About
The Browning Arms Company is an American manufacturer of rifles, machine guns, shotguns, and pistols. The company was originally founded in 1878 as the John Moses and Matthew Sandefur Browning Company by legendary firearm designer and inventor John Moses Browning and his brother Matthew in Ogden, Utah, United States. In 1927, the year after the death of John Browning, the company was reorganized into the Browning Arms Company.
The company is famous for producing weapons like the prolific Browning Hi-Power pistol, Browning M2 machine gun, and Browning Auto-5, the world's first successful semi-automatic shotgun design. In 1977, the company was acquired wholly by FN Herstal of Belgium after a long partnership between the two companies. Today, the company focuses on manufacturing shotguns and bolt-action rifles, along with .22 LR pistols like the Browning Buck Mark. In addition to firearms, the Browning Arms Company also manufactures clothing, gun safes, knives, flashlights, and miscellaneous shooting accessories.
