History Channel: Battle for the Pacific
|
The History Channel - Battle For The Pacific is a first-person shooter published by Activision, set in the Pacific Theater of World War II. It is the sequel to History Channel: Civil War - A Nation Divided and History Channel Civil War: Secret Missions
Two versions of the game exist. The Xbox 360, PS3 and PC version was developed by Cauldron, while the PS2 and Wii version was developed by FUN Labs; aside from the name, they share no similarities with each other and are otherwise entirely distinct games. As such, they will be covered in separate sections on this article.
Most of the weapon models in the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC versions of Battle For The Pacific are reused directly from Call of Duty 3, also published by Activision.
The following weapons appear in the video game The History Channel: Battle for the Pacific:
Xbox 360/PS3/PC version
Pistols
Colt M1911A1
The Colt M1911A1 is the main sidearm throughout the game by default.
Nambu Type 14
Nambu Type 14 pistols are seen in Japanese officers' holsters, but they only use them in "last stand" after going down.
Submachine Guns
Nambu Type 100/44
The 1944 model of the Type 100 submachine gun modeled with a straight magazine instead of an accurate curved one is used by the Japanese Army in the game.
Thompson M1A1
The M1A1 Thompson is the standard submachine gun of the U.S Marine Corps. The in-game model is equipped with a 30-round magazine which only includes 20 bullets.
Shotguns
Winchester M1897
The Winchester Model 1897 shotgun is first given to you at Guadalcanal. It is a very powerful short-range weapon that will take out any enemy with a few shots.
Rifles
Arisaka Type 38/Type 99
The Arisaka Type 38 was the rifle used by the Japanese on many levels. It is a simple easy to use the rifle and surprisingly, you never see it with a bayonet. While called a Type 38 in the game, it appears to be modeled with some elements of the Type 99.
Arisaka Type 97
The scoped version of the Arisaka Type 38, the Type 97, is available in multiplayer.
M1 Garand
The M1 Garand is the weapon you start out with at Corregidor. This was the main rifle in the US Marine Corps.
Machine Guns
M1918A2 Browning Automatic Rifle
The Browning Automatic Rifle is a rather uncommon weapon in the game.
Nambu Type 96
The Type 96 light machine gun is used by the Japanese as a portable weapon. The model for this weapon is simply a modified Bren gun from Call of Duty 3, and retains the distinctive .303 magazine of that weapon.
Grenades & Explosives
Mk 2 Hand Grenade
The Mk 2 hand grenade is the standard grenade in the game.
M15 Anti-Tank Mine
Anachronistic and out-of-place M15 anti-tank mines must be disarmed at one point in the game.

Emplaced Weapons
Browning M1919A6
The Browning M1919A6 can be seen as a usable emplaced weapon.
Browning M2
The Browning M2 is mainly mounted on the patrol & PT boats and is mounted in several places on Corregidor. It can also be mounted in the Wake Island level.
Nambu Type 96
In addition to its portable form, the Type 96 light machine gun also appears as a mounted weapon.
Type 1 47mm Anti-Tank Gun
Several Type 1 47mm anti-tank guns can be seen and destroyed through the campaign
Type 96 25 mm AT/AA Gun
Japanese Type 96 25 mm AT/AA Guns can be seen in twin mountings in several missions. These AA guns are unusable for the player.
Type 97 Aircraft Machine Gun
The Type 97 aircraft machine gun can incorrectly seen mounted on the Japanese Mitsubishi A6M2a Type 0 Model 11 "Zero" long-range carrier-based fighter aircraft's wing instead of in its nose.
Type 97 Infantry Mortar
At the beginning of the first Guadalcanal mission, a Type 97 Infantry Mortar is seen.
Type 99 Cannon
Two Type 99 cannons are also mounted on the Mitsubishi's wings.
PS2/Wii version
Pistols
Colt M1911A1
The Colt M1911A1 appears, sometimes with a suppressor.
Nambu Type 14
Unlike the 7th gen version of the game, the Nambu Type 14 is a usable weapon in the PS2 and Wii version.
Submachine Guns
Nambu Type 100
The Type 100 submachine gun appears in the game.
Thompson M1A1
The M1A1 Thompson appears as the player's starting weapon in a few stages. It appears to be the same model from Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, but with lower-quality textures.
Shotguns
Winchester Model 1897
The Winchester Model 1897 shotgun also appears in this version of the game.
Rifles
Arisaka Type 44
The Arisaka Type 44 appears as the main weapon of the Japanese forces. Despite having the bayonet extended, the player character uses the buttstock when meleeing.
M1 Garand
The M1 Garand appears in the game. Unlike the Arisaka, the player alternates between bayonet stabs and buttstroke with the weapon when performing melee attacks.
M1903 Springfield
The M1903 Springfield is used as a sniper rifle in several missions.
Emplaced Weapons
Browning M2
The Browning M2 is found mounted in a few spots and dual M2HBs can be used on PT Boats.
Type 92 Heavy Machine Gun
The Type 92 heavy machine gun appears.
Grenades
Mk 2 Hand Grenade
The Mk 2 hand grenade is used by both the player and Japanese forces.
