if the viewer isn't weapons-savvy.--PistolJunkie 00:32, 17 August 2011 (CDT)
You're right. There are plenty of reasons why this page qualifies to be on IMFDB. Just the real guns listed alone qualifies it. And the rules state that there must be more than 2 real (or reality based) firearms to qualify, unless there is only one firearm and it is conspicuous in the story and pushes the story forward. It fulfills that minimum requirement and more. :) MoviePropMaster2008 03:17, 17 August 2011 (CDT)
Thank you. I don't make pages unless I'm sure they'll pass. There have been plenty that I've started building in .txt files on my computer, only to get to the end of whatever it is and see that it doesn't qualify and thus scrapped both the draft and the screencaps. I've had several that barely qualify, but none that flat out don't. And to clarify, this is one show that I started into with the full expectation that I would not be able to make a page for it. I mean, it's a Gundam show. In my mind that equals giant robots, angst and fake guns, not RPG-7s.--PistolJunkie 09:16, 17 August 2011 (CDT)

Digging up the problem with this page again. I think this and others like it should take Deus Ex: Human Revolutions cue and place all the fictional guns in the Discussion discussion section because there are so many of them. Excalibur01 23:42, 4 April 2012 (CDT)

I'm not sure I get the logic in doing that. When you move large amounts of content to the discussion page like that, you essentially remove it from most of the public's view; most people just browsing the site who don't edit don't bother going to the discussion pages. And in the event that they do go to the discussion pages, then the actual page content is coupled with the significantly less presentable discussion section. If the presence of fictional weapons composes a large portion of a page and it bothers you that much, why not just group them in a separate section at the end of a page? That way they're still acknowledged and expounded on in the article (instead of being shoved out of view), but are still separated. Besides, fictional weapons are still an important part of the site because many viewers may not realize that said guns are fictional, and denoting them as such informs them as such.--PistolJunkie 10:37, 5 April 2012 (CDT)

The compact pistol looks like it could have been based on the SIG P228. Spartan198 00:27, 5 April 2012 (CDT)
