It is intended to be an ultra-light squad automatic weapon for urban combat with the handling characteristics of an assault rifle. It is noted for some unusual design features, such as a side-mounted feed tray cover and a semi-automatic firing option. The EVOLYS is primarily made from lightweight alloys and 3D printed parts, making it noticeably lighter than other contemporary machine guns. It was initially offered in 5.56x45mm NATO and 7.62x51mm NATO, with 6.5x49mm Creedmoor and .264 LICC variants introduced later.
